indeed, he was a CRAP star ;D i don't know what the obsession is with the entertainment industry moguls...making their charges dress half naked, it's stupid and doesn't impress me at all. sex sells, indeed...sad, really! i'm a musician, but i certainly don't see the need to flop about onstage in sleazy attire. i'm a MUSICIAN, not a prostitute ;D music comes first and that's what i want to present to my audience. Yeah... I know what you mean... If they truly have musical talent, then why do all of this other stuff have to do with it? It all goes back to the beginning of MTV. I know back in the day, I was there when it first aired. Still, at that time, I had no idea that this would mean many talented musicians would now be shut out because of appearance. Don't get me wrong.. I think many talented musicians can have a cool look about them... making them fun to watch as well as listen to.. but that does not mean it's the only thing about it.

I just got in from work a little while ago. Before I left I stopped at Redbox and rented the movie called "Knowing" that has Nicholas Cage in it. A friend of mine told me that it was... um.... well "interesting." I"m going to stick it in to watch it right before I go to sleep here in a few minutes. I'll let you guys know what I think of it later.

OK settle in this weekend and did not go out after all the celebrating over the past few weeks.
Went to Red Box and got a bunch of great movies on Blue Ray and two that I had just wanted to watch for a while.
First I have wanted for a long time to watch the Documentary GREY GARDENS... Well, I was stunned at how much it was not like a Documentary and how much it was like a good movie.... LOVED IT..
Then I watched the actual Hollywood Movie Grey Gardens. That was so close to the actual documentary and explained a number of things that were not said in the doc that I now want to re watch the documentary! They are that good! I strongly suggest viewing them but do watch the Documentary first and then the Movie.. it will be well worth your time.
I then watched this movie with Russel Crowe, Ben Affleck and Dame Helen Mirren called State of Play. It was a very suspenseful movie with twists and turns and suspense! Very good..

Jenn, C.J. and I just finished watching the movie No Country for Old Men... It won all sorts of awards including Academy Awards... I thought it sucked. Really. Now who is going to pay me back for those wasted 3 hours of my life? Right now Jenn is laughing at me for typing that.. She hated it too though. C.J.? He went on an eating binge.. I do not think that dog sat down more than 2 minutes the entire time it was on.. He ate every treat, every scrap of food I gave him and licked his bowl of Frozen Vanilla Yogurt clean! Had to fill his water dish twice and let him out 3 times to pee. Now he is perfectly sated and sleeping on the foot of my bed and he just farted... Well it had better have been him or Jenn is going to have to sleep outside in this below freezing weather!

It was that bad huh? ;D *turns a fan on you.* I think Jenn needs to whap you with a pillow for saying what you just did. ;D Really, I'll have to say there are many movies the critics, or whomever does the voting, give awards to that I would not think should even come close to the running. I too, thought that movie was just awful. I like the actress that played the young girl, but NOT in this film. I mean, what were these people thinking? Mulan Rouge was another one that swept the awards and I would not think it should have. And I love musicals. I could go on with a long list of films, if I could think of what they were off hand. Movies that are not worth it. I used to wait until I saw how the film's did at the awards just to see if it was worth renting... but I quit going that route years ago.

I thought Moulin Rouge and now the most recent take on Frederico Falini in the movie 9 were HORRIBLE! First off, I think Nicole Kidman is a lovely woman, do not get me wrong, probably one of the most clean cut beauties in the world but I have only seen one or two movies that I liked her in.. I will give her Stone Mountain but the bulk of her repertoire is lacking.. And what the heck is up with Sophia Lauren? Some one has finally perfected living mummification!

I'm catching up a bit on posts I missed from my earlier times here... I just noticed this one. OK settle in this weekend and did not go out after all the celebrating over the past few weeks. I strongly suggest viewing them but do watch the Documentary first and then the Movie.. it will be well worth your time. I've never heard of this film. So what's it about? Now I have heard the name of this film but never knew it had these actors in it. I often will watch a film just because someone I like is in it.... and you caught my attention with Helen Mirren. Now off to go look this one up to see what it's about.

On the old Alan Rickman fansite I used to hang around at... Just for meaness sake, I used this image of JI for one of my RP characters... short lived but loved it. Honestly, I just love JI best as a bad guy... he's so good at it. OH if you are a fan of his and want to watch something quite out of the ordinary that he's in... I loved this movie so bought it. Go watch "Sweet November." Really, I loved the story too. JI will crack you up, still you got to love him. Oh.. this is on my to get list. We rented it a few weeks ago and also loved it.

But over all for all of the "NEW" movies I had seen last year... My favorite by far happens to be "Letter's To Juliet." Now I've never been one of these people who likes Shakespere... I hated Romeo and Juliet when we were made to read it in school. I think I slept in class. Call me a cynic, I never thought there was a man out there worth ending my life over... ANYWAY... When I saw the advertisement I just had to rent this one. (and I'm not one who has to watch every chick flick out there either.) Well, with some well placed hints to my daughter.... I am not watching my very own copy which she bought me for Christmas. This movie will make you smile and laugh... maybe shed a single tear. It also has some spectacular visuals. (Makes me miss Europe.) Good actors... good writing. A little mystery that you are not sure will be obvious or not. Just a happy feel good movie that answers a question about TRUE love... can it really last forever?

I too love Dame Helen Mirren. She is right up there with Dame Maggie Smith for me..
I did watch another movie last night.. It stared Leonardo DiCaprio.. Called "Inception"
For the first 10-15 minutes, I had to convince myself to stick with the movie.. Boy and I glad I did.. It was FANTASTIC. Very suspenseful, extremely deep and very complex.. Makes one think and then think again about what they are thinking about.. Makes you use your brain and that is a good thing sometimes in the lazy society that we all seem to be living in.
A must see if you are into Intrigue and Suspense Movies
Also, there is a HUGE amount of information about the Documentary and the Movie "Grey Gardens" It would be far easier for you to do a quick search and see some of the images etc than for me to try to explain something as complex as the story behind this Mother/Daughter relationship.

Oh!!!! "Inception" That is one I never heard of... but I walk by it every night while at work. I've asked if it was any good and one of the support managers who was working in the toy department right next to my departments... well, he never says very much but he said he saw it and it was good. The cover looked like it would be, still, I had not yet picked it up to watch nor read the back cover. I'm glad to have someone else say it's one to see. Thanks.

Has anyone seen the French movie Amelie? It is subtitled "She'll change your heart," and it stars Audrey Tautou. The movie only comes in French and it is subtitled in English, but if that kind of stuff turns you off this movie will dispell that notion. This movie is racy in a tame way. When I say racy in a tame way I think there are two references to sex done in a clever way so you might not notice until after the scene was over, and there might be one scene where a little more skin might be shown than would make you comfortable. I am going from memory here, so I might be a little mistaken, but I remember the movie was very clever.

Subtitles are a thing I normally have up... well, I'll turn them off if I have company, because I know many people do start to grumble that they want the words to be gone... But funny thing happened to me a few nights ago... I"m so accustomed to reading the subtitles with the volume turned somewhat low... The other night I woke up about 3AM with the tv on. It was about 20 minutes later when I realized they were not speaking english, even though I was reading it in english. No I have not watched that movie you mentioned... BUT still, what is it about? Is it a historical film?

I've heard of Amelie and that it was wonderful but never saw it.. Also Inception-I've read about it and that it had lots of plot twists. I thought it would be one I'd like-I really like movies with suprises like that.

Yes that was a huge turn off for me from the get go. Now I love to read or watch period films where they speak in the old style of english but this is a bit too much to keep up with. Wait...... Yov've never SEEN him in Sweet November? ;D Please... NO ONE ruin it for her.. And PLEASE JB... please come back and tell us what you think after you've seen it. I say he makes the movie... Well, and I liked Charlize Theron's character as well. Have fun!

I watched "Knowing" the other night....and part way through, realized that I had already seen it! My husband was laughing because we saw it together...I just don't have a great memory for these things! It was a good movie, though.
I am looking forward to seeing Legend of the Guardians...I wonder if it's out ON DEMAND yet? I'll have to check!
