Reading the book "Loser" by Jerry Spinelli, so I can make sure that my son, who is reading it for school, understands it... There's a part where the main character writes letters to "mail" when he goes to "work" with his dad...who can't actually bring him to work (against regulations), so he pretends to deliver mail on a Sunday. When a child receives the mail through the slot and tells his mom, his Mom replies "There's no mail on Sunday!" LOL

Erin, This is a post that just hit a bit close to home for ole Duddahs... Duddahs has a Mail Slot on his front door as he lives on a park and the town does not allow us to have a mail box for zoning and visual reasons. The rest of the town can have mail boxes but my entire street, well it only has 20 houses on my whole street, must have a mail slot or small box hidden next to the front porch. Since Duddahs house/nest was built as part of a WPA Project in 1936 and was one of the original 11 that surround the park, it has it's original hand hammered cast iron mail slot and solid Chestnut front door. Duddahs will take a picture of it for all to see. It is so odd that Duddahs never put two and two together about the Mail Slots and the Dursley's home on Privet Drive.. Forgets that most people do not have mail slots!

OH those are so cool. Honestly, I'd prefer to have a mail slot.. but nothing doing around here. Most of the time if you are living on a rural street wehre the mail man does not even get out of their cars or trucks.. they have to pull up to the mailbox then drive to the next house. Well, if you live on a rural street people have had to brick their mailboxes in. Teenagers or kids drinking... out having fun, will often take baseball bats to the boxes. UGH. So glad nothing's ever happened to ours since we don't do that. Still, I remember the old days when I lived up north where the mailman dropped our mail in the mailslot. It was fun for a kid to see it drop in. LOL. Yep we were weird. ....................... My very goofy Harry Potter Dejavu.... I have been out of the house a lot over the past couple of days. Today, when I was driving over the Arkansas River bridge to enter Little Rock... by the way, I was driving my huge full sized Chevy van. It takes up pretty much my whole lane, so I don't have much room to maneuver to either side. Well, I was in the middle lane and needed to get into the right lane, because my exit was coming up. I was speeding up to pass this HUGE motor home that had it's car in tow. All I know is that I was gaining speed to pass it... When out of the blue a PURPLE BUS sped past me even faster on my left. I screamed and died laughing. (rofl)I was sandwiched for a moment there between two larger vehicles than mine.. That PURPLE BUS scared the bajeebees outta me. It was driving wild too. It was gone in a flash. When I made the Harry Potter connection I laughed so hard that I had tears literally covered my face. That's a hard thing when you need to see where you are going. What made it worse.. A couple of minutes into my laughing fit, my hubby said he's trying to ignore me, because he knew why I was laughing. And here I am now... laughing while typing this up on the back porch. He came out here just to ask me if I was telling you guys about my purple bus. He's gone now, but really, seeing that bus made my day. I mean... why do we have any purple busses like that here? It was not a school bus, it was a much larger bus than that.

My Harry Potter dejavu....
The other day, while sitting out back of my house. I sat and watched a single long skinny leaf fall from one of my trees. I fell much like and reminded me of the one that fell from the Whomping Willow tree in the POA movie.

The house across from the post office in my town has the most wonderful Halloween decorations. They put more and more stuff out as it gets closer to the day and then on Halloween night they have everything moving and lit up and people dressed up to create a big spectacle for the kids on that street. One thing they have is a huge spider in a web, it will eventually move around, and of course it reminds me of Aragog. Then today they had put out three wooden skeletons, each playing a different musical instrument-a skeleton band. I could just see them playing at Nick's deathday party.

Has the flying car finally arrived?
Once the stuff of science fiction, the flying car is almost a reality. A Slovakian company recently tested a prototype that could soon be on a road — or in a sky — near you.
This was on my AOL homepage!

WOW. That would be cool. I sort of thought that with the hovercraft they came up with ages ago... that one really reminded me more of the Star Wars land speeders. I wonder what the one you are talking about looks like? And every time I see the weasley's car, I always had a flashback of the Jetson's cartoon. I know, they don't look anything alike but I wondered if she was watching this cartoon with her daughter... or stuck in a traffic jam when she created their car? I know it was the same model as her best friend's car when they were teens. That's cool to learn. As for that band... I sort of think about JB's band memebers. I wonder if she and her band members all dress up on Halloween gigs? ================ My Harry Potter dejavu... LOTS OF SPIDERS. Yep.. I found a black widow last week. The red dot and all. Then I was watching a TV show called "Infested" and could not stop itching watching millions of spiders... brown recluse too. Just like the infestation we endured about 20 years ago of that same dangerous spider when we used to live out in the country. I kept hollering at the screen to tell them they have to set off bombs in the attic, in each room of the house as well as under the house. These people didn't seem to know how to get rid of them and it was driving me crazy watching... so I kept itching for watching the whole thing. THEN the doorbell went off DURING that exact episode... the UPS guy was delivering something. I open the door and while he was bringing them in, there was this huge spider... I kept saying KILL IT! STEP ON IT! Then laughed and told him what we were watching. It's dead alright. LOL. What is bad about watching that show? I find it much more scary than any horro film, or ghost story being told on TV. But the dejavu of course reminds me of me itching every time I watch the children of Aragog scenes. You should have seen me.. I clawed myself up something good.

My Harry Potter Dejavu... I'm getting all set to go watch Thor 2: The Dark World. It's premiere is on Friday. I'm so excited I can hardly sit still. Anyway, there is one of the featurettes/promo spots whatever it's called where they show a scene where they are running... fighting while running through trees of a forest. Every single time I get a flashback of the Deathly Hallows movies when the trio is running from the Snatchers.

I miss her. Too bad I didn't start this site years earlier to where we might have had the chance to create a different place for our old HP friends of that day to hang out if they wanted to... Something other than the WB. People tried to talk me into it... Remember Gaga and Elda Robetie? LilyHBP? I just would not listen in those days. We might have had more of the old crowd here if I did... maybe.

I don't really know where to post this at, so I suppose this is as good a place than any. My Harry Potter Dejavu... Last night when I was tucking my son into bed... well, right over his bed we have a small television mounted safely to the ceiling where he can see it easier. Well, when I was trying to find something for him to watch since he was wide awake and I was about to drop dead asleep at any moment... I was flipping channels only to see that some guy was making a comment about trains and JKR inspired something... Of course I had to stop and listen. Appearantly, Amtrak trains here in the US, had taken JKR's experience in discovering Harry for the first time while she was on a long train ride. They have decided to dedicate a whole train solely for the purpose of those people who want to write while on a long train ride. Honestly, I think it's so cool. I found in my past years of writing my little Rose stories as well as creating storylines be it for role play purposes or even short stories... I found it much easier when I would be going down the road.. Of course someone else would be driving so I would not need to be distracted by operating the vehicle I was riding in. However, changing scenery... no phones... no people really trying to talk to you... all of the time it took to get somewhere, I had the opportunity to let my own mind soar... even be inspired by a little thing I might see while out in the world. I love this idea of what Amtrak is doing and I also love how they were inspired by JKR to do this. I wonder if she knows, and if she does, what she thinks of it.

My Harry Potter dejavu... I'm currently in the middle of a Lost marathon. Then suddenly a couple of characters who we have seen for some time now suddenly start wearing round glasses. I sit here and say... when did those characters get themselves a pair of Harry Potter glasses? One of them never wore any glasses before this episode either... What's up with that?

My Harry Potter Dejavu... We went to see the movie Divergent yesterday. I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone, but I will say it was one of the best films I've seen this year. (I was not so impressed with the new Johnny Depp movie last week... Transcendant.) Anyway... Divergent was cool. I saw so many cool elements that I noticed other aspects of other great films. Since this is having to deal with Harry Potter dejavu's... I"ll just have to say... this movie has the teenagers when they come of age being "sorted" into different factions. They go through a psychological test that gives them some sort of direction as to what is inside of them with a name of faction they would do great in. However, they still have until the next day to decide where THEY themselves wish to be placed. This is such a huge decision that their choice determines where they will live for the rest of their lives. Here when the "sorting" choice is being made, I tell my family they need the Sorting Hat to help them decide if they still are not sure where they should be placed. HA! Watching this film, made me wonder if it's writer was inspired by JKR. I really do think so. It's still a pretty good movie that I would suggest as a must see for this year.

My Harry Potter Deja vu.... Yep! I still have them! "Follow the butterflies".... Hagrid said. Oh this is so cool... We've been seeing tons of different kinds of butterflies lately. I still keep the squirrel feeder filled with a corn cob on the tree right out front of my living room window. They sometimes like to sit on the huge nail that the feeder hangs from. Well... the other day, while one of the baby squirrels was sitting on that nail, chirping a low song, along came a set of three butterflies that seem to like to hang around a nearby blooming Crepe Myrtle tree. They looked as though they were doing some sort of mating fly pattern.. it was so weird. They flew in a bunch, extremely close to each other. (Two smaller ones around a larger colourful one.) Well, then they trio together flew right over and spooked the squirrel off it's nail and up the tree. It was so funny to see.

My HP deja vu:
I was driving on the highway a few days ago and at an exit along it, there's a large partially submerged pirate ship in a lake (it's some sort of advertisement for a boating store). Everytime I pass it, I can't help but think of the scene in GOF when Durmstrang's boat arrives at Hogwarts and emerges from the Great Lake.

That's so cool NZ. I think I would always have that scene come to my mind too if I saw that ship. ... My Harry Potter dejavu... There is this new commercial or something I have seen lately on tv where there is this turtle all painted red for some reason... Well, in my mind I can't help but think of Newt Scamanders book where he talks about a turtle that people glued jewels on. I can't remember if those were painted too, however, my mind goes to the Potter series whenever I see this on tv.

I was in downtown Toronto in one of the older neighborhoods, visiting a friend this weekend. It was nice weather so we decided to go for a walk.
There's this one house at the end of my friends street that's rumored to be haunted. It's a big castle-like house made of stone and has huge wooden front doors. During the walk we stopped in front of the house and noticed the owners has their fireplace on, so there was that wood-burning smell in the air.
The house reminded me so much of Hogwarts at that moment and I thought how cool it would be if the room that had the fireplace was like the Gryffindor Common Room.
