After a recent post by Fangsfan about WB memories I had this great idea for a thread.
This thread is exactly what the title says, it's a place for us to share our memories that we made and had on the Warner Bros site, for example, things we loved about the WB site, great periods of time on it, fun things we used to do on the site, etc.
I thought it would be a cool idea since many of us posted on different parts of the site and started posting at different times. Feel free to share whatever you'd like!

I remember on the Magical Trading Cards board our dearest Madame Snape had this thread called "Madame's Late Night Coffee Shop". It was basically a thread where we talked about anything that interested us or anything that was going on at that point in time. In a way it was much like the Head Table thread on this site. I got to know many of my closest WB friends like Duddahs and Madame on that thread and always loved posting there.

NZ, when I was making my Shhh post I was thinking to myself how I wished we could have a thread for our memories-it's so cool that you did this. I remember when I first starting going on the WB I didn't have my own computer. My sister would come home on weekends and bring her PC so I could pour over all the WB posts for the week. This was after HPB had come out but before DH-you can imagine how busy the boards were. I was about as uncomputer savvy as you could be, I said to my sister ":Why do all these people keep coming on and just putting BUMP?" I really had no idea and she had to explain it to me.

OH goodness! Boy I could really post a TON of stuff .... wait.. why not? Come on everyone, I am sure we could really fill this thread up fast. :|Great thread NZ!
OK... for me, for NOW... I'll post my first time over there. (but really I think you guys have already heard this story a million times. Sorry.... or skip if you want. eek.)
.......
Back when they were showing the COS movie trailer, before the movie came out, I was going nuts trying to figure out who in the world that guy with the long blonde hair was. I just began to read the potter series that was out thusfar. I was so happy to see a book, I just finished reading for the first time, about to come out at the big screen. I knew my memory of the books was not failing me. I didn't recognize Lucius Malfoy's line about 'Potter being around to save the day'... Nor did that book describe any wizard with long blonde hair. I actually went back to the books to look. Nothing. They played the commercial too many times to the point it really bugged me too much not knowing who he was. (However, my main draw was still Snape from the first film. He is the one who inspired me to read the books in the first place. My daughter had to watch the first film every night while she fell asleep. I was hooked.)
My hubby just bought our first PC. Remember Dial up??? He was so annoyed that I refused to sit down at it. He kept trying to tell me all of the things I could do online. Still, he hardly sat at it either. It was there for months before I started seeing the COS movie trailer.
Then I thought, why not try this thing out and see if I can find out who this guy was. I discovered Google that day, and figured out how to use it. The whole reason I chose the WB over any other sites was the fact they were the ones making the movie.... that is IF that was something possible to look up. LOL. I clicked on it and there it was. I didn't know what a dialogue board was, but from the beginning of the site, it really didn't give any details about the film. I said PHOOEY to myself. So, I clicked the dialogue board to find out what that was. It sent me straight to the sorting hat to be sorted. I thought WHAT THE HECK IS THIS??? I laughed so hard. I got Slytherin right away. This was a cool site!!!!! LOL! I"m going to keep going.
That took me to the front page where I was completely lost. No movie information anywhere to be found. The sorting hat said I was in slytherin so that is where I went. I lurked for a few nights, after I put the family to bed. I had to return the second night because of something I saw on night one. On the slytherin board, there were these topics that kept moving around so quickly, it took me a while to realize that it was because there were people there at THAT VERY MOMENT making comments... Those comments were bumping those threads, pushing other threads to the next page. I was so confused not realizing there was a second page. Threads kept disappearing. Yep. I was green alright. LOL.
When I figured all of this out, I found a thread called Malfoy Manor. I clicked that only to see there were several people there PRETENDING to be the Malfoys. I said it again... WHAT THE HECK? LOL. THESE PEOPLE ARE AS NUTS AS I AM! LOL. So, I watched as Lucius and Narcissa were sitting down at the dinner table. A house elf was bouncing into the room, and being treated like a house elf. Draco came in late and acted like a teen alright. He ordered the house elf to bring him a plate of spaghetti then complained while he waited for it. Eventually, the plate of food was spilled on him, he kicked the house elf, then went up stairs to his room mad.
In the mean time, while they were waiting for their food, Lucius and Narcissa were talking about things that had gone on during the day... nothing mentioned in the books, but something they were just talking about. Suddenly, there was some person popped in there asking if they could join in on the role play. The Malfoy's ignored the person. That person kept saying they'd like to do this, or that, or they could also play a different character all together. The malfoy's still did not reply to the person. Suddenly, an entirely different house elf popped in there to tend to the intruder. He was asked to leave that he was not an invited guest. The kid still refused to stop commenting during their play. The Malfoy's continued to have their conversation. Eventually, the house elf warned the intruder that if they don't leave right away, they would be thrown to the hellhounds. Again, I thought to myself, WHAT THE HECK??? WHAT'S A HELLHOUND? That's not in the books. Suddenly, the intruder told the new house elf that they were being rude, that they only wanted to join the play that's all. ....... (See, at the bottom of each person's post was a signature. At that time, in Malfoy Manor's siggy, there was a link taking you to an off site page explaining the rules of HOW to join their role play... it was quite strict and extensive, but well worth it.) This was pointed out by the house elf to the kid. The kid still would not stop talking saying they were not going to leave. So... That's when it happened. That house elf grabbed the intruder and drug him outside where FIVE hellhounds were summoned from across the property. Another person came on actually playing the part of the hounds. They explained in too much detail how they shredded this guy limb from limb. The kid said, that's not fair and became more grumpy than before for being ignored by the malfoys. A second later one of the Host Witches.... (HostWitchSnitch I think)... came in there and said... guys, you all need to play nice now. She said they know they don't want for her to have to delete the thread. ALL of the cast members politely apologized, not just the house elf, and promised to behave. However, Snitch did point out to the kid, that they were not to post there unless invited. The kid didn't come back, he was so disgusted. This is when Draco's spaghetti was served. A few minutes later, the malfoy's decided to hit the sack as well.
I thought to myself, what a weird place? Again, I laughed thinking they are just like me, to come online and do something so weird like this. LOL!!!!

Glad to see you all are enjoying the thread! Fangsfan I do remember all the "bump" posts, trying to get a thread back onto the 1st page. The boards were fast paced at the time and I remember threads being all over the place whenever I refreshed the page! Miss Charlotte, thanks for sharing your story, I've never heard it before. I always found the RP sections of the boards the most overwhelming (probably because they moved so fast). I'll have to share my first RP story sometime soon, once I remember all of it

One of my favourite parts of the WB site was the "Diagon Alley" board, where all of the imaging threads were. There were probably over a dozen threads devoted to making signatures, banners, etc. for everyone. I even had my own at one point "Nz101nz Imaging Shop" (though I wasn't very good at it).
One of the best artists on that board was James over on the Potter's Pensieve thread. He was a very talented individual and is creator of the One Million for DH thread banner and signature pic. He also made the thread banner for my quiz.

I remember all of the who is RAB threads. Even though it seemed like a lot of people had it figured out there seemed to be new threads popping up every day. I think people felt like Regulus was too easy an answer and there must be another answer.

Ooo yeah.. I remember Dobbysocks thought it was his personal victory to have come up with that one. LOL. Oh I'm so mean. I should not say it like that. ... I need to go tend to the muggles for a while. In the mean time I'll have to think of something more to add here. I spent what I guess would be 10 years off and on over there. Lots of memories to dig up. LOVE IT! ... I also remember those threads too over at Diagon Alley board. I never could get something made over there. I think I jumped in way too late. Remember Rallem? On his own, he made and gave me a gift of the old "New Quibbler Magazine" thread banner I used over there. I still have it saved somewhere on my computer. ... Remember Cardman? He also gifted me with the old "Lovegood Lounge" thread banner. ... One more memory before I head out for the day.... I remember all of the threads (Like our Millionare's thread) but THEY were only posting for counts. (At least HERE we are going for counts WITH wonderful Harry Potter discussions.) I had never really seen one before that last one that popped up over at the book section in the last days. They made me so frustrated. Really, I should not have. But just posting a single image that was not even remotely related to Harry Potter... or any discussions at all related to the books... just to bump the count. I used to complain about that very loudly. (I'll have to come back and comment about my Umgridge screen name. LOL.) I mean.... posing an image of bugs bunny, or ANY Egyptian image just to hit the post count. (Some of those Egyptian images were of fallic symbols. I probably spelled that wrong. But what I'm saying, they had no idea what they were putting up on this kidfriendly website. ) OH and then I would wait to see when they would finally sign off, so I can finally post something on my own threads, so it would not be bumped down to page two so soon... only to find they only signed off, to pass the torch to someone on the other side of the world, who was digging in to make their own 12 hour posting spree!!!!!! It was nonstop. If it was not for just that one thread, I used to be so frustrated with the rest of the threads that were like our ONE head table... then game threads taking over the "book conversation" section instead of over at the "game" section. (edited to add: I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND ALL OF THIS NOW. I wish I did back then. ) Anyway, all of these would push all of the real discussions back to page two where anyone NEW would never find them. All they saw and THEY TOO complained that the books were dead because no one ever discussed the books anymore. WOW... remember those days? I know this is NOT really a pleasant memory, but at least people were there... were talking... had friends who loved the books/films. I honestly, wish I had not been so easily annoyed back then. Since then, I've learned to curb my OCD and try to just live life. Yes... I had many regrets... but I still miss those days.

I remember both Rallem and Cardman and the banners. I remember Cardman posted a picture of a building that said Lovegood Lounge and I copied and pasted it as my desktop for a while. I never had any idea that was how they were doing the million threads, I agree our way is much better. I always thought I'd like to be part of one of those threads but not doing it that way. It's funny I remember the game threads too but I used to go over to the Sorting Hat section to play them But then sometimes someone would start a thread in the book section about why was Peter sorted into Gryffindor or something like that-they would even look at it, they'd just shift it over to the Sorting Hat section-used to drive me crazy!

Wow... I don't remember that one. Still, I think it's cool that you did that.
By the way I understood the way they did their thread (or at least the one over on the book series board) they very much welcomed Harry Potter discussions, anything as long as it made for the post count. So, you sure could have jumped in and had fun. If my memory is right, there were scheduled games they did ON their -for the million, thread.
SO.... saying that. I also remember having fun with Cardman's game thread. He made one for that was like a crossword puzzle. Oh how I wish I knew how he did it. I'd love to have his games here for us to play. Another he called Jo-pardy like Jepordy tv show with Alex Trebeck (not sure if I spelled either of those right.) He was going to do a Family Feud Harry Potter style but we didn't have enough people for both teams AND we would have to all get together at the same time. I remember there was one time, for the Jo-pardy game, I had to pick up the kids from school in the afternoons. I had to rush home from there to be able to join in on the game. - Now my son graduated from school several years ago, and my daughter drives herself to/from school all on her own.

Yup, those games were great. I love Scar-able too! That was it! I thought it was a cross word. Really, he gave me permission to save as much even all of those games he made, so I did. I just dont' know how to work it from behind the scenes.... like the host of the game.
....
Hmm... let me see.... what else could I quickly post here about the old days....
OOOooo! Remember all of those personal smileys that I think his name was (and feel free to correct me if you know who I'm talking about and I mess up his name).. Hostwizard Midnight... or Justin... or something like that. He made the cool EXTRA smileys that we used to use over there. HEY NZ... guess what? I have them all saved. Remember the pumpkin pie? or the chocolate frog? or the pink milkshake? I think there was that sign of three like on the show Charmed? or remember the coffee cup? I'm pretty sure I have them all. HEY.... sounds like something I can go dig up and post ON this thread.

I remember they had all kinds of smileys that I loved too. This is a little more recent memory-but I remember I loved it when Erin reposted all the Wombat questions and we all tried to answer them. I think maybe this was on the Lovegood Lounge thread? I had missed the Wombats when they came out and found a lot of these questions intriguing.

Another memory-I remember when I first found the moderators thread. All kinds of questions were answered on there but also, boy did people like to argue on that thread. I used to peek in just to see what kind of uproar was going on every day.

Yeah, those were like soap opera threads to me. So chocked full of drama. What got me most about those threads... so many people did the same thing as so many other people, and still acted like they didn't know what they did wrong. Just backread the thread and you could see that you were not targeted alone. People liked to push the limits when rules were set.
OH and another thing... seeing people pop on those threads asking for their thread banners to be established OR changed to a new one.

Another thing I remember about that site.... I thought it wonderful that it was supposed to be kid friendly. It's amazing to get to meet and hang out with people of all ages. We all had a mutual love for the Potter series. I can't remember if the youngest person I found myself in a conversation with was 7... I think. She said the read the whole book. WOW. I was still learning HOW to read at that age. Then there were people who were grandparents posting there too. Also, how vast the WB members were. They were from all over the world. Remember Lily_hbp? She was not the first person I became great friends with from there where English was not her first langage. Lets see.... just some of the other countries... Of course Canada, Belgum, England, Wasn't Dobbysocks living in Egypt even though he was from Europe? Ok... then there's mexico. I also remember Singapore .. yes I do remember where one of our own members here is from. To me, this shows how wonderful the internet is. For people from around the world to be able to meet and become friends who never would have even been able to get to know each other otherwise.
