Wow a rat? I know I've seen them at pet stores even seen them on television... but never actually knew anyone who had one.
The cat you mentioned named Chip sounds sort of like my Mattie. She's crazy. Not long after she has a good meal in her tummy she goes on a running spree... then as she makes her way from one end of the house to the other, you never know what route she will take... if there happens to be a curve in there somewhere, she ends up litterally running sideways ON the wall until gravity kicks in and she finds her feet back on the floor or couch. She does not realize she can't fly. ;D
I'm going to miss her terribly... Aside from my kids, I think it's the think I'll miss most of all when I move. BUT she's my daughters cat even if Mattie thinks she's mine. So when my daughter goes back and forth between my house and her dads we have it set up that she can bring Mattie along.
Really... Mattie is the only cat out of the three we have that will do quite well riding in the car. Frostie, a long haired black cat would be too terrified... Worse? Hermione. Now I'll be taking her with me so she only needs to ride once. She will do quite well being an only cat. She's so cranky Mattie just looks at her and Hermione growls. ;D
OH and you mentioned a cat in front of the computer... Mattie does that all of the time.. She's long, but you would not know it until you see her stretch. She's so sleek. Even though she's a year old already, to look at her she still resembles a kitten with more growing to do. Frostie and Hermione were once fat cats. Now Hermione's skin droops ever since she lost her weight. It was all the diet I fed them. I have them on Indoor formula Cat Chow. I know... it's not the good brand that the Vet tells us we should use... but they seem to like it and it does good for no hairballs. ;D

My vet didn't tell us what brand we should use, but did say NO dry food. Cat's digestive systems weren't made for dry food, and for those cats with a predisposition for it, it can lead to diabetes. I already dealt with that with our 2 other cats who were not fat... so I REALLY want these to lose weight! They only eat canned food (fancy feast), and I avoid any with gravy or sauce. I have to weigh them again to see if it's working...
Back to some "magical creatures" ....sort of... I had a dream last week that there were these animals attacking us...never seen before in real life. They had bodies sort of the shape of a raccoon's, but they had snakelike necks and heads. Their entire bodies were covered in light grey fur that stuck up everywhere...even on their neck and heads. They moved very quickly, and when one came after me, I had the inspiration to grab it by the neck, and swing it around and around and then fling it...just like the Weasley's got rid of garden gnomes...and yes, that was exactly my thought in the dream! So anyway, it worked, and though they kept coming back, it gave us the time we needed to run a little further until we were safely inside the house (not any house I know of in real life). Weird! LOL

Great dream! Perfect for a good Halloween movie, I think. My cat is an indoor cat , 8 years old. He does pretty well with his weight, I think it's because he goes up and down stairs a lot and runs around playing with the dog.

Poor C.J. is exhausted today after all the door bell ringing last night for Halloween. He gave up and collapsed on his puffed cushion about half way through the festivities!

I know what you mean. We have to keep Andy in his crate because he gets so excited he would be jumping all over everyone. But he was still exhausted afterwards.

Oh NO! I had just a few pieces of Candy left over after Halloween, seeing as we had 206 kids..
I dropped a Sweet Tart on the floor and C.J. got hold of it before I could get to it..
He bounce off the walls all night.. Now he is sleeping as if he were in a Coma.. And I am exhausted having to have gotten up 3 time last night to fill his upstairs water dish all night long!

Oh Duddahs, sounds like he is keeping you busy!
This makes me think of my big mixed breed Arthur, I've mentioned him before and have thought before I should write about him here. He was a champion foodl thief. One Halloween he got into a tin of about thirty trick or treat bags. I kid you not, he ate everything, every piece of candy, every wrapper, even the bags themselves. No ill effects at all, and wanted his supper as always. He had a cast iron stomach! He was a big 77 pounder and we hadn't had such a big dog before so weren't used to how far up they can reach to get things. Sometime I'll have to come on again and tell you about more of the things Arthur stole. But other than that he was perfect-I used to always say "Arthur is perfect, he has no faults." I hope C J gets rested up today-and you too!

;D Listening to your dogs cracks me up. I know I went to the door with Mattie on my shoulder. She likes to be carried around like a baby. Stradles my hip and places her arm around my shoulder to hold on while she sits on my forearm. I think it's funny. It's been years since I had a cat like that. Well... back to Halloween. She flew out over my shoulder both this year and last when I tried holding her to give the candy to a trick or treater. It's so funny.
As the the sneek food theif. My dog Sunshine.. the red golden retriever we once had. She must have gone through an obedience training course. Odd to see a dog NOT attempt to sneek or beg for food when they see the people eat. Well... I have told this story before. Only once did she do any sneeking. That was Christmas day. We normally put out a plate of home made sugar cookies and a tall glass of milk for Santa. We had her long enough to know she would not touch it even though it was set out in the living room on a table next to the tree. Well... of course Santa can not eat a whole plate of cookies, so he takes a few and leaves the rest for the family. Turned out we were right, Sunshine did not touch the plate at all that night.. but half way through the next day the plate was completely clean... not a crumb at all.. just nice and shiny. We never saw her do it either... and the plate was still right where we left it. I miss her dearly... I'll do like Fangsfan and tell you more about her at a later date..
I just wanted to throw in a little goofy thing about MY sneak food thief. Mattie... she is a sneek that is for certain. She likes to watch you from across the room.. You could be paying attention to the television while you eat something like chips. You won't even know shes watching you and contemplating. Well... funny story was once she watching my daughter eating Dorrito's. Then she timed it to where one of the times she reached into the bag to retrieve another chip, Mattie flew across the room, grabed the chip and took off with it some place else. It all happened in less than half a second. My daughter didn't know what hit her. ;D

OH Duddah... I had a guy at work have that same sugar high. He ate so much candy that he was being goofy. I knew he would sleep hard yesterday when the sugar high drops him. Hmm.... I wonder what CJ and Andy would do with a Bertie Bott?

When I came home this morning and sat down in my Leather Chair by the front window in the living room, I was greeted by our White Squirrel. He sat there eating his fill of a piece of fruit that he had gotten from somewhere..
Then low and behold, I saw this very tiny white squirrel come running across the park and right up the tree that the larger one was sitting in (I cut a lower branch off many years ago in the crotch of the Ornamental Cherry Tree and it is the perfect place for the squirrels to sit on since it is perfectly flat and about5 feet above the ground).
Well, now I know that he or she had a baby! We normally have only a few of these Whites at the same time and often only one at a time, but here there is a parent and a baby, and I know there is another White on the other side of the park.. Mine lives in my 200 year old Male Ginko Tree in the back yard so I know where he is from.. I say he, he might be a she... Who Knows? All I know is they are White!

I would love to see a white squirrel, I never knew there was such a thing! I did see a white rabbit run by through the snow one time when I was walking in the woods. A white squirrel would be so cool to see.

Inever heard of them either until last year when duddah was telling us about them. I thought the only ones had to be albino.. but these are not. So I googled them and see just how beautiful they are.

I love the story about Mattie the cat stealing the Dorito! The other night I got woken up about 3 AM. The cat was crying at the dog and cuffing him, trying to get him to wake up and play. I wonder what Hagrid does in situations like that?

One of my best friends has a feline that sounds just like Mattie. She is light as a feather and fast as the wind. She is funny as all get out when we decorate the Christmas Tree too!
Oh I do love our White Squirrels and yes, Miss Charlotte is correct. They are documented as not Albino. They have Black Eyes.
We also had some other Whites in our area. We had a White Mama Skunk years ago and extremely pale Raccoons. I mean PALE! They were buff and light brown but their Masks were black as can be.

We have raccoons around here too, although not the pale ones, I'd like to see those and the white skunk too. Raccoons are Veeery mischievious. One night I caught them getting into my rubbish that I had put out for pick up and chased them off. One of them ran over to my neighbors and jumped right into her rubbish, it reminded me of a little kid jumping into a pile of leaves, it was so funny to see.

Yep, those raccoons are very mischievous.. They get into everything around here too at night.. If it is not tied down, it will wind up in the park!
It is that time of year that when I go out very early to go to work at the Ice Box, the front lawn is covered in Canada Geese..
Nasty mess too!

Ooo.... Racoon stories... I have a couple. But I'll tell the good one. Back so many years ago, when I used to live out in the country in a little white house... and I mean little. I kept hearing noises out front. I took a peek out of my living room window. It was so funny. See... I'm used to seeing my mother in law's pet racoon. At that time that she fed it dog food and cheese puffs. It was HUGE. So in my mind when I looked out on my porch I thought I saw a baby out there. I was wrong.. All of a sudden I noticed four tiny little racoons following right behind this one who had to be the momma. What was funny about all of this is they were using my son's ramp his father built to get him up on the porch from the driveway. They were going round and round in a circle like it was a playground and they were having fun. They did this late every night about elevenish for quite a while. I was able to show someone on cue on a different night.
Hey Duddah... we still have Canadian Geese flying around down here. They fly so low too it sometimes startles you when you are not expecting them to be right there.

Yes, the Canada Geese can startle one if you are not aware that they are there. This morning , there must have been at least 200 Geese on the front lawn..
When I walked down the driveway to take C.J. for his AM constitutional, he caught sight of them and took off after them as if he were the hungriest Shi Tzu int he world!
He actually tackled one and then scared himself silly! He ran back to me and stood behind my legs barking as if he were a Big Dog..... Yeah real protection huh?
The Geese then took off and hit the water en mass.. It really is a beautiful site to see that many land at once but they sure do make a mess!

Raccoon stories are great! I had a friend who had one getting in to stuff outside her house and she started chasing him-running around in circles around her house. She said she was running and all of a sudden something passed her and it was the raccoon! It had run so fast it had caught up with her and run right past her!
