Rereading OOP I was reminded of my first description of the thestrals and wondering what that was all about and how only Harry and Luna saw them at first. And of course on reread, you know what's going on.
Also remembering my first glimpse of Luan, I wasn't crazy about her at first but she ended up being one of my favorite characters.

Here's another great moment for me-in the first book, first hearing about Mrs Figg, who would turn out to be one of my favorites. She didn't seem too important at first but I liked the fact that she really seemed to care about Harry and didn't mind looking after him when the Dursleys were away. I have been blessed all my life with wonderful neighbors, some still alive today, who were always there for me and my family. I think Mrs F reminded me a little of them. And then to find out in book 5 that she had a secret life, I never suspected!!!

LOL Those are so fun.  I loved that moment, when Harry tried out the wand Ron had given him, on those cool little fires Hermione puts into those jars. I'll bet you they jumped so hard their arms and legs went numb. |

Can't remember if I already mentioned this but I loved the idea of Hogmeade the moment I first read about it. It sounds like so much fun and liked the idea you have to pass several years of Hogwarts before you can earn the right to go. And the mention of some the shops, the Owlery, Shrieking Shack, Mme Puddifoots, Honeydukes-so much fun to read about.

In the first book, we see the first instance (in the series) of a wizard, Harry, speaking to snakes. I kind of wish Harry hadn't lost that talent after the series, snakes are not all bad and it would have been cool if he could continue to talk to them
