Duddahs Harry Potter thought for today; Just thought that since the success of Fred and George's Joke Shop and then becoming George and Ron's Joke Shop, did they put Zonko's out of business?

I could sort of see them buying Zonko's out. Hopefully not. I really think it's a good thing to have a competitor business. As business men, that would keep them on their toes to come up with things they would be afraid the competitors might think of, not to mention it causes them to challenge themselves to be better than last year. Then from the customer's perspective, it's good to have more than one store of a kind to go to. Variety is good.

I agree it would be good to have both options, Zonko's and Weasley's, but I always pictured the twins pushing Zonko's out, at least a very strong possibility.

My Harry Potter thought for the day...
I never thought about how much Hermione is a real hero. I was going to ask what people thought if Hermione was sorted into another house, how would that have changed the story. Then I thought why not just say she was a muggle and never received a letter to Hogwarts, how would the boys turn out? I've always known how she's essential to so much of the story's success, but my goodness. Would they ever have been able to defeat Voldemort or even come close? Eek! Go Mione!!!!

My Harry Potter thought for today;
What became of Pig and Crookshanks while Ron, Harry and Hermione were on the run and camping out in the Forest Dean? Do you believe they were reunited once the final battle was over?

Do you believe they were reunited once the final battle was over? Oh I'll bet it was a happy reunion. It seems to me like I heard they were staying at the Burrow while the trio were on the run, but I don't know for sure.

My thought for the day-thinking about the difference between Harry and Snape's sorting experience. Harry got sorted with his 2 best friends and Snape had his best friend (Lily) taken away from him. Thinking of what a difference it made in their lives, it just shows how important it is to have good friends around you.

Seeing both scenes for each of their first times in the books, made me question why they sorted. I mean, kids will devide themselves anyway, why do it for them? At least they would be able to choose their friends as they pleased.

I agree Miss Charlotte. I was glad when Luna came into it and showed how the different houses could be close friends with one another. It makes me think, I wonder if there were ever best friends who were a wizard and a squibb? I bet JKR could make a good story out of that.

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Do you believe that there are 11 year old who are accepted to Hogwarts, not be allowed to attend because their muggle parents forbid the attending?

I really could see that. I can't remember where I saw this... but someone wondered if Dudley were to be found with magical abilities, would Petunia or Vernon allow him to go? Would Dudley want to go knowing how he was raised?
Hmm? I would think deep down, Petunia would be happy to see Dudley with magic. That would mean she passed on the gene. Also, many parents love their kids and want the most for them.... even if it's more than what they themselves would have as a talent. However, I would think Vernon would freak out. Petunia would most definitely side with his choice. However, I would think Dudley's temperament might make any magical ability be so unpredictable that he could be dangerous unless he learn how to control it. Now THAT is something I've often wondered about when it comes to your question.... Those parents who deny their kids education in the arts, how would that turn out for those particular almost students?
Love your thought and how it brings more thinking.

Rereading SS for the first time in a while and thought of a few things. First of all I wonder whatever happened to the wonderful watch DD looked at in the first chapter-I don't recall it being mentioned again? Then I loved that the Hogwarts invitation is written in green, my favorite color. Nice to see that color used for good as well as evil for a change. Also, it looks as though Hagrid gave Dudley that tail with a nonverbal spell! He must have been a more talented wizard that I had previously thought.

I think it was mentioned again, I just can't remember when? I always loved that cool watch.
Ooo! Good catch. That was a nonverbal spell. I never thought about that before. Cool.

So...if Hermione, in POA went back in time...assuming for 1 hour for each class she went back to take...so about 3 hours a day (I'm estimating...I'd need to look at the book to see if I could get exact numbers)...and assuming that school is in session for 30-40 weeks per year...Hermione aged approximately 15 hours per week extra...Which means that by the end of that year, she was 20-25 days older than her birthday would show...

My Harry Potter thought for the day....
My daughter and I were talking about a set of twins that we know. She said how she tells the difference between the two boys, one has one cow lick and the other has two. LOL. Then she started talking about their height. That made me suddenly wonder.... when twins have growth spurts, do they have them at the same time or are they each on their own? Fred and George seemed to stay pretty much the same the whole time we watched them grow up.... or so it seemed from our camera angle.

OK, Duddahs Harry Potter thought for today;
Is Albus Severus the Cursed Child or is his brother or sister? Any thoughts?

OK, Duddahs Harry Potter thought for today; Is Albus Severus the Cursed Child or is his brother or sister? Any thoughts? Whoa! I HAVE to check out this book. You are making me want to even more. Phooey, I was near the bookstore just this afternoon, and didn't even go in. I could have bought it today.
Also, I'd really like to hear what anyone would say in response to your question too.

My Harry Potter thought for the day.....
I wonder... when the master is away and the house elf is doing their duties, do they ever sing, or hum, or whistle? It makes me wonder what sort of song a house elf would sing while doing the dusting or sweeping?

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Since the Flue Network could be hooked up to the home of Muggles upon the discretion of those in power at the Ministry of Magic, how was it that they were unable to use this way of entering the Dursley's home at Number 4 Privet Drive after the fall of the Ministry?
