I love Heidi but don't get to watch it very often-this summer there was a Shirley Temple marathon and I finally got to see it again. Duddahs, I always think of you now when I watch this movie because I remember you liked it.

OK, Duddahs and Miss Jenn have already watched their annual viewing of the original Heidi with Shirley Temple.. It is a time honored tradition in Duddahs family. Now, on to Polar Express... Monday will be the Charlie Brown Christmas... OH I"m hoping that I will get to watch Charlie Brown Christmas. I"m a huge fan of Snoopy since forever. He's so cool. Love Woodstock as well. Back when it was Halloween I barely got to see the ending of the Great Pumpkin. It's been years since I've seen it.
When my daughter was little she had a whole collection of Shirley Temple films and Heidi was one.
Glad to see you about and feeling up to it Duddahs.

Duddahs had not even realized it was a special anniversary year for Charlie Brown's Christmas.
This ole bird picked the party scene music for two of his students to perform their holiday show program to. They are skating it together and since Duddahs was a Pair Skater way back in the stone age, he can always whip up a super cool pair program for his kids..
The taller of the two girls is wearing black and white and has a Red Baron scarf, while the little one is all in yellow.. Bet you can guess what I was going for; right? The smaller one is my Miss Emily, she is the one who survived the Sandy Hook School shooting a few years back. This is always a little sketchy time of the year for her and her sister as they were both right in the middle of the whole thing. Little Miss Em, that is what I call her, was one of the few to survive in her class room, while her teacher, Victoria Soto kept them locked in a tiny bathroom the size of a small cloths closet. Vickie unfortunately did not survive and her parents live at the end of Duddahs street. A few years ago, when Duddahs was still the Park Commissioner at the park his nest is on, was able to get one of the memorial childrens playgrounds put into our park. It is the Victoria Soto park and is decorated with Flamingo's, her favorite creatures. Duddahs can see it from his front door ever day and thinks of her and the children as well as their families daily. How it has touched all of us here.
Duddahs heart goes out to those in Paris, Colorado and now California. This really does have to stop. I say someone needs to get hold of Harry Potter and see if he can round up enough aurors to wipe this scourge from our lives. As Mrs. Weasley once said; 'FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!' screamed Mrs Weasley. 'THERE WAS NO NEED – I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS – JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE ALLOWED TO USE MAGIC NOW, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WHIP YOUR WAND OUR FOR EVERY TINY LITTLE THING!'

I'll bet the program was beautiful. I'm with you Duddahs, my heart goes out to all involved in the tragedies, I hope there will be a way found to stop this soon. I remember watching the Charlie Brown special when it first came out, also Rudolph-I think that one was my favorite as a kid.

It's A Wonderful Life is on right now-it's been ages since I've watched the whole thing. I realized this movie has five Oscar winners-James Stewart, Donna Reed, Gloria Grahame, Thomas Mitchell and Lionel Barrymore. Not many movies can say that I'll bet.

Lionel Barrymore? I know that's Drew's grandfather. I just never realized I'd seen a movie with him in it. Do you know what part he played? I mean, I most likely will recognize the character first. LOL.
Oh and since you mentioned that film..... Did you know that Sesame Street's Ernie and Bert were inspired from the two guys in this movie... Ernie and Bert?
Great film. It's a Wonderful Life and White Christmas are my two favorites this time of year.

Lionel Barrymore plays old Mr Potter-the bad guy. That's really cool about Bert and Ernie-I always noticed those names but thought it was just a coincidence. Neat to find out something new about one of my favorite Christmas movies. And I've been singing the song Sisters from White Christmas all day today. I tried to persuade fangsfanssis to sing it with my for our little Christmas Eve party but no luck with that yet.

Poor, poor Duddahs Mom and Dad; they wanted to watch a little T.V. a few weekends ago and not much was on.
So they clicked through the channel listing on Cable-vision and found "Little Woman" was on.
Duddahs was in the kitchen cleaning up the dinner dishes but could still see the T.V. over the fireplace in the adjacent family room (they added it to the back of their house several years ago when they had major additions put on the house. The kitchen was once on the back wall of the house but when the addition was put in, a large pass through was put in place to be able to see into the new family room).
OK, back on subject (sorry for that little tangent), Dad turns on the channel, expecting to see the classic movie "Little Woman" with one of his favorite actress, June Allison, only to start staying; "What the heck is this? Who are these weirdo's?"
As it turned out, the show was "Little Woman of Las Vegas," some trashy show about dwarf woman with low morals.
My mother simply sat quietly in her chair, her hand over her mouth, eyes gaping wide with the most frightened expression possible.
My dad got up, shut off the T.V. put on a Sinatra CD and never once said another word about the show he had just witnessed. Still fuming though when I left to go home. I sent my sisters a text when Duddahs finally arrived at his own nest.
The next weekend to add fuel to the fire, Duddahs sister had the nerve to bring a copy of the real "Little Woman" with her during her weekend visit at Duddahs parents nest.
Dad was not pleased but Mom loved the movie none the less.

Erin, Duddahs believes you had the very same reaction that he had while texting his sisters about the incident. Here you go Loungers, just in case you were wondering; "Little Woman of Las Vegas" Lifetime network reality T.V. (this is reality?)VS. "Little Woman" movie 1949

Flipping back and forth between The Godfather and The Wizard of Oz on tv. I was thinking how DVD players and Netflix are wonderful, you can see any movie whenever you want. But in a way, I miss the old days when the Wizard of Oz came on tv just once a year. We would get so excited and get together as a family and watch it, my Aunt Madelyn would have refreshments, it was almost like a holiday. I always thought for years that they were singing Lullaby Lee not Lullaby League \ And another funny thing-as a kid I was scared of the witch, the lion when he first came out and the tree that threw apples. I never thought to be scared of the winged monkeys at all!

Oh the winged monkey is the scariest of all the Oz characters.

I've been watching all kinds of movies this week on my little DVD player while I do my cookie baking. I watched Elf, Cold Comfort Farm, Miracle on 34th Street, Going My Way, Love Actually, Narnia, and Harry Potter one and two. Also found out earlier this month that you can watch Shirley Temple's Heidi and A Little Princess on Youtube for free!

I love your list too Duddahs. It's so cool that you mentioned The Homecoming-I watched that when it first aired and every year after that my Mom and I would watch it together at Christmas as I had taped it (VCR). The Waltons was such a popular show back then, sort of like This Is Us is now. I love the Bing Crosby ones too. My parents had the sound track of Holiday Inn. It came in a kind of box and each song had it's own record-they were like the vinyl record albums would be now but only one song to a whole big record! I remember I loved ":You're Easy to Dance With"and played it over and over. Last I know those old records still worked.

My b/f had some DVDs that he no longer wanted. 2 of them are older: Some Like it Hot w/ Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. It was very good and funny! Another is Monty Python's Meaning Of Life, another great and funny movie! (The others are newer, so no mention of them here.)

The drive in in Portland, Me is showing Christmas movies the next several Saturdays-tonight was the Polar Express. We thought it might be too cold but on the way home from doing some shopping, my sister and I saw a long line of cars going in. Another movie that reminds me of Duddahs, and nice to see families doing things together with all that's going on in the world.
