OK... We all have those times when we are out in the muggle world, dealing with our regular daily routines, then suddenly something we see, hear or experience will bring Harry Potter to our minds. This is a place to share those thoughts if you wish to. ~ I know whenever I turn down Myrtle Street, I can't help but think of Moaning Myrtle. ~ If I see a big black dog I think of a grimm or Sirius Black... ~ Whenever I look at computer stuff and see the letters "HP" I can't help but automatically call it Harry Potter (as in my computer is a HP) when really we know it stands for Hewlett Packer. ~ Then there was a time a few years back when I went on a road trip for a few days... I could not get Harry Potter out of my mind. SO I grabbed a pencil and paper and jotted down the references I saw along the way. I kept myself cracking up the whole way to our destination. Yep.. Goofy me. Then I had fun posting it online once I returned. I'll repost it here whenever I find where I stored it. Anyway... I hope this thread will be a fun place to recall and share these little instances where Harry's magic has spilled over into our muggle world.

I have a plush doll of a young wizard with black unruley hair and glasses with a lightning bolt emblazzened on his chest, so whenever I get a book from there or return a book I see him and think of Harry Potter. I'll have to think on this one some more since my mind is kind of foggy right now.

For me, everytime I go into an Ice Box to teach one of my younger students, it reminds me of the many years that I taught the Tots and Moms program and used large colored markers on the ice to draw Hogwarts and the characters for them to follow.
It was one of the most enjoyable times of my life.. Also, we set up dozens of Magical Trading Card accounts for each of the little ones to play with and collect the Virtual Magical Trading Cards. It was so much fun for them, their Moms and Dads and me too!

Right now, I have a beautiful sunny day going on outside... But for the past few days we have had plenty of strong, windy, thunderstorms. Over these few days, I often looked out at the skies via my living room window.. It has a large sliding glass door. That is my set of windows that lead to my balcony... So, I get a very good view of the skies. No trees up close to block the view either. Well, with the bad storms came the dark clouds. I often looked at them and recalled that Quidditch scene in POA where the Dementors were going after Harry. I half expected to see a dog shaped cloud up there over to the right, but it never formed. Nope... no grim for me... not yet at least. ;D

Last night, I was watching my copy of Poirot's, 'Death on the Nile.' For some time now, after GOF came out, I could not place why Maxime looked familiar to me... then there she be on the ship called the Karmak, ready to be on the list of murder suspects who might have done the deed. I must have seen this particular movie years ago and forgotten about it. Now I know the story all too well so I normally choose a different Poirot episode, book or film to emerse myself in. Last night, it looked strange seeing her at her normal height, dancing with Poirot who is supposed to be short. That's Hagrid's gal. ;D

I get a kick out of when a young skater makes a new program with their coach and we all get to hear the music for the first time while the skater is trying to learn the choreography...
We have one little one that skates to Hedwigs Theme.... I can not help but smile and look up even if I am on lesson with my own students...
He really is a cute kid and the program is very well done... Well, it should be, his coach was once one of my own students who is now grown up and coaching. Boy do I feel old sometimes!

I've often wondered if any of your students ever skated to any of the Harry Potter themes... so now we know. OK.... I've been saving a couple up to post here. Tonight, after dark, when I was on my way over to a friends house, I got behind some guy driving his motorcycle. This one had a side car. I half expected to see Hagrid on it. Too bad. The other night, I.... I.... Oh great. What a time to get a brain fart. I had two in mind to post from the past couple of days.. I remembered them right before I got home and how I wanted to post them. I guess I"ll jot them down when I remember them again.

OK.... Here is one of the two I forgot a few minutes ago...
Yesterday, my daughter and I were potting flowers into a couple of window boxes (and more) She filled up one with blue Pansy's and I filled up another with the large yellow daffodills (or narcissus.) Who can begin Spring without being reminded of the ladies of Harry Potter.

There is this small piece of music from the Harry Potter EA Video Games that seems to be a stock piece of music, that I have heard in T.V. Commercials etc... Also, J.K. Rowling has this Owl that hoots and then a Dog that barks when you go to her site. Well there is a commercial on T.V. where a young husband and wife are in a car and he remembers to tape Dancing with the Stars and that very same Owl and dog are heard in the background of the commercial... Drives me nuts! I then can not get Harry Potter out of my head!

The other night I went to the movies to see Limitless... in it there was this guy falling from a tall building.... well... it made me miss my Dumbledore once again. Ok.... I might need to back up a bit. This film is about a man who comes across a drug that he takes... a pill once a day that unlocks the full potential of his entire brain instead of just the 20 percent that we all normally use. This guy's abilities became limitless as to what he could do... Imagine a pill that makes you tons smarter than you ever were? Wow! Well... guess what the name of the pill was? NZT... Yep you guessed it... Once they told us what it was called I immediately thought of our very own Harry Potter friend NZ.

What great Deja Vu moments Miss C.
Here are a few of my own.
1) I was watching Air Force One about a month ago. The main terrorist is played by Gary Oldman. The entire movie I was thinking "Don't worry! Sirius is a good guy. Just think of Harry Potter." ;D
2) No double-decker will ever be looked at the same by me. Every time I see one, I think of that scene from POA where the Knight Bus squeezed between two normal double decker buses.

I wish we had double decker bus' here. We have to go to a theme park like Disney to see any that I know of HERE in the US. but along those lines.... Last night, while sitting in the front line waiting for a train to come and pass by... There I thought a happy thought. That would make my day if that lit up train was the Hogwarts Express. So, I smiled just like this. (It was a long train with 90 cars. Cool!)

It was snowing this morning when I left for the rink... It was still dark out and these huge flakes, I mean HUGE were falling all around me.
I looked across at the lake in my park across from my house and all I could envision was the scene from SS where Hagrid is walking across the Clock Tower court with the Christmas Tree and the snow is coming down around him in torrents.

Just a little while ago, I was stocking the crafts bead section. There was a packages of smaller packages of plastic beads for making jewlry. This particular one had the alphabet on them. So for the display on the front of those little packages there was a bracelet that spelled out the name "Lilly." "Haaaaaaarry." I said to myself with a grin on my face. ==== The other night while I was working my aisles where the office supplies are located, I pass by the endcap display where they have posters of all kinds. There on the side end was a box with a display of I think FIVE different Harry Potter Deathly Hallows posters.... I said "Haaaaaaaaaarry." Yes another grin on my face. ==== Then last night when I walked by the electronics department on my way in to work (By the way electronics department is right next to MY departments.) Well... of course they have up ALL sorts of displays to promote the DH DVD and BluRay. So I get to see Hagrid and Harry on the bike every time I'm on that side of my department. +=== OH and while I am on the subject... They did a first. With THIS release date, they had free cupcakes for the public. Each had a little Harry Potter House ring stuck on top of them. Of course I got me a Slytherin one.

It was funny, I was in Loews this past weekend on Sunday for what seemed like hundreds of hours picking through the appliances.
Well, they have their TV section right by the kitchens and guess what was on ever single TV the entire time I was shopping there?
Yep, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 and I have not even had a chance to open mine up!

I was walking my dog last week and met a friend walking with her brother-we all got to talking and somehow the subject of The Captain Kangaroo show came up. That show was such a part of my life growing up. They both remembered the same things I did-the songs, Bunny Rabbit and the ping pong balls. I had to laugh because while we were talking I was being reminded of a great talk I was involved in with my HP buddies on the first Lovegood Lounge. I remember having such a fun discussion with a lot of you about old tv shows, Captain Kangaroo among them. I get such a kick out of how it seems everything can be somehow tied in with Harry Potter!!
