Well, it's official. The one cat that I left with my daughter and her father ran off... Yes I know she was an inside cat, but I knew this would be coming somehow. At least I got to love on her real good the last time I saw her. SHe purred so loudly. Now their house is petless.
I knew from the time I moved out, that I could see them getting a dog. It just seems natural. Daughter has been wanting a german shepard. I think if they find the right one, it would be perfect for them... all I reminded them is that if the dog they choose is too noisy, it could cause problems with my son's health. I hope they find the right one... they all will do well.
Sometimes choosing a pet is not what one expects. I will admit I went to the animal shelter to get an older cat and ended up going home with a tiny baby Hermione. I really didn't choose her, SHE chose me. She didn't want anyone else to get near her, but when I walked into that room, she ran for my feet and would not leave from between my ankles. When I went to look at the adult cats in a different room, Hermione would not stop meowing as loud as she could.. I mean I heard her from the other room and could not believe how loud she was... Then a young couple went in there, she went to hide under a piece of furnature. She would not let them near her. Then I finally went back in there... I asked them where the little one went who was meowing like that... They pointed to the furnature... Once she saw I was back in there she was back at me again. I did this a couple of times... the big cats room then back again. When I had to leave to get the person who worked there... she started up again like every time before. Really, she's still like that even today. She's not a social cat like Mattie... and wants for everyone to leave her alone except me.
So... that was that... I have my Hermione cat.

She is a one woman cat! It sounds like it was meant to be that you got her. I got my cat Duke a beautiful bed for Christmas. Green with white lining, so soft and fluffy. A friend of ours sent gifts in a packing box and he has gone crazy over that box. Hasn't been in that bed once. Right now he's sleeping in his box with the empty bed right beside him. Just like a cat!

Awww...I'm sorry one of yours kitties went missing....I hope they find her!
I had a cat who was attached to me like that...though she did like other people just fine...but if I was gone overnight, and my husband was home, there was nothing he could do to console her...she just yowled and yowled. She got better as time went on, and she knew I would always return...but she was very much mine...and yes, she chose me, too.

OH this is so wrong! You'll never guess what happened today. I'm laughing so hard. See, this morning when I went to get my son. I had him all loaded up in the van.. See, I had some business I had to tend to in another town before I could go home... SO I went in the opposite direction when pulling out of his fathers driveway. I was not even at the end of the street before I saw a fluffy black cat. I stopped the van and got out calling Frostie's name. The cat not only looked just like her , (had the golden green eyes too) she meowed just like she did. Well, when I called her name she came right up to me and I snuggled her good. When I tried to take her to the van I told her she missed Christmas. Like usual she was very vocal. Turned out when I got her in the van safely, I went to turn around in the cove at that end of the street. I planned on taking her home before I went to tend to my business. I knew I was going to be gone for quite a while. Well, poor thing went wild and was so scared... Just like Frostie. Then I noticed something... this cat had front claws and Frostie was declawed about ten years ago. ;D Poetic justice I guess. About fifteen years ago, I went to pick up son from my mother in laws house, early one school morning. On the way home, I saw a gray cat. She had a smokey grey cat that looks just like a million other smokey grey cats. I called her on the phone and asked her where Smokey Jo was since I didn't see him when I was at her house just minutes earlier. She could not find him, nor could she remember letting him in after his usual night on the prowl. I turned around and got her. SHe brought along a box. See, I told her I saw a cat that looks just like him but dead on the main road at the end of their street. Sure enough, she took a look at him and said that was him alright. I still had to get my son to school, so I just dropped her back off with the box and the dead cat. About hour later she called me up. She said she had been sitting there at the kitchen table reading the newspaper when suddenly in the basket right next to her Smokey Jo began to stretch. He scared the living daylights outta her. Yep, she buried some stray cat that she never knew. I guess it was my turn to not recognize my own cat. Thank goodness Hermione and Mattie are both calico and very unique in coloring.

Hey I cracked up laughing and rolled the window down before I left. I told my daughter about it. She even knew what cat I was talking about. It was one that often hung out around her old bus stop.

news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110103/ts_yblog_thelookout/massive-bird-fish-kills-in-arkansas-leave-many-scratching-headsOh man... You guys would not believe this. I heard about this this morning. Turns out my kids Memaw called their daddy and told him that one of those dead birds are in her yard as well. (now for a little background, she freaks out every year when there are birds in her yard. She thinks they will carry a disease and that will kill her dogs and poison her yard. No kidding so when she found this... she freaked out more over ONE bird.) I could not figure out what they were talking about.... Dead birds? He told me that there were thousands of blackbirds just all of the sudden fell out of the sky all at one time... dead. They were not poisoned or shot... No one knows what to make of this... Now this is the town right next to mine... I go there to do some business from time to time. So... just to view this link... know it's real. Oh and I had mentioned to someone a while back that we are located upon a bird and butterfly migration flightplan... so to speak. The blackbirds, crows, ducks, canadian geese and so much more will line the horizon by the millions from one side of the sky to the other. These flocks fly nonstop for days at a time... well, weeks. So I still wonder what happened here... It almost sounds like some sort of curse. (yep... I had to add some sort of HP connection even though this is a serious subject.)

Yeah... what's more bizarre? only ONE species of fish also dies about this same time but in a totally different place of Arkansas... These fish all died at the same time at the same bend in the river. Still, none of the other fish were affected. This is creepy. We were talking about it at work last night and some people were joking about saying maybe Aliens shot a rayo out of their space ship and killed the ones that they wanted dead. I'm telling you, this makes absolutely no sense.

I have two female labs who sleep in my bed with me. You must have a huge bed rallem. I have a California King and when Jenn and C.J. the Shi Tzu are in it with me, I am the one pushed to the very edge and have actually found myself going to my son's room (he is in Med School at the time) and sleeping in his bed just to keep from being pushed to the floor! Don't know how you do it with two BIG dogs.... I can barely handle my Alfa Dog and C.J.! ;D

I caught that... You know you are just wrong. She needs to get after you good. Now with me and my pets... the cats and even when I had dogs... for some reason they didn't push me off the bed but want to sleep on top of me. I like it because they keep me warm... but I don't like it because when I want to turn over I don't want to push them off... still, I end up sore. So this will happen no matter where I sleep... if I"m on the couch or in the recliner or even on the floor. There they all be. ;D

I saw on CNN today that they believe that the birds in LA ran into some sort of object like high tension wires while the ones in Ark. were stress from exploding fireworks and that many may have been directly in the percussion range of the fireworks themselves causing multiple broken bones and internal injuries thus causing mass deaths.

Interesting to hear an explanation for it. I've been following it and wondering too. Andy the sheepdog just got back from the groomers- a bath and a brushing. He's normally quite thin, especially for a sheepdog. It's so funny because they fluffed the fur out when the brushed him and he looks like he gained 10 pounds in a few hours. Andy sleeps with me except when my sister is home. She sleeps on a couch in the living room and he sleeps all night with her, somehow she makes room. He loves to cuddle with his head in her stomach.

I know what you mean... Here is the cat I talked about for the longest... We lost her just over a year ago. This is Boots. she weighed about 17 pounds and loved to sit like this all of the time. It looked like she was folding herself in half sometimes. Now when she was wet... the fluff of her fur would show just how big she was... yet with her long fur sticking out all of the time, it made her look larger. i52.TP .com/a3dtt4.jpg[/img] OH and about the bird story... we still are having them drop out of the sky... The fireworks are over, so that was definately not the cause... not to mention why only the one kind? AND why didn't they ever drop dead any other year? OH and not to mention, my MIL would go out every a few times a week to shoot off bottlerockets to scare them away... (yeah, she stocks up on New Years and the Fourth of July at the firework stand.) She really does believe these birds will poison her yard with some sort of disease.. This is something she was brought up to believe... so this is to show the intensity she has against the birds being there.. She's after them all of the time with the fireworks and they just get up and then go right back to where they were like it was no big deal. I'm really interested in finding out what they come up with as to the cause to all of this...
