We have been having beautiful weather for the past week and each night I can hear the soft hooting of several of our park owls. One who we know is nesting in the Cupola of Field House by the newly refurbished sports fields. Do you know what kind of Owls you have there? Last night, on the news, they were featuring our owls here. Appearantly, the story was about the rehabilitation of those hit by cars or orphaned baby owls being raised and placed back into our parks. They featured several. One was a barn owl and a horned owl. Then of course the not so little fuzzy ones were so cute. I can't recall what they were. Still. It was fun to see them. .... OK. As you all might have noticed, I've not been here much. Still, I keep the Lounge in my heart when I'm out. So... several times I've been going off to stores and such and of course I see the owl images on just about everything. So, while waiting for my family members to finish shopping I've been taking pictures with my cell phone's camera. I have a little disc (or thingy) that I can take a chip out of my phone so to put the pictures here online. So, just a warning, pretty soon I might do an owl for the day week or so from me. I do invite any of you to jump in if you wish and add in any owl pics you find where ever... even online. So cool. They do make me smile.

Yesterday we went to a home and flower show. There was one room full of crafts and this one booth had a whole wall filled with gray rocks of every size-they had all been carved with owl faces. And of course I thought of this thread the first thing.

I finally got all of those images off my phone yesteday. I had to take my phone apart to get a chip out. Hubby gave me an adapter that I put it in so to stick it into my laptop. SO... I'll post one at a time. Too many will bombard this thread.

I don't know if anyone hear gets Nature's Jewelry catalog. I just got a new one yesterday. They have these pendant necklaces and one has an owl on it and on the back it says "You are braver and stronger than you believe." Reminded of Errol, one of my favorites.

You know... I've always wondered how old Errol was or if he was always the way that he was?

I always pictured him as very old by the time the series started, that for one thing the Weasleys couldn't afford a new owl and for another he loved his family and didn't want to give up working for them even though he was past his prime.

I always thought he was old too. .... Last night I was given a funny surprise. See, yesterday, my hubby was just plain being mean to me. (which is not his normal.) Not in a fun playing around way either. It was to the point I decided to spend the day in my son's room, with our son, and just stay out of his way, since I got my head bit off just for breathing. I'm having a hard time throwing this head/chest cold all week, as it is and didn't feel like putting up with any of his attitude. So, I just curled up on the chase lounge in my son's room with the remote control and napped much of the day. Last night, when he finally got his head on straight, he came in there to tell me he was going to the store to get him some bottled water and asked me if I wanted anything. I told him yes. I'd love some chocolate. He asked what color. I said dark. Well, he came home with a huge heavy bag and handed it to me. It turned out to be a bag of dark chocolate Hershey's kisses and an OWL bank. He's seen me eyeballing those colourful ones at the store. I guess he thought he needed to apologize to me. *snickers* And funny too... I think my daughter started this whole thing. See, every time we go to the mall, she's noticed that I take pictures of owls with my phone so to put them up here when I get home. (she just showed me how to email pictures from my phone to myself so I can put them here yesterday... so watch out. LOL.) Well, for my birthday, she picked out an owl pillow from Kirklands. I LOVE it. and another silver owl pendant that I now have hanging from my rear view mirror in my car. I think her daddy must be following her example now that he's noticed how much I love owls. LOL.

Hello owl fans, I was in Christmas Tree Shop today. They had an owl hat that you wear for Halloween-it lights up too.

Hello owl fans, I was in Christmas Tree Shop today. They had an owl hat that you wear for Halloween-it lights up too. OH I would love to see that. I thought I'd post an image of one of the two owls I got for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. Both were bought from Kirklands. This one I snatched offline. Mine looks a bit more up right and narrow, where this one is more rounded. However, this is the same style. I have it standing right over my left shoulder on the back of the chair I normally sit in in the living room. It's from my daughter. I'm so ready for fall to get here... it's perfect.

Duddahs was outside last night shortly after twilight and spotted an OWL chasing a bat over the lake! Not sure if he got it...

I have not seen an owl here since we moved into town. Although, I will say that we have some pretty large hawks who like to sit on top of telephone poles overlooking a field looking for a mouse to eat. They are so large to the point we often mistake them for owls. We have to look hard to make sure what they really are.
...
I've been trying to find online an image of my newest wax warmer. This one is a plugin night light sort of thing. It's simply adorable. It is made to look like a tree stump, but it has small holes all around the sides with tiny little owls peering out of it. I think I might just have to break down and take a picture of it to post it.

We stuffed Halloween bags today. I had ordered some little cardboard owl finger puppets to put in. I thought they were mostly the same but when I opened them they had a lot of different styles. There was a Frankenstein owl, pirate owl, white ghost owl, Dracula owl, pumpkin owl, mummy owl. Really, really cute and I just had to come post on this thread.

Wait. can you imagine a green flat headed owl? Oh still I think he'd be cute.

I'm going to go read your story in a moment Erin. .... Just thought I'd put this here... first a little background. My son has need of a cup/bottle of water to be with him at all times. So, when he's in his bed I keep a mug of water on the table next to him. Over the past few years, I've been trying to find him ceramic hand painted mugs... one for each month. Something more to do with the major holiday for that month. It's very hard to find a turkey one for thanksgiving. For the past couple of years I use one that is a jackolantern one for Halloween, and just turn it around backwards so it looks like a pumpkin for November. Well, while out a couple of weeks ago, we found a cup with OWLS dressed up as a couple of pilgrims.... Hats and all. I thought it was cute and so it's sitting next to my son on his table. .... OH Erin... I just read it... That was so sweet.

Thursday's Portland Press Herald front page story was about a snowy owl who was found hiding out in a building-there was a picture of him peering out of a window. They said snowy owls are rare in Maine and they thought they sometimes come here when food is scarce in their native Canada. They did capture him and were going to release him into the wild. Yesterday they said he was doing well and almost able to be released.

On the 11 PM news they showed a video of the owl being released into the wild. Just beautiful and I hadn't realized how big they were.
