Decided to watch a little of Ballet Shoes because I loved those books and because I saw Hermione was in it. And who is the first person I see? Uncle Vernon Dursley, big as life!!

YEAH! That was another one that I was trying to think of earlier today, when talking about movies the Trio had played in other than the potter films.
So far... since reading the first Harry Potter book, I've opened up a whole new world of stories to my self with out even knowing what I had missed until afterwards. I still have never heard of the story Ballet Shoes.... What first came to mind was one of the Hans Christian Anderson stories... It was sad. Was this the story they turned into a film with our Vernon and Hermione, or was it something else entirely?

No this is a series of books for kids, they were written a while ago by author Noel Streatfeild, Hope I'm spelling it right. There was ballet shoes, dancing shoes, skating shoes, circus shoes and more. They are great books for kids about English children, you daughter might enjoy them. Years ago they made another version of ballet shoes and I watched it and that's how I heard about these books. Wish you lived near me Miss Charlotte, I'd lend you some of mine! BTW I've gotten so I love Richard Griffiths, the actor who plays Vern. He was just perfect for that role and it was fun to see him play a kindly old man for a change.

YOu know I have seen him play in other things but off hand I can't think of what.. They were always small roles I guess. Now this is going to bug me until I either remember or cheat and go look up his filmology. LOL!
I too wish I lived closer... maybe I'll check things out at the library?

Oh I know a Halloween one he's in-actually you were the one who first told me about it! Those shoes books-they don't have many in my small town library-but in the big library in Portland Maine they had tons of them. So if you have a large library in your area I bet they'd have them.

If you watch Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow," can you find how many Harry Potter Actors are in there? A friend of mine from England just sent me a copy of "Love Actually" for Christmas, and I watched it for the first time. I really enjoyed the movie. Oh has anyone seen the movie "Stranger Than Fiction?" It stars Emma Thompson, (I almost wrote Watson. lol) and Will Ferrell. Ironically I think it is Emma who makes the movie funny and Will gives the move its heart.

If you watch Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow," can you find how many Harry Potter Actors are in there? I know... there are tons in there. I love that movie... it's so creepy. Hey... and there is our Scrimgeour in that one. I loved that guy in that film even though he was just awful. ;D I've heard of it but have not seen it. I will have to admit... Will Ferrell is another one of those raunchy guys I can't help but watch. He's just awful too. We rented a movie with him in it "The Other Guys" and it was odd watching him play the straight guy. Loved him in "Elf" and in "Land of the Lost"... OH now that I said that, how can I hold my head up? *cries* I finally chucked "Blades of Glory" out since daughter kept wanting to watch it. Still.... did Will do his usual type role in "Stranger Than Fiction?" It's just hard for me to think that Emma Thompson would play in a film with him.

I highly recommend watching Stranger Than Fiction, and in this role any comedy on part of Will Ferrell is in the part of a straight man. That is if I remember the movie correctly, but I think I do.

(Little Red Riding Hood) OH and it IS good. My daughter and I went to see it last night. I liked it much better than I thought I would... and you guys all know how much I love fairy tales. This was always one of my favorites. (I remmber back to when I was a kid... my little brother and I always wondered what the "goodies" were that Red Riding Hood took to her grandmother's house.. long conversations about this too. BOY was I surprised what this film had in the basket. Very imaginative too. ;D ) Then for the mystery... WHO actually was the wolf? It had me going for the longest. I had my first guess and was correct, but I had already changed my guess about four times until I gave up. Funny how my first choice turned out to be correct. ;D And OH I just LOVED this wolf too especially when Red met the wolf face to face... What a surprise too. As for Gary Oldman, it felt so good to actually watch him play a part like this... To me, it's more suiting to his abilities as an actor... He was superb! Then I always loved Amanda what's-her-name. I have yet to find something she has been in that I didn't like. OH and for Julie Christie... for the longest my daughter thought that SHE was the werewolf. I can't wait until this comes out on DVD.

Watching a great baseball movie (Bull Durham) on tv, with a great song (Centerfield by John Fogarty) on the soundtrack, and then commercials for the Die Hard movie with a young and gorgeous Professor Snape. Doesn't get much better!

I just loved The Kings Speech when I rented it so much that I had to purchase it. Helena Bohnam Carter did a superb job in her role as well. It was strange watching her play that part, but you just can't help but love her.

I'll admit an old obsession I had since I was a child.... The old super heroes we used to get up to watch on Saturday morning cartoon shows. Some were barely in my memory but were my favorites. I remember wishing some of the cartoon heroes were also made into television shows like Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman. But alas that never came to be. But now that I am grown I really can see the limitation to taking up too much airspace with the three television channels we had to choose from back then. Some shows might not transfer. I know the Flash didn't make it for long. I saw potential if they had better writers.
Well, this evening I went to see Thor. He was on my list of favorites I can hardly remember from back then. I loved his cartoon show. Oh and I loved this movie. I'm definitely going to take my daughter to see it. Like back in the old days there is a moral to the story and she needs to see this particular storyline. It hits home for her right now.
Still, why am I posting this here on the Harry Potter actor's in other films thread? Well, to my surprise, when the closing credits were beginning to show, there he was. Our very own Kenneth Braghnagh Lockhart directed this film.
Go Lockhart and his wavy locks! ;D

Yesterday, I watched the Kings Speech once again. I completely forgot to mention how surprised I was when Timothy Spall stepped out playing Churchill. He did a superb job. I looked at him thinking he looked familiar to me but could not place from where. I had to read the credits at the end of that film and knock myself in the head again. LOL!

Well, of course I did. How could I have missed our Dumbledore?
And on that note.... This afternoon I had my son here with me. I turned on the TCM channel where they play old movie classics. Then what do my wondering eyes appear, but another Dumbledore singing out loud for all to hear. The movie Camelot with Richard Harris. (I grew up knowing him play this role when it was a play on stage, not a film. Yet I realize the film came first.) Even my son recoginized his voice and grinned to let me know he knew the person he was listening to. (Now remember my son is handicapped so communication is something hard for him to do.. but this was loud and clear. )
I also would like to say that I went to see the recently released Pirates of the Carribean movie. I was shocked to see our very own Vernon Dursley dawn a white wig as he plays the King of England talking to Jack Sparrow. Cool!

I got to see a little of Camelot too. I don't know if I would recognize King Arthur as our Dumbledore. But your son is right, the voice sounds the same!
