Hey I just thought this might be needed...
A thread that gets people to talking... to find their interest.. then if we hit on something good... we find others here too like a certain TV show.. then I'd say... start a thread for that one.
I'm doing a copy and paste of a conversation already..
Duddah asks:
Fangsfan replies:
SO I think that is a very good question indeed.
One of MY favorite TV shows I have not really watched in a while.. I know it's available over the internet.. I have been planning to look it up for a few weeks now just to catch up..
... the show is any.. especially the original, Ghost Hunter's.

Miss Charlotte, I'm not sure I know that one but it sounds interesting. Isn't there a show called Ghost Whisperer or am I getting the two confused? On Mad Men last night one of the main characters best friends died. He woke up from sleep and she was standing there smiling lovingly at him with a suitcase in her hand, then walks off and kind of fades away. It kind of reminded me of Dumbledore and his next great adventure for some reason.

Yes, you are getting the 2 confused....I LOVE ghost whisperer...but it is a total fiction. Ghost hunters is a show (if I'm not mixing others up) that tries to get evidence of ghosts in known haunted spots. There's also ghost stories, which tries to disprove "evidence" (video, pictures, etc) by trying to recreate situations, and get the same results. all interesting!

Yeah... Ghost Hunters and it's spin offs, Ghost Hunters International... and I think they had grown to the point too many people were wanting to join their team so they decided to have a show where they train recruits how to do investigations properly.
Really, this show is based in Connecticut.. but then spread to the entire US. The International team travels the world. They all investigate real claims of hauntings. They try to disprove what ever the claim might be.. but if they can't then it's left up to really make you wonder. The main purpose to disproving is in hopes that they might help someone who thinks their house it haunted to the point they are scared to be in their own homes.. especially if there are kids involved they bump those cases in front of the others. They are hoping to find a reasonable explanation for the strange events the family etc. are experiencing. Sometimes it is reflections of car headlights... sometimes it's faulty wiring causing paranoia... Sometimes they find nothing.. but it's when they find things you can not explain.. Ooo I get goose bumps. I like to add my own opinion in there to explain what it could be. But their first order of business is to take into consideration what the people tell them... then check it out... then review the evidence... then meet again with the people and give a review. They are quiet through. As Erin said they also try to recreate the situation to disprove things.. Sometimes when a house is not level... it can cause stepping on certain spots on the floor.. then suddenly the closet door opens all on it's own. This is of course not a ghost.. but when they hear things caught on a digital recorder... or answers to questions asked but you can not hear them answer with your naked ears... then they review the recording and find they were in fact answered... Or when things move when there is no way something could have done that because no one was in the room.. all people were accounted for in other parts of the house... Then these guys are all pretty down to earth.. Not some kooks out to cause you to jump at the slightest thing.
I know one time.. I cracked up laughing.. I've watched so many different ghost stories to the point I can almost name them when they come on a different television show... then one.. where I believe they were in California at an old bar and inn.. I've heard the story a million times for about a decade or longer. So here they are called in to investigate the lady in blue, who supposedly committed suicide because her lover stood her up.. He never came to meet her. Well.. these guys were totally ticked off that these people were not honest with them. They found all sorts of booby traps hidden up inside the ceiling to make the hanging lights move... even in the ladies bathroom where there were reports that sometimes ladies have reported seeing a face behind them in the mirror when no one was around.. even voices in the hall(I think)... ALL a set up.. These guys were mad but still called them out on it and aired the show. ;D I wonder how those at that bar lived that one down after the show aired?

I've watched Ghost Whisperer a few times. Its a pretty good show.. I just don't like to cry... so I try not to watch the whole thing. Yeah... just call me chicken. ;D Ooo another good show.. but I have not seen it in years really... I can't think of the name... She'a a blonde haired mom of I think three little girls. She's married to this guy... Well, she sees things and helps out the police to solve certain crimes.. just a house wife. Arquett... I think is the last name of the lady in real life who plays her. Let me see... I love the Law and Orders... the CSI's... and The NCIS type shows. I don't watch them so much these days because I've seem most of them.. I just love Grissom and Horatio. It's hard to get tired of watching them... Oh and I like Sam Waterston... Is he even still on that show? After a while SVU really started to bother me.. so I quit watching that one. I did catch a rerun the other day. I also like The Real Detectives.. and shows like that. But after a while watching the real investigations... well... I end up having nightmares... and my nightmares are too vivid to let something like this influence them. I remember feeling so strongly about one dream that I got up from that dream and went straight to work... See, I had to leave my night shift work at Walmart a couple of years before.. So, when I started having nightmares of finding my friends as victims at a crime scene... I could not just turn over and go back to sleep.. I went to go check to see if they were alright. Of course they were all happy to see me drop in like that.. but it did feel good to aleviate my troubled mind. So these shows I have to watch them very sparingly. Hmm. I don't really watch daytime television. Survivor is my favorite.. but we already have a thread for that one.

Absolutely! Duddahs was a big time golfer when he was young and J.J. is a scratch golfer. Even Duddahs Dad is a big golfer as are his Nephews and Brother in Law... Tennis was big for me too when I was younger.. Not as much as skating but still very big. I competed heavily in a number of sports.. Guess I was just born to be a jock but somewhere along the lines decided to use my brains instead. And here I am not starting to move into a life of semi retirement... For some reason, I am so busy now that I am semi retired.. Not enough time to do much sitting down and just reading.. Nope not in the cards.

I do not know if anyone here is watching America Has Talent but last night was the Semi Finals...
Only Four acts get through to the finals next week and for me there are FIVE acts that all deserve to get through..
There is this 10 year old phenom Opera Singer who performed Requiem last night, the magnificent and over the top extravaganza called Prince Poppycock, a very soulful singer Michael Grimm, this great Vegas Quality act called Fighting Gravity and one of the best Magicians I have ever seen! All of them deserve to go to the final four.
But my two favorites are the 10 year old Opera Singer and Prince Poppycock... They really should make the final two and then it is a toss up for me... I will have to split my vote that night.

All of my favorites got through to the final, all except the Magician...
They sent him packing first.. I think they did it in the way of ripping off a band-aid... Quickly so we could then enjoy the rest of the show...
We all know one of the top 5 was not going to make it but it was sad none the less.

This is another one of my favorites... "Medium" I was so mad when NBC axed the show...but so glad when CBS picked it up, and continued where it had left off. Can't wait for the next season. I wish someone would pick up Ghost Whisperer...but I think if no one has done it yet, it may be too late. The actors/writers etc., may have already moved on to other things. Erin

I was just looking on my front Yahoo page... I have one option to see what is on television tonight... Well. The Ghost Whisperer is on the Syfy channell tonight. Most likely a rerun.. but still, it's something to check out to see if you like that show... I'll try to pay attention to that comercial so to see if they say if a new episode will come soon.. Then I'll tell you guys here.
Some of their programming is pretty good.. but then some is a bit lame... I know since I was so intensly into the Star Trek bit for about a decade going strong, not to mention growing up with it on nearly daily... I got to where most other tech stuff is predictable so I have not watched that type of programing that this channel has to offer on this type of show. But with magic.. there are so many different areas you can not predict. It's all up to the author just how far... what kinds of magic... what they won't do. So things like that is pretty interesting.
This channel does often take in old shows that did quite well on regular networks for years.. but instead of letting them go, they learned from the original Star Trek... some shows have a huge cult following and those faithful to that genera will keep watching even the reruns as well as if they decided to continue to write more using their own writers. At least with Merlin.. we know we are getting something from over seas... we still have the original writers. THey will keep more true to the spirit than a new team of writers would.
ok... rambling. sorry. Still... I wonder and will keep an eye out for news about the GW show.

Erin I have not watched the Simpsons in about 15 years. I take it that they are still making new ones? ;D So tell us how it went. I know Dan has been on that show more than once now that you add this one to the list. I seem to recall he being asked in an interview one of his favorite things... perks... something about being the one to play Harry. (I know I am butchering this interview question... ) But he said he loved being on the Simpson's show.

Yes! They are about to begin their 23rd season! Wow! This Halloween episode was divided into short stories, where Dan played the part of a vampire a la "Edward " from Twilight. It was cute and funny! I'll bet you can find it online...probably on the FOX website.

I don't have television service anymore, but when I did I really liked watching nature shows as well as science shows ranging from shows on the cosmos to shows how things work, and a variety within. I am a baseball fan of the New York Yankees too, but I tend to watch them on my computer from the mlb.com site. I am a huge fan of science fiction if it is well done, although I sort of do like science fiction even if it is only slightly good too. I am actually watching lots of old science fiction shows like space 1999, ufo, and quark to try and get some ideas for a science fiction show. I am currently writing a script for a firefly/dr. who crossover. When I have it complete I will send it to the bbc and joss whedon to see if there is any chance it can get made, or if I can get permission to make a fan movie of it using local actors.
