www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/7209Tip from NZ. Thanks for letting the Lounge members know. He posted this over at the Head Table. Please post comments... thoughts... theories... questions... ideas? Honestly, I'm so glad people are finally seeing the brilliance in this little book, and that she's expounding upon it in such a big way.. I just never expected it to really happen. There is so much potential. I have so much to post... but I'm holding back right now.

OK.... I'll post a few of my old ideas from the past...
dusting off cobwebs... I can't hold back.
I had the idea of him so like an adventurer... he had an office that he hardly used... sort of a messy desk. A large painting of a green dragon that liked to fly, or sometimes sleep, hanging behind his desk. He'd go out on adventures... sometimes calls when someone had some sort of creature they were not sure what it was or they knew and he would go out and study or help capture the creature. I see him all to help save but not kill. He wanted to learn.
He had a safari hat style. There was no way that he was like Turtle man. Oh goodness. He's a bit more sensible than that. Oh my.. I think I'd die if that is the way he turns out. LOL.

Yes, I was so glad to hear this, and it sounds like it will be a whole new storyline too. I read where it's supposed to take place 70 years before Harry Potter so who knows what kind of things will be happening in the wizarding world. Miss Charlotte I loved your ideas about Newt, I hadn't thought that much about him but that sounds like a perfect description, I hope it turns out to be true. I had also think I read that one of his sons married Luna? I'd forgotten all about that too. Anyway it sounds like it will be really good, great new for all of us Potter fans.

Yeah... his grandson Rolf married Luna. To me, as much as I love Neville, I think for Luna to marry a Scamander is a perfect pairing. I'm really surprised that no one over at the WB is theorizing about this. Do they see Newt to be like... Mr. Smee with a butterfly net from Peter Pan? Or more like Steve Erwin from down under? Or could he be more like I mentioned... like Indiana Jones but animal style instead of archaelogy? Or is he a new person all together? We DO know this guy will be in his early 20's. and they are placing this HERE in the USA! NEW YORK In fact! Go JKR! We do know he's a good friend of Albus Dumbledore's. There's a good character refrence for you.

I agree with you completely Miss Charlotte! I think he'd be a mix of a Steve Irwin and that old scientist guy from Jurassic Park. Old and wise, but young at heart and yearning for adventure and discovery.
Ooo, I didn't read the part about them placing it in the US. It should be very interesting to see the US from a magical-world point of view!
And I also hear that this film will be JKR's first screenwriting role too! Good on her!

I LOVE Steve Irwin! You can't help but get caught up with the excitement and energy of what he's carrying on about... even if it's a little creature like a slug. LOL. Funny. I was going through an old box of stuffed animals in my son's room and I've been searching all over for a couple of years for MY coral snake I allowed my son to borrow a couple of years ago. And there it be. Steve even made snakes seem so sweet. LOL. I found my snake yesterday and it made my day. LOL. Oh this is so wrong. I never thought about the Jurassic Park guy! He's so cool. Honestly, since the mods left from over at the WB. I know there is no way possible for anyone over there to put up, or have approved, any avatars for any new screen names. When I created my Newt Scamander sn over there I chose an image of Sean Connery when he played in the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I know it really was not what I had in my own mind even back then... but oh well. I wonder if they are going to have Porpintina (however it's spelled) be right along side of him on his adventures or if he will meet her on one of them? What sort of relationship will they have? Will she be quirky like Luna or insightful like Hermione? Or altogether a different person?

I'm interested to find out which creatures the movie will show. Some of the same ones shown in the movies already or some of the others? I have to get my book out and reread.

I bet Dragon's will be in the story for sure... They are integral to the Magical world.

What I'm really interested is what the plot will be about-has anything been said about that? Also, did I read where it takes place 70 years before the Harry Potter stories took place. Would that mean Dumbledore would be alive and I wonder if he'll make an appearance?

OH yes! I KNOW! I hope they really get someone cool to play the younger Dumbledore if they do do this.

I heard a few weeks ago that actor Eddie Redmayne (from the Theory of Everything) was rumored to be in talks to play the lead role in Fantastic Beasts. Nothing else besides that.

No problem, I heard another rumor before that one saying that Benedict Cumberbatch was also considered.
