Oh...poor Hermione!! ...and poor kid. I just never understand parents swearing around their kids. Not that an occasional slip is so terrible...but my kids would be shocked if I ever let one out in front of them. I just can't see how that's healthy.
Duddahs...your neighbor sounds a little bit like one of mine...but not quite as bad as yours. Our neighbor is actually pretty decent..but I wouldn't be surprised if he has aspergers....absolutley no social awareness! He decided he was going to ditch his car....and parked it on our property on the other side of a fence we put up....it doesn't even border his property...it's just a place to park when we have lots of guests, or anything heavy to carry in...instead of having to go up a long flight of stairs. So after a week, I figured that it wasn't going to move unless I said something about it...so I did...nicely, and he moved it right away. Then he came over and was trying to tell me that if I ever have a problem, to please come and tell him (which I thought I did!). I was laughing while telling my husband about this, and he told me that when he was mowing the lawn the other day, he realized that this neighbor had nailed a tarp to cover his wood pile, to the only part of the fence we have replaced! We are trying to replace all of it, but need to wait as we get the $$, so we're doing it a few sections at a time. Yikes! This guy really means no harm, he's very technically smart, and he tries to be so nice to our kids...and he loves his own kids...he just doesn't have common sense! Now, we have a neighbor up the road who sounds a lot like your neighbor! Thankfully they're far enough up the road that we don't have to deal with him much.

Looking through old things of mine while at my parent's house brought back lots of memories...and a connection to Harry Potter that I hadn't even thought of! I used to play an intramural game that is (in my opinion) as close to quidditch as muggles can get! Duddahs...you probably know this one. It's called Broomball! It's a game played on the ice, but in sneakers. Each player has a BROOM (all molded plastic), and the rules are the same as hockey, but you play with a blue ball, slightly larger than a softball. It was a co-ed game (like the house teams...except Slytherin). My first year, we had a decent team. We used to trade off being goalie, because no one wanted to do it. My turn came near the end of the season, and as it turns out, I was pretty good at it...and I liked it! So I told our captain that I would like to be goalie (keeper!) for the team. The next season, I was in goal for all the games, and shut out every game until the semi-finals in the playoffs. The guy who got the goal usually refereed our games (we didn't play against them in the regular season), and when he scored, he said he was psyched to get a goal against me! Lol. That game ended our season, but I remember it being so much fun...and it totally reminded me of quidditch!

OH Yes for sure Erin. Broom Ball was a staple out on Mirror Lake at Lake Placid in the Wintertime.
We must have been nuts as kids. On the ice all morning and day and long into the eve and what did we do in our spare time? Ice and snow sports! Of course. ;D

I only caught the tail end of the show, and I'm not sure it really does exist...but it really is a legend, and they did find some creature that they think it was based on. I hope to catch it again soon (the show...not the kappa )! Yesterday at lunch, our waiter had the dark mark tattooed on his arm. I told him I liked it, and he asked if i knew what it was. He said people have told him they liked it, without knowing what it meant, and he thought it was cool that I did know! Erin

Saturday I was invited to a party at a coworker's house-one of the kind where they are selling stuff. They said they were going to have a game and I thought oh no, because I'm not always good at that kind of thing. It turned out to be a game where they said a letter (which turned out to be the first letter of one of the products) and you had to find something in your purse that began with that letter. Well, I felt right at home playing that game and I realized why-I owe it all to the ABC Harry Potter thread!

I had a Lovegood Lounge Deja vu today. I've been off playing a game I bought myself for the computer. I bought it a month ago to give to myself for my birthday. I LOVE search and find computer games... not the cheesy ones but the ones where they are a challenge. Each seems to be a bit different and has a different set of goals of some sort... they each have their own theme. I like the mystery ones, where you are trying to solve the murder... Well, I bought one called The 13th Skull. It's a pirate story... In this one there are lots of mysteries. A guy goes missing and we are trying to find out what happened to him. There are ghosts and an old creepy mansion. His family, a wife and little daughter are worried. The town setting is the swamplands of Lousiana. We are also trying to find the treasure since that is why he went missing. The town does not seem to even care that he's gone. There is a curse too for anyone who tries to get the ghost pirate's treasure. So I'm running all over the mansion and the town, looking for clues as well as for several lists of things to look for along the way... several challenges. OH and this one has puzzles that are quite a challenge. Yesterday I spent an hour and a half on one puzzle... LOVED it! OK.... Where does this fit in for this thread? One of the neighbor's up the street... a couple. A guy named Cooter sits on his front porch with his shotgun waiting for me to deliver the gumbo I just made in town at the tavern. When I do I get to question him about the missing guy. Then I have to find all of the parts for the air conditioner unit and put them into place before I can go inside of the house to talk to his missus. She sits there never allowed to go out of her house. Her hubby thinks if she does then she might just run off with some guy. SO she sits in her house watching television and collects dolls... OH she wears her house coat and has her hair up in pink curlers. HER name is Charlotte. Now I don't wear my hair in curlers.. Don't need any since my hair is naturally curly. And I don't own a house coat. Funny, because all of the rest once fit me to a tee. ;D I just died laughing when I saw her today. Hmmm? I'm thinking about redoing my avatar... pink curlers might be fun for a while.

OH NO!
You have a neighbor named Cooter?
For REAL?
Now I see Miss Charlotte sitting on her front porch, snapping the ends off fresh green beans wearing a halter top and a pair of Daisy Duke shorts with 10 inch high stiletto's....
Duddahs gets scared of the scary picture and goes and hides his head under a pillow where the lady can't see him....
Duddahs feels a draft!

Yep... my first thought too when I heard what they called this guy. Dukes of Hazard. I used to live in Georgia back when it originally aired. And I remember there being a few cars exactly like the General Lee driving around certain cities in that state. I can't recall but they might have shot that series somewhere down there. ooops.... Karate class to go to. Camo belt graduation in 15 minutes.

I watched this movie the other day. It had vines that grabbed people and held them down. They said to quit moving or they will keep getting tighter. I immediately thought of Devil's Snare. LOL>

I have made a new friend named Kim. She had on a jacket that has a picture that I recognized but could not place. It was Poe. She loves to read. Funny too, that this was the case. I had seen over the past couple of weeks tee shirts not so much with his image but one of his works on it.... The Headless Horseman. OH I LOVE that story... creeps me out and makes me look twice when I'm out in the dark. Anyway... I wonder if JKR would have added HIM to the Headless hunt how that would do? The Hessian soldier would steal all of their heads.... That meany.

I had a couple of DejaVu's to post. Right now, this is the only one I can remember.... A little while ago, a couple of streets away from where I live, I saw a dog that looks EXACTLY like Sirius Black in dog form from the films. No kidding. I pointed to him as he was walking through a car lot and told my daughter, "Look! There's Sirius Black." She laughed. I wonder what he's doing so far away from any homes? He was just walking down the buisness district.

Oh yeah... I remember another one...
I was out looking for a large area rug to put down on the bare floor. I had in mind a sort of white or off white colored shag. The person I was shopping with said they know exactly where to look. So we went to this shop in North Little Rock. It was so unique with huge rugs hanging from the ceiling... It reminded me so much of what you would see if there were a Magical carpet shop located at Diagon Alley. They had every kind you could imagine... Then I giggled thinking this would be fun if some of these could actually fly. Oh and I was so surprised to find the one I was looking for... perfect.. well better than perfect. The prices was good and it ended up larger than what I thought I'd be able to find.
It was a happy day.

A little while ago I was sitting in my car listening to the radio. There was a guest who was plugging for a local event. He said that there will be a chili cook off event located in his establishment. He said people would set up booths and decorate them as they sit their chili out for people to come by and try it out to see who would win the chili contest. See, they are raising money for the food bank for our state. People would purchase a testing kit that would allow them to try out at least 30 different tries tasting the chili. You can if you want try out the same ones as much as you like.. but up to only 30 tries per kit. One of the entries bought up two booths right next to each other. They are calling theirs 'Chili Potter and the Deathly Hallows."I just had to come in and post this before running off for a while.
