Right now I'm doing a surprise for our site, so I can't really get to finding that thumbdrive at this moment. YOu know how that is when you put things in a safe place so you won't lose them, only for you to forget where that safe place is? UGH! I have FOUR very important thumb drives all too safe to find. LOL!
OK.... Why I quoted your post.... I know you were over at the WB in a different part of the site where others from HERE were regulars as well. Were you, or did you happen to safe any images of any kind/sort from over there? I'm sure this thread would love seeing any at all. If not, oh well. That was a while back anyway.
miss c, no, i don't have any of the pics from wb. Ah well, It was worth a try to ask. Thanks anyway.
Hey guys.... Remember these from back then?
I wish I had the whole listing. I found a couple more that are in the hundreds.

Another memory-we had lots of polls but I really liked voting for our favorite chapters. It was fun to go back and see what was in each chapter and why we liked it. I remember The Princes Tale had way more votes than anything else.

You are making me want to go back and reread the series right now.
Yep, that was one of my favorite chapters as well.
(ok.... got to go fix whatever this is in our smileys list. )

Another thing that was fun about the WB was each movie had its own special thread. I remember we would all discuss how they differed from the books. I also remember this one thread on the kiss between Harry and Ginny in the ROR that went on forever-everyone discussing which scene they liked better, book or movie.

Another memory I have of WB-moderators. This was the first site I ever went on that had moderators. I think it must be a fascinating job-although I know of one moderator who I felt abused the position and deliberately antagonized a member to the point this person got banned and then ended up leaving the site. But many of them were just lovely and were very supportive of the members and encouraged us to be creative. . I also know they used to have something called hosts-I missed all this as it was before my time but I know lots of you here could explain more about this-the hosts seemed like really nice people from what I heard about them.

I also know they used to have something called hosts-I missed all this as it was before my time but I know lots of you here could explain more about this-the hosts seemed like really nice people from what I heard about them. OH gosh... I am sure some of us could tell you good wonderful things about the hosts as well as a list of bad. Really, hosts were the same as mods. If I'm remembering things correctly, the hosts were volunteers who wanted to make sure the WB site was kept safe. The Moderator service that the WB later hired, was a paid service. That mod service also moderated other non harry potter sites. It was simply a job for them. Although, I honestly believe that Willow started with the best of intentions. She felt lucky that she already was a Harry Potter fan.
I think, in the beginning, the Hostwitches/hostwizards really had good intentions. For the most part they were nice and did help keep the member's in line. They also helped when there were tech issues, if they could. I remember one hostwizard that made all of those cool Harry Potter smileys that have been mentioned here... the snitch, coffee mug, pumpkin pie, shake and such.
The first major downfall of the site, I believe happened when the members liked to smooze the hosts. They did it just to get in good with those who were running the place. I mean, it's obvious if you are running a site, you really like being a part of, that you will make friends. Still, some members had alterior motives and pushed that fact. The hosts ended up having some favorites who liked to try to get away with breaking some rules. That's when a lot of things went wrong. Others who were not favorites started to cause trouble just for the sake of it. My opinion, it was the beginning of the downfall of the site. I had left before the hosts were let go. I think I returned just before, the Moderator service was already in place. Hmm? Was there a limbo in between?
I really understood when the mod service made a main rule that ONLY ONE of the mods were allowed to talk/communicate to the members. They learned from the Hosts that were there before. Hmm? Not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but I think (and I might be wrong) that some of the hosts were actually hired on as some of the silent mod staff. That might have been just a rumor.
Really.... I think I've learned a lot about running a site, by watching what mistakes they've made. Duddahs and I, being the Lounge's hosts/moderators, I can only hope all will always go well. I do think our situation here, being such a small close group, that things here will always be fine. We are not like the WB as a whole. We are so lucky to have a regular group of members, who all love spending time with each other when we can.

Another memory that occurred to me lately-all the threads after Dumbledore died, speculating on whether he was really dead or not. I remember hearing about the Dumbledore is Not Dead website and checking it out and what they said made sense. Finally when JKR came out and said that DD was really dead because she wanted Harry to have to go it alone in the end-that was when I finally started believing it. But I still remember the discussions and new threads coming out every day on this topic.

I think what happened to calm me down, she told us that we will learn a lot more about Dumbledore in the final book. Actually, after all is said and done, I think she did a great job. I love how Auntie Muriel asked harry if he even knew Albus at all. I know it happened that way in the movie, but I think it was someone else who actually said it in the book.
I desperately need to reread DH again. It's been far too long and few times for me.

Duddahs was wondering if anyone knows if there are pictorial copies of the WB Harry Potter trading cards from the daily collectors game many of us played on teams collecting?

Duddahs was wondering if anyone knows if there are pictorial copies of the WB Harry Potter trading cards from the daily collectors game many of us played on teams collecting? Yeah. You can google them. Getting several different kinds of the Harry Potter cards saved to my computer... I was preparing for the Loungers to post individual cards on our thread. But yes, they are out there. Let me see if I can find some and post a couple right now.. be right back back After some research I realize the ones I originally were the online trading cards you guys used to do are actually ones you can buy. phooey! now it makes sense why I was the only one posting regularly on that thread. i'm sure someone has them online somewhere to find. Too many people were passionate about that site to not keep them saved somehow. ugh.

Duddahs was wondering if anyone knows if there are pictorial copies of the WB Harry Potter trading cards from the daily collectors game many of us played on teams collecting? I had found some a while ago...the entire set from Chamber of secrets, and I think I saved them, along with all of my old Pottermore screen shots on my old computer. Anything I had time to edit, I saved to Dropbox. But those, and many of the Pottermore ones are stuck on my old hard drive. The geek squad tried to get my data for me, but they said they'd have to send it out...for $400. So for now, the drive is sitting in a drawer. Not sure that's it's worth that much money... I tried searching for them yesterday, but had no luck. Erin

Phooey. I wonder if that site had them copyrighted so if any were found elsewhere, they were taken down.
I honestly thought there were more found back when I started the Card thread. I don't blame you, 400 dollars is a lot. Sorry for your loss of a lot of cool stuff.
I'm going to keep looking. I'm sure there's some hiding somewhere. I just wish I had ONE single image to go on, so I don't pass it up. I was a member of that site (I don't even remember the actual web address, even though I know it's taken down.) I was only there a couple of times. I was so overwhelmed trying to catch up to the other competitors I just thought I'd go back to the WB site and talk about the books.
Hey.... was it actually a WB card site or was it something that the WB linked everyone to?

Tokenzone sounds familiar. Even though I never really visited that site very often, I vaguely remember.... were they images that were not from the films? I mean they were drawn by an artist?
I will have to look something up. I know someone who has I think two sites where you can look up a lot of OLD websites that are no longer online... it's from a remember the past something.
If someone from here could post the exact link to the old website if you still might have it, where you collected all of the cards, it's my hope we might could use it to get the old info from. We might could salvage something from it. I could do all of the work if someone saved the link and can put it here.

Duddahs was the one who provided the daily links for the token zone urls over the final 5 years that they were active.
Unfortunately, one by one the links became disabled and no more cards were available. Duddahs and his team mates of card collectors, including our own NZ101NZ and Mmesnape held the greatest team card total collected during the majority of the final 5 years of the HP site existence.
Alas Duddahs has since lost his files to computer crashes over the past decade and copies of his over 1.5 million tokenzone collected cards have been lost to time and space.
How much fun it was though!

Well, I'm still going to try to find the old links. I do have an idea. I keep my old friend's links. One friend from the WB days, sent me kept trying to get me to go there and so, in conversations we had via emails back in those days they were sending me links to that site. If I do find those emails, I might find the exact links. This really is a long shot. I'm not even sure if I can find the site that I've seen posted elsewhere that can give views of old inactive websites or if it's even able to work for sites like that. I'm just hoping.
Hey! I know what I need.... a bottle of liquid luck.

I was thinking today about right before the last book came out-JKR said we should be asking why Dumbledore had James invisibility cloak and the WB boards went crazy trying to figure it out!

I have a memory of Miss Charlotte starting a brand new thread on the WB and it was called Harry Potter Thought for the Day-as I have just been posting and backreading on this same thread on The Lounge, I thought how great it is that we've all kept that thread alive and strong to this day.
