My Harry Potter thought for today;
When the wizarding world was celebrating the supposed defeat of Voldemort when Harry's parents were murdered, did the muggle world see the celebrations as anything other than Halloween?

That would have been perfect though due to the fact it was WITCHES who were shooting off those fireworks. LOL! I never thought about that before. I just figured they shrugged it off, but your thought really does fit.
Thoughts for today....
I wonder how it was that Dobby was able to find Harry at the Dursleys? Also, I wondered how long he had been watching Harry that summer before he revealed himself? I know he had been stealing Harry's school friend's letters all summer.
Another Harry Potter thought for the day....
I wonder if Dobby used to jump on any of the Malfoy's beds too? LOL!

Was rereading the part where DD first mentions how Tom cursed the DADA job and they couldn't keep a teacher for over a year. What if DD had closed that class permanently and came up with a new class-given it a new title and had some other things taught along with the original DADA topics. I wonder if that would have stopped the curse?

Since this is Harry Potter and JKR's birthday weekend, they are doing a marathon on Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family)
My (or our) Harry Potter thought for the day....
Well, daughter and I were watching a bit of Chamber of Secrets yesterday, and started wondering what a baby House Elf would look like... how small it would be as a newborn. Last week I was reading Duddahs latest fanfiction edition for Iron Gates that also made me think of a baby house elf. Well, daughter and I was imagining they would be born this size of a grown hamster. What do you guys think?

I wonder if that would have stopped the curse? Ooo. Now that's an idea. I wonder if it might end up the same because of the subject matter? Maybe not.
YOu know... just now thinking about the amount of stuff taught in that class, Harry did it all in the Room or Requirement but it was not a daily thing, nor was it from a book, nor was it something that had a lot of subject matter. It was more do this and practice until you get it right. I don't recall any of the teachers doing a lot of active practice aside from that one time with Snape trying to teach nonverbal spells. Most of it was book stuff for when the teachers taught the class.
Still, if it were more focused on Defense practice and had other subject matter mixed in there... Wait... I guess the books were mainly a HISTORY of Defense. That would be cool to think of what could be taught in a class like that.
My thoughts were always what if Dumbledore DID in fact let Riddle teach DADA? How would that have turned out.

I think that had Dumbledore allowed Tom Riddle to teach Dada, the entire wizarding world would have been converted to the dark side for centuries to come.

My thought for the day is from my recent reread of DH. Harry has come back watching Snape's memories and "could not seen any of the people he loved, no hint of Hermione, Ron, Ginny, or any of the other Weasleys, no Luna." I loved that he included Luna with all these special people, since she's become one of my all time favorite characters. I also think it's cool that JKR could create such a popular character, when she only appeared for the first time during the fifth book. This is my TFTD.

My Harry Potter Thought for the Day....
Since Filch is the caretaker of the school, but Hagrid is the holder of the keys and grounds of Hogwarts. Does this mean that one tends to the duties INSIDE the school and the other outside?
If so, we know that the House elves actually do the cooking, cleaning and laundry of those staying at the school, does this mean that Filch might be the House elves boss?
......
Another thought that I had for the other day while watching HP HBP on tv....
Also, since Newt Scamander is so fresh in our minds these days.... I wonder if he is how Albus and Fawkes were introduced?

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Do you think that the remains of the Hogwarts Christmas Trees were cut up and put into the fire places for warmth in the great hall or do you think they were cut up into smaller pieces and used in the individual house common rooms?

Love the pic of Dolores!
My thought for the day-I wonder what subjects are taught in the final year of Hogwarts-the one that Harry missed? I'm interested to know if they had classes on non verbal spells since they seem to be so difficult and not many can do them, and it seems to me they would be so useful? Or would that be something you would do as a more specialized class for Hogwarts graduates?

My Harry Potter thought for today;
What sort of fish live in Hogwarts lake since the giant squid and Merpeople are most likely salt water or at least brackish in nature.

I'm guessing most, if not all of the fish/creatures in the Black Lake are not of the muggle world. We know there are grindylows in there...I can't remember if other creatures were mentioned during the tri-wizard tournament (besides the giant squid and merpeople). There must be other creatures. Might be time to find my copy of FBAWTFT! Come to think of it, it would have been funny if the giant squid kept trying to save the champions during the tournament, the way he did Dennis Creevey! Erin
