It worked....she's back! She was gone for 7 hours, but must have found a warm place, because she wasn't cold. She just showed up, scratching at the door! Hooray!!!!!!!!

What a relief, I'm so glad! My little kitten, Cottonball that I mentioned before lived to be 18 years old. So glad your Dobby came back, that's a terrible feeling when they're missing like that, especially in bad weather.

So glad to hear Dobby came back and that he was not out there any longer than that. I'm so glad to hear that both of you and fangsfan were fortunate to have happy endings. We've had that same sort of situation but with triple degree heat. Things didn't end so well, so I know how your hearts felt for those missing hours. Erin, please scratch Dobby behind the ears from MissC. You know he's happy to be home.

Duddahs was worried sick until the good news of Dobby's return home. Monty watched out for him, just in case...

On my porch I have some shelves where I keep gardening things, decorations, etc. On the top I usually have water bottles and the my sister put a big table cloth over the whole thing so it doesn't look too messy with all the stuff on the shelves underneath. Well, I'm pretty sure we have some robins with a nest on one of the shelves! I keep seeing a robin flying in there with something in his mouth-at first I thought it was nesting my materials but now I think the mother robin might actually be in there and the father is bringing food to her. I caught my dog Andy sniffing around there several times today and had to call him away. Sending 2z53zhjs with hopes they and their babies will do well!

Duddahs has been struggling with his house wrens which have decided over the past few years to make his gutters their nesting spots.
Duddahs has allowed this messy but beloved behavior to go on for a while but feels it is time for the feathered friends to find more acceptable nesting spots.
It is with heavy heart that Duddahs will put an eviction sign upon their desired nesting spot by simply putting gutter guards on place so they can decide to find other places for their upcoming family members.
Still, it is saddening though much cleaner and hygiene inspired for Monty.

I can see what you mean Duddahs. My robins nest seems about done but don't know if they will use it-it is so close to my door and the robin freaks out and flies off every time I open it. My orioles are coming like crazy, so beautiful and don't seem to be as shy as usual-guess they are getting used to me. And today I had my first hummingbird siting.

Robin babies born a few days ago Now watching the mother fly back and forth with worms and can hear just a little chirping when she flies in the nest. My poor Duke(my tuxedo cat) loves going out on the porch but he's going to have to stay in for a little while longer.

Monty is literally in the dog house tonight! He snuck in the living room while Duddahs was busy cleaning tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers freshly picked fro the Pond House gardens. While Duddahs was occupied, Monty stole the remote control for the air conditioner and chewed it to bits.
After all he is now 14 months old and in canine years approaching the dreaded pre teens.
Let us see if a little more structured time in his crate might do the trick of breaking his recent rash of curiosity based destruction.

That reminds me of when my grandmother's little poodle chewed up her brand new hearing aid!

Monty was sitting just outside Duddahs back screen door today with a long vine and several mid size cucumbers attached to it. Monty loves to interject himself into the harvesting process. Sometimes if a grape tomato has a split in it but is still firm, Duddahs will toss it down for Monty to play with and ultimately eat. He has been attempting to rid the Gardens of vines and fruit, vegetables that grow outside the fence placed around the raised beds. Monty will play for hours outside by himself, finding all manners of flowers, herbs and veggies to drag up onto the deck and munch on.

Sounds like he's getting plenty of healthy food. My dog loves all kinds of raw vegetables. I had one dog, Arthur, who even used to love raw rhubarb, which is pretty sour tasting. And my first sheepdog Theo used to love raw potatoes. As a puppy I used to give him a big potato to chew on and it would keep him out of mischief for a while.

Monty is fed Fromms grain free Golden Harvest kibble. He has just moved up from puppy to adult versions. He has his Kong every night filled half with his kibble and the rest organic frozen peanut butter. His frozen desert treat consists of either frozen pumpkin or frozen sweet potato. His treats are freeze dried beef liver made in the US and once a week he gets a bully stick.
He gets no table food etc but he does get into Duddahs gardens and has taken a liking to ripping out the now dried corn stalks and sits for hours chewing them to pieces.

Duddahs has been in discussions of possibly bring Monty a real brother home as a lifetime playmate.
Duddahs is only holding back due to his health situation at the present and the needs of another very lively puppy.

It sounds wonderful for Monty as long as it wouldn't be too much work for you Duddahs. When I had my first sheepdog, Theo, I had another older dog first and the two just loved each other. Arthur, my older dog, took a lot of weight of me by giving Theo 5 playtimes a day. Good luck with whatever you decide.

We participated in a fundraiser, a couple of weekends ago, where we got to play and cuddle with kittens at the local shelter, to help socialize them. Those particular kittens weren't ready for adoption yet, but when we were finished, we visited the cats that WERE ready for adoption. I saw this 2 year old beauty named Remy. He had something wrong with his eyes, and I think he was blind/had very little sight. He hesitated when I first put my hand in, but then after he sniffed, and decided I was okay, he really loved the head scratches I gave him. If we didn't already have 2 cats (who hate every other cat they've every sensed), I might have braved my husband's initial anger and brought home Remy! LOL It's not a good time, for us, to bring a new pet into the mix. Our move is FINALLY coming soon...as soon as we find a house that we like!

Oh wow! So much backreading and wonderful stories to read on this thread. LOVED it! I know what you mean Erin. We have our three inside cats. We found a home a few years back for our beautiful sleek black cat Loki when we saved the last one kitten from the middle of the street when kitten was about 5 weeks old.... that's an old story you guys heard before. Anyway, if we had a larger home, I think Loki cat would have not been so stressed out feeling too crowded here while we were nursing the kitten back to health. Anyway, you guys all know about my squirrels and the squirrel birthing tree right outside my front living room window/front door. The newest baby squirrel came down not long ago. Just yesterday all of the uncle squirrels were shouting at the baby to get up the tree because danger was in sight. Turns out the cat lady down the street moved away (divorced). All of her cats were inside/outside cats. She had one she left. A beautiful longhaired orange and white cat was left behind. He came up for water from our bird bath. This time, he was not interested in our birds or squirrels at all. I did run out there immediately to shoo him away. The three or four uncle squirrels uncharacteristically stayed low on the tree trunk just above my head, chewing ME out for taking so long getting out there. They know me. I just shook my head and went back to my breakfast in the house. Good grief. The cat was across the road. He's beautiful and looks healthy. If we had room he'd make a great addition to our little family. She always took all of her cats to the vet even if she let them run wild through the neighborhood. I laughed because she kept several cat boxes along the side of her house for them to use so her yard would not be a mess. LOL! Weird lady, but smart. Duddahs, I know you mentioned getting a real brother for Monty, why not a much OLDER brother that you trust? We adopted Sunshine in her later years and she was the best dog in the world. Monty doesn't have to have a brother that old, but you could choose someone who's best. What are your thoughts?
