Oh I LOVE Helen Mirren. She caught my eye and played my favorite character Morgana, King Arthur's sister in Excalibur. I'll have to check that movie out soon. Thanks.
PS... Jupiter Ascending... blah. I think I fell asleep during one of it's extremely long chase scenes, while we were in the movie theater. ugh.

I like Helen Mirren too, she always seems to do a good job in any role she plays. I remember a long time ago, seeing her win an award for tv. probably the Emmys or Golden Globes. She made her speech and said "I'm fair chuffed!" and explained it was a British expression meaning really excited. A short time later another English actor won an award and said "I'm fair chuffed too" I recognized him from the movie Sense and Sensibility-his name was Alan Rickman. Little did I know I would be watching him quite a lot in the future.

Duddahs has been a little under the weather recently, since he could not sleep well he watched a movie called Snowpiercer on pay per view.
What a thrilling and truly off center Sci Fi movie. Duddahs would suggest it to most everyone. A little language and some mild violent scenes but it is a pure fantasy thriller that should be seen if you like Sci Fi.

Duddahs just watched the new Superman; Man of Steel movie starring Henry Cavil. His most recent Netflix rental.
It is the BEST Superman movie in many, many years. Henry Cavil absolutely lives up to the legacy set by the late Christoper Reeves.
If you have not seen Superman; Man of Steel, get it, watch it, enjoy it.

I will have to check that one out. I have not seen the latest Superman movie. Growing up I had a huge crush on Christopher Reeves. It's good to hear someone's doing the character justice in that role.

Geesh! Duddahs has rented a whole bunch of movies at Red Box the past few nights while staying over at Shell Cottage. Just about every movie was worse than the next, or the one before, or the ones in between.
Duddahs could only get through half of the most recent Hobbit movies. What a disjointed mess. Then he watched a clunker called Parkland, then a clunker of clunkers called Gods and Kings, there was one that was a little interesting. It was a Specific movie about a space craft that comes to hover over Johannesburg South Africa for nearly 20 years and a million plus weird as all get out computer generated aliens nick named Prawns live in a sort of concentration camp. Trust me, it was weird and definitely not worth the time to watch it again.
Finally got another couple of movies today from Red Box, the first, I will say might be OK but I put it on hold and decided to watch a movie that won for Best Actor academy award this year, the same actor that plays Sherlock Holmes on PBS. That is a fantastic movie. Thank goodness for little favors and good acting.

OH I LOVED the Hobbit movies. I went to the premieres for each one.
Never heard of Parkland. Hmm? Gods and Kings? I'm not sure if I've seen that one or not. I'll have to go look that one up to remember what it's about. Oh and I've never heard of the one you described. LOL. Weird.
Sherlock from BBC is sooo much better than any I've ever seen. At one point, it was playing on PBS. I wonder if that was the same thing. It's a series though. I wonder the movie was that you were referring to? Benedict Cumberbatch is in quite a few good films. Some are just ok though. I loved him in Star Trek Into Darkness.
....
I know I"m a little late to jump onto the bandwagon, but I've experienced Netflix for the first time yesterday. Wow! We just signed up for Plus. I spent a little while looking up things to watch on my favorites list. WHOLE TV SERIES!!!! I'm excited to always have something good to watch when I want to.
(RIght now we have on HBO- A Tom Cruse film with Emily Blunt. It's called, Edge of Tomorrow. If you like scify, you'd like it.

Last nights Red Box rentals were both very good movies.
The first was a Sci fi movie Divergent and the second was called Still Alice.
Duddahs would suggest both movies if you have the free time.
So much fun up at Shell Cottage, finally get to watch movies that Duddahs would normally never have time to do.
Also Duddahs did all 4 of his required credit studies and test for his coaching via the Professional Skaters Association. Passed all with flying colors, passed the background check (not that Duddahs was worried about that) got all his association dues and teaching liability insurance purchased and paid for.
The bag of Galleons is now simply a few stray Sickles but soon enough it will be brimming over again, barely capable of closing it's drawstring.

I agree. I loved Divergent. I'm not planning on getting the books, but I really liked both films. Not sure if I"ve heard of Still Alice. What's it about? Wow congrats on your credit studies/tests etc. *Hmm? Imagines an owl walking around, jingling from bags stuffed with coins.*

Still Alice is about a brilliant professor of Linguistics who develops early onset Alzheimer's disease.
She rapidly looses her memory and her family members are so very much involved in her decline.
The movie stars Julianne Moore as Alice, Christin Stewart as one of her daughters and Alec Baldwin as Alice's Husband.
It is heart wrenching yet very insightful all the same.
I had seen that there is another movie called Insurgent; is this the second movie in the franchise?

I liked the divergent series. I read the books, and have seen the first movie. Matched the books pretty well. I have not read or seen "Still Alice" but am reading a book by the same author, given to me by the parent of one of my students. This one is called "Love Anthony", and I'm liking it so far.

I noticed how people really talked a lot about Gone Girl, so a few weeks back I rented it. I noticed it has good actors. After the whole movie was over, I was numb. It was that intense. If I remember correctly, it had you wondering back and forth what really was going on. Then at one point you know and are just watching the story unfold even more. Wow. I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone or not.
I went to a movie last night... Saw the new Terminator movie. Wow... It was good. I'll have to say my it's one of my top three favorite movies in theaters this year. Jurassic World I would say might be just above it. My opinion about remakes or sequals need to be strong and hold onto/capture the viewer's attention... That's it.. it must stand all alone as if there were no other's before or after. They also must not bring down the series (if you want to call it that) that it goes along with.

OH NO! Duddahs found out this morning from one of his little chickadee's that they are making another FROZEN movie, FROZEN 2!
Ole Duddahs has just recently gotten that song from the first Frozen out of his system. Seems nearly every little girl at nearly every competition was skating to that ditty for the past 2 years!
What's next? Duddahs does not have enough feathers to loose from plucking out so many of the with the last song.. It is almost as bad as that song Tomorrow from Annie. Nearly drove this ole bird to take a sledge hammer to the music box in the ice box!
