watching POA tonight, James asked "What if your biggest fear was a boggart?" And that got me thinking...if that were the case, would you be able to see waht a boggart really looks like? or would it be whatever your mind thinks a boggart looks like? or something else?

I once read an article on Mugglenet where they said one way to figure out the mysteries of Harry Potter (this was before book 7 came out) was that Ron is always wrong and Hermione was always right. I'm a huge Hermione fan but noticed on my reread of book 5 something she definitely got wrong. Her dismissive attitude about Luna in the first part of the book-definitely a mistake as Luna became one of the best friends they had-my thought for the day.

Oh, so very true! Unfortunately I am not the uber fan of Hermione but a very big fan. I saw a number of times how she was not on the right side of being correct. This is how all of the Golden Trio were to Duddahs.
Duddahs feels that only one person, ONE person what correct almost all of the time and that was Sybill Trelawney, and to be honest with you, I do not believe that she even realized that she knew what she was talking about most of the time.

I got so excited when I read this because I have thought the same thing about Trelawney-a lot of the things she says actually come true. I'm rereading OOP and came across the part where Umbridge inspects her class, tells her to predict something, and she predicts Umbridge will be in grave danger. And of course she was, from the centaurs. I have always thought it would be fun to get all her predictions from all the books and see how many came true.

Yeah... You guys are not alone. I've always thought she was spot on with her predictions, but never really knew what she was talking about the whole time.
Fangsfan... actually, that was one of my goals back on the New Magazine thread, to gather all of her predictions and discuss them in detail. I did start my "Grandpa's thought for the day" but never got it all summed up in time before the last book came out. I wish I had kept to it. Of course I still have all of my notes, it's just where on my computer are they now? LOL!

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Duddahs wonders if Sybil Trelawney stayed on as a Hogwarts professor after the rebuilding on Hogwarts?

Miss Charlotte I think I remember that now, I wonder if your thread was what put that idea about Trelawney in my head? Duddahs, I always thought she would stay on but also hoped she would continue to share the duties with Firenze, I loved his teaching style.

My thought for today came from rereading OOP. At the first DA class, Harry had them pair off to practice spells and it said Neville was partnerless as usual so Harry teamed up with him. I wonder how this would have changed by the end of DH, I'll bet everyone would be lining up to be partners with Neville.

One thing I was always happy about, when the rest of the students were cheering when Neville finally was able to perform the disarming spell/charm. I know that had to have given him a boost of confidence just to have them rooting for him like that. It had to have made it a bit easier to do more spells with confidence knowing he had their support.

I wonder if there is a difference in the Lumos and Lumos Maximus spells Maybe one is a little light, and the other is a BRIGHT light?
I never thought about this one before.

My Harry Potter thought for the day.... For some time now, I've wondered if Snape ever shared his suspicions about Quirrell with Dumbledore?

Another Harry Potter thought for the day... I wonder if Professor McGonagall was watching Ron and Harry play wizards chess and might have chosen that to be her challenge for the Stone? Wait....na. Knowing how she was so protective, she would have been more adamant that Harry in particular not be even close to any of those challenges for the stone.

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Duddahs wonders if the fireplaces in the dorms blew out cold air on hot days.

My Harry Potter thought for the day....
While I was looking up stuff to put for the "On this Date" plugin I noticed over my research shows that Dudley's birthday is a month ahead of Harry's. Then I noticed that (which I have not yet confirmed or debunked) that some school events were still going on at the end of June.
SO! Do any of you have any idea (or theory) as to when the last day of Hogwarts school usually is? From my own thoughts, I had always thought most likely it's around the first of June.... maybe because it's about that time when our schools let out for the summer there.

Duddahs thought for today; Do you think Hagrid breeds owls in the owlery? This is a great thought and didn't Harry and Hagrid go to Eyelops Owl Emporium to get Hagrid? Wouldn't it be wonderful if she came from the line of owls Hagrid bred?

That's a cool thought. I'll bet the ones that bite would be also ones Hagrid bred. LOL.
....
My Harry Potter thought for the day....
Right now, I'm sitting out on my back porch and it's just past 11 pm. The crickets are chirping and I've counted 6 satelites and two meteorites seen tonight. Well, I've been out here for a couple of hours now. No moon tonight and I got to thinking about the centars and how they love looking at the skies so much. Yep, I'm still Harry Potter minded.
My HP thought for tonight, I wonder if they would have seen the satelites and knew that they had to be muggle made.... or even knew what they were? I guess these are more for the "Ask Jo" thread. LOL.
Another thought... I wonder what their young would be like?
....
OK I'm on a roll!
Another Harry Potter thought for the day....
I wonder how old the very first prophecy was that was located in the Department of Mysteries. Divination seems to be seen by many to be unreliable, but for that many prophecy orbs to be in there, there must have been a lot of witches/wizards who had the true gift.
