Lots of good oldies on lately. I am watching Life WIth Father right now after a day of baking and wrapping. And today I watched my DVD of Going My Way. And later tonight, the original Miracle On 34th Street is On. Still hoping for Heidi with Shirley Temple to come on sometime too.

I saw White Christmas last week. I missed the original Rudolph which was my favorite growing up but I have it on tape somewhere-will have to try and find it. I also saw most of Christmas in Connecticut-hadn't seen that one in a while.

We also bought the DVD set when my daughter was very young. For her, back in those days, Christmas was all year long. She'd watch them all so many times.

I've seen all the christmas movies mentioned here. Christmas in connecticut is a great one, mainly cos of barbara stanwyck, but I missed it this year!! booo hoo.
Up to date-- Has anyone ever seen FOXFIRE? it was done in 1987, i think, and John Denver starred in it, with Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn? (sp) I was flipping channels last month, and there it was, on Hallmark channel. Nobody seems to have it on dvd either.

I love Barbara Stanwyck too MK.I used to watch her on tv show Big Valley before I knew her in the movies-especially love The Lady Eve with Henry Fonda. I saw Christmas in Connecticut this year-I always get a kick out of it when she is pretending she has a baby-the baby in that movie is huge! Foxfire-the name sounds familiar bu don't think I've seen it? I do like the watch the movies on Hallmark though, they have some good ones.

Oh yes fanfgsfan-- that was so funny with the baby in that movie.
foxfire was done in 1987--Did you know--it was based on a broadway play of the same name.
Was watching THE KING AND I with yul bryner and deborah Kerr this weekend. . It was made in 1956..and today , it has stood the test of time, and it's still a classic and beautiful movie. I also have the B & W movie with rex harrison and Irenne Dunne. I've got to find that. I have the book that started all this too, by margaret Landon. I'll note that in the book thread.

Oh I love The King and I, haven't seen that one in ages. And I've never seen the Rex Harrison one , I'l bet it's good. I enjoy all the old musicals, Oklahoma and The Music Man are my all time favorites but there's lots of other good ones too.

Fangsfan1, the movie with Irene Dunne and Rex Harrison is actually called Anna & King of Siam. This is adaptation of the book by the same name written by Margaret Landon and is not a musical.
It was a very good movie but very different than the Yul Brynner, Deborah Kerr which was actually adapted from the Broadway Musical Show written by Rogers and Hammerstein II.
As MK points out, they are both excellent movies and the book was even better in fact than both.

But as I watched it, I did notice that some of the dialogue in both movies was very similar. But the B&W movie had some elements in it that the colored musical did not, and vice versa. Ohhhhh...such a beautiful movie. Welll...I just found out that Netflix has this movie....in color. sigh. mine is in B&W. Is there a thread on here where we can talk about plays that we've all seen? I have seen a few.

On A MUGGLES HOLIDAY we have movies, television, and game threads. where could i put a thread called "LIVE ACTION THEATER--BROADWAY/OFF BROADWAY"? I don't know which section this thread would fit into. or a similar title. I would love to make this thread.

oops I meant to say I've just enjoyed an old Danny Kay movie called THE COURT JESTER. It's a slap dab comedic movie and has some very witty songs, and some were written by Slyvia Fine, who was Danny's wife at the time. Life could not possibly better be!!

I've been watching some old movies while multitasking. I got caught up watching The Birds the other day... Still, chilling. As you all might have guessed Alfred Hitchock is a favorite. Marnie was also on, but I missed watching most of it. Then another day, I found myself watching No Time For Sargents. With Andy Griffith... and I did see Don Knots in there playing a small role. There was another film I watched but I can't remember what it was.

Checked the tv listing this AM and one of my favorite Christmas movies is on tonight. A Miracle on 34th Street with Maureen Ohara, Natalie Wood, and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Edmund Gwenn. That is definitely what I'll be watching tonight.

Duddahs watched Miracle on 34th Street last night after Survivor while untangling the Christmas Tree lights and ready them for this weekends Tree Trimming Party....
Tonight after some more preparations and evening work at the ice box will be Heidi and White Christmas... YEAH for the Classics!
Jenn loves them too and she is going to make us some home made Egg Nog with Southern Comfort as a bit of a taste treat.

I got to see Charlie Brown Christmas recently which I hadn't seen in years. I remember as a child when I watched it as a brand new show! Also one of my favorites, Meet Me in St Louis, was on recently too, so glad I got to see that again.
