Yeah It's me again.
This one is for talking about or listing old movies you have seen.. If you liked it or just what you thought about it.
I guess... we can see who has seen any old black andwhite movies... which ones they liked... OR just movies that were made in the past.
I know talking on a thread on one of these Harry Potter threads, I found out that I was missing out on a movie I had only heard of but not seen.. To Kill a Mockingbird.

Oh I love old movies. To Kill a Mockingbird is wonderful, one of thoses movies that never gets old. I mentioned on another thread I mentioned The Lady Eve with Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwick-this is a black and white comedy that I love. I had to laugh because Henry Fonda is one of the least Voldemort-like characters there could be in this movie. But he has a quote that would be great for LV-"Snakes are my life."

Me too on To Kill A Mockingbird, another movie (and book) that never gets old. For the old black and white comedians I also love the Marx Brothers and WC Fields. I remember watching the Stooges some when I was a kid. Today they were actually on tv with a ghost flying around, even they are into the Halloween spirt.

Wow I forgot all about the Marx Brothers. They are so fun to watch.
WHen I was a kid, my little brother and I used to watch the Three Stooges and the Little Rascals every morning before school while we ate our cereal. It just does not feel the same anymore not having them a part of my kids life at that time of day... every day.
Someone mentioned ghosts... I love watching the Abbot and Costello movie where they go after a ghost... I can't remember the particular one since they did make so many with other popular monsters of the time... But the one I'm talking about has a candle that slides back and forth upon the desk. I can't help it... I find that team adorable as well as funny. ;D
Then you mention Charlie Chaplin. Yeah.. he's funny too. The other day when my daughter had in Iron Man, I told her that hes my age. Her eyes bugged out. LOL! Then I told her that every time I see him I always think of when he played Chaplin. That is a movie I'd love to buy. I've always been a Robert Downey Ju. fan... well of his films.

I have that movie Chaplin with Downey JR, I thought he did an excellent job. TCM is playing all the old scary movies, I think today and tomorrow all day. When I left they had The Walking Dead with Boris Karloff. I love him, I wish he had been given more parts where he was the good guy instead of always the villain. A really good actor.

I've been having it on quite a lot lately. I guess for me Ocotober has the best programing. I find that is when I often tune in on the television and it feels weird to not be at the computer that particular month. Today I had watched a bit of two movies on there. I want so much to watch the one that is on right now.. Huchback I just don't have the time. Today I did watch a movie with this guy who dug up his dads' grave to get a lottery ticket out then got cursed for doing so.. To me he looked like the face of fright.. was more like the one Jack Nicholson wore when he played as the Joker for batman. Well... this look got stuck on this guys face. I dozed off so I didn't see how it ended.. Then this evening while eating dinner I watched another... This one had Joan Crawford as a lady who returned to her daughter after missing for 20 years... turned out she was an ax murderer. All I kept thinking of was the movie ABOUT Joan Crawford Mommie Dearest.

Here's some oldies that are good to watch at Christmas time. Meet Me In St Louis with Judy Garland. Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood. Little Women-many versions! A Tree Grows in Brooklyn-be warned though, a real tearjerker in parts. Heidi with Shirley Temple.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn-be warned though, a real tearjerker in parts. Heidi with Shirley Temple. Fangsfan1, you have hit upon several of my all time favorite Christmas Movies! Heidi and Miracle on 34th Street (as you say the original) are among my tops. Also are White Christmas with Bing Crosby Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwick Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer (Animated Burl Ives) The Little Drummer Boy (Animated stop motion) Holiday Inn (again, Bing Crosby) Peanuts Christmas (love the end with Linus he reminds me of J.J. when he was little) These truly are the list that I watch every year on DVD or when on TV.. Watched Rudolf last night while I taped the Tree Lighting to watch later last night.

Oh I love all on your list Duddahs. Rudolph is probably my all time favorite of the kids shows-always watched every year growing up and still try to. And I've always loved that Drummer Boy too, you don't hear that one mentioned as much. And my Mom was always a huge Bing Crosby fan so I grew up watching and loving White Christmas and Holiday Inn.

We had bought a package deal of those old fashioned animated Christmas specials that we used to look forward to seeing every year. We bought it for when my daughter was little. Back then she was into Christmas movies all year long... no kidding. She wore those dvd's out... The little Drummer boy... Frostie the Snowman... Rudolph... the whole lot. She even added to that list the then Christmas movies... the Santa Clause movie set as each came out. Now they too are getting to be old.
But my all time favorite is White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye.
I watched Miracle on 34th Street the other day on TV.. the one with Natalie Wood. I have a version of Little Women with Wynona Ryder and many other stars. I didn't think of it before as a christmas film but I guess it is. We have several of the Shirly Temple movies too... but they are on Video (VHS) SWhat's the name of that one where she... Duh.. A Little Princess... I think that is what it is called. I had not thought about these in years.
One I miss watching has Danny Kaye in it... Hans Christian Anderson. I have not seen that since I was a kid.YOu can't help but love his films.

I popped in Polar Express last night while I had dinner.
Sure seems like this one is destined to become a Christmas Classic in its own right in the next 10 to 20 years.
Still love it.

I have only seen Polar Express once and I liked it too-maybe I'll get to see it again this year. I know what you mean about Little Women Miss C-it isn't really all about Christmas but has some Christmas scenes in it-somehow I always enjoy watching it at the holidays. I've seen at least three versions and for me I have to say the Winona Ryder version is just as good as any of the older ones. I loved the Grinch cartoon too. When I was little it always, always came on the night of our Sunday School Christmas pageant-so I never got to see the whole thing until I was grown up! I remember when VCR's were just out and I got my first one-I taped Rudolph while I was at work. I got home, put it on and somehow I had only taped the first 15 minutes. Well I'm sorry to say I got mad and yelled and cussed! My big dog Arthur, I have mentioned him in other threads, came up to me and kissed and kissed me-then I felt better! I do now have Rudolph on tape-the whole thing-so I can watch it every year.

Oh I love the Grinch. I used to read it to my daughter all of the time when she was little. She loved both versions of the films but after a while she became a but grumpy about them. See every time someone asked her her name back then... (We call her Cyndi.) they always want to be on an upbeat note I guess and want to add on the "Lou-who" that used to make her mad. Every time I'd have to tell her they are only trying to be friendly to her and mean nothing by it. She'd squint her eyes every time. ;D At least hugs from mom helped. ON another note... I love working in a store this time of year. You never know what you will end up doing from one night to the next. at the end of today... or this morning I was straightening out a display of Grinch socks... all while I was laughing. I thought of you Fangsfan knowing I want a couple of pairs of these then I know you too like the festive socks just as much as I do. Then... there it was.. a green tee shirt with the Grinch's eyes, nose and mouth on the front. I want to buy two.. a matching set. One for my son and the other for his dad. I think they'd get a kick outta them. ;D
