I've heard of Jean Plaidy and think I read some of hers years ago. The one about King Henry and wives sound great, I love historical fiction. Another one to put on my wish list. I read recently that Christopher Columbus who directed the early HP films is going to right a fantasy series. Or maybe has written them already. I think they said it would be a trilogy and YA fantasy. Really interested to see what those will be like!

He also wrote the movie Gremlins from back in the 80's. Back then I thought that film was so cool. Loved the mean little guy with the stripe. Loved their laugh.. I litterally do that laugh often when I have a mean streak comming out of me. No kidding! Still, if you find out what fantasy stories he is about to write or has already written... Please do update us to let us know.

Since I really have very little free time to do things that I truly love to do... it's been hard for me to reallly get to read. I'm nearly finished with the book I previously wrote that I was reading. Coast to Coast Ghosts. Love it. There are so many new ghost stories in it that I've never heard about before. Some really sound a bit far fetched, but some are really sad. Above all else, there was one I really can't stand to watch on tv when it's being spotlighted on... I guess it's the Travel channel which shows haunting tales every now and then. It's one about a guy named Robert and his doll. He lived in an old house down in Florida. This true story really gives me the creeps. It really makes Chucky seem like a fairy tale in comparison. I did yell NOOOOO... when I found that they were going to spotlight it in my book. Then once I got to reading it, they didn't even show the picture of it. Nor did they even come close to finish telling the whole story of this guy and his doll. I was witnessed yelling in frustration once I realized I now have this story to add to my collection for keeps... So I had to tell my daughter what's going on... she had not gotten to that story yet during her reading. So I filled her in on the rest of the background.. Then I got online and googled Robert the Doll and there he be.... sitting in his rocking chair. The images online do not give the story justice as the spotlight on that tv channel did. He's just creepy as all get out. So knowing that this story was lacking in complete coverage of the story, this makes me wonder just what other details were left out of the rest of the book's stories? Whether or not they are true is not an issue to me, I just love a good spine chilling story. shivers still, I'm nearly done with that book. Now... on to the next one on my list.

Today looks like I will have plenty of free time on my hands. My family has taken to sleeping all day and night when it's overcast. The weather called for snow.... which it's doing right now... so I most likely will have the rest of the week free. No school for my daughter, so she's sleeping once again. No outtings due to the forecast ice on the roads. I called in to work last night so I slep pretty good all day yesterday and most of the night last night.. I'm awake right now.. YAY.
...
OK... I wanted to tell you about the book I'm going to start here this morning. You all by now know about Dan's newest film... The Woman in Black. My daughter and I went to see it over the weekend. I had goosebumps a good bit of the time. I'll do a spot on the proper thread about this film later.
Still, after seeing the film I had to go buy the book. I have to see what it's like reading it. It's not a long book so fingers crossed I'll finish most of it today... if my house remains quiet.

I've been wondering if anyone from here would see the movie. I didn't even realize it was a book too, will be interested to hear how it is. I am trying to get ready for a vacation in March and haven't had much reading time but am currently reading Duncton Quest by William Horwood, a little over halfway through. And rereading the first Potter book too.

What I thought was going to be a quiet calm day ended up being busy... why is it always like that? I ended up going out in this bad weather, bones popping and creaking and all. Funny because I took the book with me to read on my journey and it starts off with bad weather going to worse... ;D So... I am missed my goal to actually start and finish a book all in one day... I never can do that with larger books. Well.... Hey... tell us about that book you mentioned. I've never heard of the book's name or author.

I never can do that with larger books. Well.... Hey... tell us about that book you mentioned. I've never heard of the book's name or author. Well, I have this book called Dunction Wood which is one of my all time favorites. It's an animal fantasy about moles-sort of like Watership Down (rabbits not moles) if you've ever read that. I only recently found out that 4 sequels have been written to this book and I look every time I go in any book store and was never been able to find them. My sister had the idea of going on Amazon.com and got me all 4 sequels for a surprise Christmas present. It was this big, very heavy box as some of them were hardcovers and they are long books. She said I would never guess what it was and I didn't, I was so surprised! So Im' reading the first sequel now. It's exciting because I have so many great books lined up to read this Spring and Summer. Once good weather hits, that's where you'll find me-sitting on the porch every chance I get reading, with my sheepdog by my side. I guess it's my favorite thing in the world to do.

Oh wow... For me, I normally read more during the cold winter months at the beginning of the year. I get to curl up with my fuzzy blanket near a window. OR with a light over my shoulder.
I once did read a book like you did. I read the Hobit to my son, on the front porch during the springtime.
I'll have to post more about the book I just finished, that I already mentioned earlier. It's been rainy and overcast. Perfect weather for me when I read.

JK Rowling is about to realease her new book! It is an adult book. As usual, they aren't saying any more. Don't know the release date, or the title, or what it's about...I wonder if she has anything about it on her website...or will she keep that to just HP things? Hmmm...I'll have to check it out...I'll let you know if there's anything on there about it.

Oh Fangsfan1,
I just read about this on the Leaky Cauldron too.
I am so excited but nervous at the very same time.
I guess that is the definition of "ANTICIPATION"?

How do you know? I thought she said that whenever she does release another book she will use a different name just to see if she can do well, without her name being the reason people buy it.

Right here Miss C. and if you go to her website now, it's on there as well. Funny, because it wasn't there when I first checked, but then that was announced, too! www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/5441Erin

She says it will be very different from the Harry Potter novels. I wonder what it will be about though.

I read about it on Entertainment Weekly website and got all excited about it. Re the children's book under a different name, I thought maybe she had done it and we didn't know? I was never sure if she was going to come out after the initial sales and admit she'd written that book, does anybody know? I read in my local paper that one of JKR's friends said he thinks she's working on a mystery-don't know if that's true but I think she'd be great at it. That part in the beginning of GOF where she talks about the Riddle murders always reminded me of an Agatha Christie book.

That is right... I thought she was going to write a book for much younger kids but have it put out under a different name. Who knows, maybe she did like you said, and we just never knew. Now it sounds like her adult book will be having her name put on it. WHy not, I say she's earned it. I mean, I watch many films just because of an actor or actress is in it, why not read a book just because of the author?

The joke is that it will be about a perfectly normal couple with a wonderful young son, who take in their good-for-nothing nephew. LOL
