Been seeing the TV commercials about Fantastic Beasts on the telly these past few weeks and I'm getting really excited about it! That old HP-movie-release excitement is slowly coming back! It's a good feeling to have again!
Thinking about it now, this is really the first HP film that we don't really have an idea what the plot's going to be about or any details of it (at least I don't think). For the other films, we had the books that told us how things were going to play out. This is just adding to my excitement.
I think this is a really important film for the rest of the series though. Fans will probably have high expectations for it. I have no doubt that the film will not disappoint and it's probably going to reignite the HP craze again and maybe even attract new followers.

Just thinking...we may very well get to see the duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald in one of these movies...
They were born in 1881, and 1883, respectively (which means that Dumbledore was 100 when Harry was born!). The duel happened in 1945 (so they were in their 60s...for some reason I pictured them much younger when I first read that part). The 1st F.B. ( I have to put the periods in, or it changes it to FAcebook!) movie takes place in the mid 1920s....so it could very well happen! I do remember, in one of the trailers, Grindelwald was mentioned...as well as Dumbledore.... Anticipation!!!!
I'm so excited for this movie!!!!

Ooo rin68nyr ! What were the three posters of? nz101nz as for the storyline goes, we only have those sneek peeks that we've seen on tv or on the trailers. There's tons of info that JKR gave us in the Fantastic Beasts book she published years ago. The history of Newt and much about the Ministry of Magic determining law and what constitutes a beast from a beaing. Those Goblins were real trouble makers back in the day. LOL! Then she's released TONS more information that relates directly to this first film over at Pottermore. We've learned so much about the American wizards and I absolutely LOVED the rather lengthy story she gave us on how the American Wizarding school came about. Also, how that school relates to Hogwarts so on and so forth. I"ve got to finish backreading the stuff I have not had the time yet to read before I go see this movie. I want to make sure I understand things a lot better in case the movie barely touches on something I then I don't understand. I can't wait. rin68nyr That would be cool to see that fight between Dumbledore and Grindelwauld. I"m thinking from what I've seen in the trailers, that we will have..... wait. I was going to say something connected to Voldemort because he too was known world wide for wanting the wizarding world to stop hiding. In the US it's illegal for any witch/wizard to even be associated with any muggles at all. That's more than just hiding... But the time frame IS like you mentioned... Grindelwauld's time era. Riddle wasn't even born yet.. or was just a baby at this time. OH my..... thanks for posting. My mind is soaring with thoughts. I can't wait. SPOILER ALLERT!!! Edited to comment: Erin you have to be right. I just checked me emails. I get my twitter notifications there instead of through an app. I saw where one of the actors (the guy who also played with Emma Watson in Perks of Being a Wallflower,) said that we need to think of the time frame... he mentioned about Gellert Grindelwauld and the time this film is taking place. He said if we are fans as much as HE is, then we all should be freaking out as much as he is. ..... Now if that's not a huge spoiler than I don't know what is. If it's not for THIS first film, then I'll guess it's winding up for the next one. I can't wait.

So sorry I have been gone most of the week. I had one of my horrible migraines for several days to the point I just stuck my head under a pillow for most of that time. However, it did let up some Thursday night, thank goodness. A couple of weeks ago, i put in an order from Barnes and Noble, when I noticed over at Pottermore they said we could preorder the the screenplay for this film, written by JKR. It would not be delivered until after the movie was released. UPS delivered it very early Friday morning. We went to see the film just after lunch in Little Rock. I did read the first ten pages just wondering if it would be just like the movie.... Pretty much exact, word for word. I had planned on going Friday... I wanted to see it in IMAX 3D, but they were playing that much too late in the afternoon and night for me to be able to be home in time to tend to family. I had been saving up little bits here and there to be able to see it this way knowing it would cost for my family and I to all go. Hubby wasn't interested in seeing it at all. I talked him into it. Anyway, I was perfectly fine seeing it in 2D. We went Friday.... LOVED IT! Seeing all of those creatures and more with my eyes instead of just with my minds eye from reading the book that Newt wrote ages ago for comic relief. I"m NOT going to give any spoilers so no worries. I can't wait until all of you have seen it too. There's so much to talk about. All I can say.... without spoiling anything are TWO things right now.... There's one major movie star that totally blew our minds popping up there at the end of the movie. I said, "Whoa!" Daughter said, "That's ......?" I said, "Yep, it sure is." Hubby said, "Wait, isn't that....." Again, I said, "Yep." All of our jaws were dropped. I will tell you now, I see it might be controversal to see this person cast in a Harry Potter film. I'm perfectly fine with this person being a part of this universe. Other's might say, Good grief. (so if you know who it is, please let's wait until others get to see the movie first. LOL.) Ain't I a stinker. The second thing.... You don't have to, but read the stuff that's been put up over at Pottermore to be up to speed on several things to note. One I know will be discussed here. But it's not necessary to read that stuff there to know/understand the movie. It stands on it's own. Oh and one great thing about this...... You can definately tell JKRowling wrote every bit of this herself. Such a great, creative mind she has. I'm just so glad she's decided to share it with us. ps... There's one note I'm dying to speak about. The one thing I was trying to figure out what it was every time we saw the previews. I was trying to identify one of the things I saw and was not really able to. Now that I know what it was... I can't wait for discussions to begin.

So psyched to be going tomorrow!
Miss C. I'm sorry about your migraine. I had one once, and it was truly horrible. I couldn't even have Paul in the room with me...such sensory overload!!! I do get occasional flashing auras that block my vision temporarily, but minus the headache...it's just a short nuisance, though. Glad yours is better, now!
I remember you questioning that creature in the preview s...can't wait to find out! Maybe I'll pull out my FBaWtFT book, and brush up on my creatures before tomorrow!
I saw a Facebook post about an actor who will play a major role in the next film...wonder if it's who you mentioned...
Right now, I'm getting some housework done, with the HP weekend playing on my iPad...so it can travel with me to do laundry, dishes, and general clean up!
Hi to everyone! Erin

Just saw it last night, will not be posting spoilers also.
Miss Charlotte is correct, the movie does stand on its own. I didn't get a chance to read the Pottermore content JKR released about elements of the film and I still understood it all very well.

Awesome! I really loved it! My boys and husband also had not read anything about magic in the US, and they were able to understand it.
Great story, fun, happy, and sad moments...and magic!!!
Miss C. - The actor was who I thought. I won't say any more at the moment, because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone else.

It's going pretty good even now, but that's life. No worries. Tramadol can be my friend too. LOL. Yeah, you remember. What a surprise it turned out to be in the end. For my thoughts on THIS particular thing, it makes me a bit ticked at Dumbledore. I mean, with all that his family's gone through with his sister Ariana, the attack by the muggle boys, and what became of both of Mom and Pop Dumbledore because of all of this. UGH! This movie puts new thoughts on more of that storyline. BUT Dumbledore set Harry up to live with the Dursley's? That's just unforgivable. Imagine what would have happened to Harry if he was not strong enough to be the person he is. Hey, and here's a spoiler that the movie makers seem to think they are keeping under wraps still. Because I actually read the beginning of the Fantastic Beasts book JKR released about a dozen years ago, I know who Newt marries. I guess they think it's a secret. LOL! Cool NZ. SO.... three Loungers have seen the movie so far. YOU GUYS LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE READY FOR DISCUSSIONS TO START. I'm so anxious. I'm thinking, after Thanksgiving weekend? I thought I read where another Lounger said they most likely will go next weekend.
I can add a new SPOILER plugin code to our site. I never really liked it because it blocks out ALL words that is set in the spoiler area. It might work better than simply putting up the Dark Mark. What do you guys think? ps. My daughter thinks both Newt and Eddie are adorable.

I don't mind waiting a bit longer to discuss the film. It gives me more time to think about things in a bit more detail and to gather my thoughts better.
However if the others would like to start discussing, I will join in of course

Hi there!
If you have a device that runs on iOS, you can download an app, Fantastic Beasts: Cases From The Wizarding World.
It's part hidden pictures (Miss C!), part casting spells, and part using clues you find to figure out what beast you need to find and take care of (usually releasing it back into the wild...in a safe place.
I refuse to pay for gems, which would allow you to play for a long time, and I find that generally I can play for 10-15 minutes before I run out...which suits me fine, as I don't want to spend too long on these things! Energy renews completely in about 3 1/2 hours, and every consecutive day you play adds more to your total. I've been doing it just fine, without paying for anything.
Let me know if you try it!
Erin
P.S. Oh...looks like it's available on Android devices as well!

Hi guys, I'm so sorry, I did not get to see the movie last weekend as I had hoped, due to unplanned family stuff(visitations, nothing bad). I'm not sure now when it will be, possibly next weekend but I can't be sure. Please, please start the discussions without me, I would feel terrible to hold everyone else up. I will chime in as soon as I can!

No worries Fangsfan. Not everyone here has seen it yet either. Since I bought the screenplay (my JKR) book for this movie, I want to see the movie for a second time after I'm finished reading it. With five movies total to look forward to in the Newt Scamander series, I think I better make room on my bookshelf for each release. Erin, that game sounds like fun. I think I might look it up (not really one who gets many apps for my devices, but just the ones that I think I'll spend time on.) This looks like one I'll be interested in for certain. I might have to come back in here to ask you more about this if I can't find it on my own.
(found it. )

Hey Erin, I'm thinking about purchasing the full version, but only if I can figure out how to turn off the hints. I never look for the items in order on the list, so when I'm looking for one thing, a whole different item begins to blink. ugh. Usually, it's a setting on the front page. Love these screencaps. Thanks for putting them here. Hey, have you purchased the whole version yet?
.....
Duddahs... I know how you feel. It really bugs me how some of my most beloved games won't work on upgraded computers. Hopefully, for you, it's just a setting issue too.
I have seen the new released versions of the Potter movies at the stores recently. I wondered if they were like the Freeform versions where all of the deleted scenes are added in their proper places?
