To go along with Duddahs, Harry Potter thought for the day....
I'd love to hear JKR give her account of people like Mrs. Figg and Filch's backgrounds. You know, how many siblings, where they grew up, where they went to school, who were their parents? so on and so forth. Can you imagine and UNCLE FILCH?

I always thought maybe Mrs Figg had great parents who helped contribute to her handling being a Squibb so much better than Filch did. It would be a great book for JKR to write-a book about the childhoods of both, switching back from one to the other.

I was thinking about Harry's parents-James definitely did not like being told what to do and Lily knew how to stand up for herself. I wonder if Harry inherited some of this from both and this was one of the reasons he was so good at fighting off the Imperius curse? This is my Thought for the day.

So, watching DH today, I was wondering if the sword of Gryffindor, HAD it been locked up in the Lestrange vault, would it be able to leave to go to a worthy Gryffindor? Bellatrix obviously thought it could not (if she even knew of this power in the first place). and certain kinds of magic don't work in there (accio horcrux didn't). So, I wonder if the sword would have been able to leave the vault...

I get the feeling that the Slytherin's might not have known about that trait of the sword. It makes me wonder if Voldemort knew? For that matter, did the Goblins pass this info on through the ages to their own kind? From what I understand about Goblin's ideas of "ownership" going back to those who made the object, unlike humans would pass it on to the next person in the family. It might have been some magic bestowed upon it by Godric himself and not have the Goblins put it on the sword during the making.
Ooooo! Funny, I'm on a roll here. Why did Godric Gryffindor not pass this sword on to his own family member heir? Hmm? Unless it's for this very reason. It would show up back to the school for the worthy Gryffindor who needed it.
---
You know I always loved how Harry to me, never really seemed to be more like either parent over the other, despite the fact he was always told he was so like his father by so many people.

My Harry Potter thought for today;
Where do you think Hagrid stores all of his magical creatures introduced in his classes?

I wondered that once. Perhaps the forbidden forest? But the weird little barrels of stuff that was so harmless? I wonder too?
.....
My Harry Potter thought for the day....
I wonder what Dudley grew to do for a profession?

My thought for the day-did anyone besides me ever feel that Hermione and Lily had a lot in common? Both children of Muggles, both in Gryffindor, both brilliant students, both compassionate but able to stand up for themselves, both married wizards that they initially didn't get along with, both both had close friendships with a wizard they were not romantically involved with,

I wonder if this was intentional by JKR or not?

I wonder if Regulus Black ever revealed to his parents that he had turned against the Dark Lord?

My Harry Potter thought for the day...
I wonder if Harry ever bought a dog for his family... his kids? If so, was it like Sirius?

My Harry Potter thought for today; I wonder if Regulus Black ever revealed to his parents that he had turned against the Dark Lord? I wonder too as that would have made them very angry. It would have been nice if he had someone to tell who could have encouraged him, I wonder if that happened?

My Harry Potter thought for the day... I wonder if Harry ever bought a dog for his family... his kids? If so, was it like Sirius? A big black dog like Sirius would be wonderful, and also a snowy owl like Hedwig for everyone. This is the first time I've quoted since you tinkered Miss Charlotte-I like it so much better, so much easier to see with this color background.

My HP thought for the Day
I remember lots of threads about how the number seven was very significant throughout the series-very true. I wonder did anyone else ever notice the number three is quite significant too? The three friends, the three hallows, the three Peverell brothers, The Three Broomsticks, three headed dog, Third years get into Hogsmeade. I'll post more if I think of them.

(so glad you like the quote thingy, Fangsfan. )
This so funny... (My harry Potter thought for the day...)
Recently, I've been thinking about to the time where we were making LISTS of EVERYTHING. I miss those days. So funny because you are talking about the same days.
Really, I had once read an article where someone was talking about the MAGIC there was in particular numbers. I had done research (and I know when I saved the entire New Quibbler Magazine thread to some place else.) that is HAS to be in there somewhere.... Well, I had done a corresponding article for that thread having to do with numbers too. Seems like my research showed that there's something magical with pretty much all numbers. At least 1-13 more than the others. I wish I could find it (or at least the sites I used where I discovered my info about magical numbers.)
Still, like seven I would have to say three has to be pretty much equal in JKR's potter stories. She used those two numbers more often than the rest.

My thought for the day-what would have happened if the twins payed more attention to the map? If they had noticed Peter Pettigrew hanging around wherever Ron was and became curious about it and maybe reported it to someone?

My thought for the day-what would have happened if the twins payed more attention to the map? If they had noticed Peter Pettigrew hanging around wherever Ron was and became curious about it and maybe reported it to someone? Or even mentioned it to Ron?
I always wondered something similar to this. Why did it take so long for Harry to notice him? Or worse, what if he never did? How would the story have gone down? However, I never even thought about the twins and if they noticed? Cool. They missed an opportunity to mess with their little brother, like we know they would have. LOL.
I wonder, this is the first time that I ever thought about all of the "pets" being listed on the maps. Why wasn't Fluffy mentioned being..... wait, wrong book. He was no longer on the map by the time Harry was given it. Still, like you said, the twins would have surely looked. So, this makes me wonder if they learned their tricks... secret passageways where no one could see them being sneaky... to the point that they really might not have used it much. After all, they did give the map away to Harry after they only used it a couple of years. Still, I would have liked to see how JKR responds to your question. Cool

Duddahs thought for today; Simply wondering if there is a permanent sight where professional Quidditch matches are being held or are they simply "Pop Ups."

Good point Duddahs, maybe they have permanent ones that are concealed from Muggles?
My HP thought: Would a witch or wizard living in a Muggle area have to pay Muggle taxes, or their own Wizarding taxes (if there is such a thing)?

Ooo I never thought about wizard's taxes. But, since muggles don't know there next door wizard neighbors exist, they probably don't get taxed... in my thoughts though.
