Hey! fangsfan. When we were thinking that the WB was really going to close, I grabbed all of the images people posted over on the Quibbler and Lounge threads. I found pictures you had your sister post of your cat Duke and your Andy. Just let me know if you want me to put them up here for you and I'll do it.

I would love that Miss Charlotte! It's so funny we were just talking today about how I posted Duke's pic and you thought he was pretty. He turns 11 the end of this month! I would love to see his and Andy's pictures here. I've been meaning to post on this thread about what a good time I've been having this summer watching my hummingbirds. They come steady to their feeder, lots of times by twos and sometimes three. They put on a show, chase each other, swing in the air like they are on a tightrope, and one time two of them just kept hovering in the air facing each other like they were having a meeting of the minds. I sit out on the porch reading so often in the spring and summer that I think they've gotten really used to me being there.

I'll get to those pictures soon. OH and how the humming birds came out in droves. For the longest I thought they established a place where they were going to eat already. I wondered if we were late in setting out the feeder this year. Turned out as soon as the Mamosa tree bloomed, they came in droves. I sometimes sit out on the back porch, posting here online, and watch them fly all over the top of that tree. Then when I go in the house, I can see them make trips to the front porch feeder. It's so cool to see them play and chase each other around like you mentioned. Fall is coming and I will be sad to see them go.

Miss Charlotte, I didn't realize yours would go off, I figured it would be warm enough where you are that they would stay year round. Mine will be going too but I think they stay through most of September.

Mine will be going too but I think they stay through most of September. Yeah, I think they follow the butterflies and head further south. For some reason I wonder if we might have an early winter... or at least a fall. Normally we skip spring and fall, to get the extreme weather changes. Normally it's around October when the Monarch butterflies start to fly through on their yearly trip down to Mexico. I've already been on the look out for them. Yeah. I'm ready for cooler temps. LOL. It's funny, because you can see they all fly in the same direction for a few weeks at a time. One trip across my small town, and you might see five, six or more at one go. Not in groups though. Still, it's about that time when the other birds start flying off for the winter. I think we keep our Cardinals year round... and our Canadian Geese. I wonder really where the humming birds go or if they hibernate?

Ugh...my poor little kitty. At Dobby's recent check-up, the vet thought she might feel an enlarged kidney. So we got the ultrasound, and it turns out that something has blocked the tube that allowed the fluid to flow out. They don't know how long ago this happened, but long enough for most of that kidney to become nephritic (dead). They want to take the kidney out. Well, my husband and I discussed it, and we thought we could manage $2000... MAYBE $3000 if we really tightened our belts. Went to the consult today...the estimate? Depending on what they find...$5000 to $7000!!! There is no way we can afford that. She's only 7! I am going to look into other alternatives...for all I know this place is way overpriced... but if this is the case, we just can't do it. I don't know what will happen to her if we do nothing... Erin

:'(OH Erin. That sounds so high a price. I wish you luck finding someone who might do it for much less. I know last year we were afraid to take our Hermione cat to the vet. She was old but we knew it was her time. After all was done and she's now sleeping under the Mamosa tree outside of my bedroom window. We wished we had taken her in so she would not have suffered that last little bit. Before this we were living on my two paychecks as well as my hubby's one. At the time this happened we were down to just my one paycheck. We knew there really was nothing we could afford at all. And you don't want your boys to witness it when the time comes. All I can say is keep looking for another vet with better prices. Don't do nothing either, because that was truly horrible. I think she held on longer only because I didn't want to leave her alone. Good luck.

So sorry to hear that Erin. I'll keep my fingers crossed you find someone who can do it for a better price, I know around here they do have differences in prices for different vet offices. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.

I didn't know where to put this, but I HAD to. I just about fell out of my chair last night watching TV. Yeah... I'll admit to being addicted to watching Call of the Wildman. That guy... the Turtleman drives me nuts, but believe it or not, I know people just like him. And my daughter wants him to move in right next door to us. NO KIDDING! I look at her like she's nuts. Honestly, she has a talent like his at being fearless at jumping in and catching animals on a dime and being good at it, especially when it comes to birds. (When she grows up, if she does not get a job working in photography, it KNOW she'd do good working in a zoo.) I used to have her go out and catch our farm animals. Catching those ducks and putting them up when they don't want to be, is harder than it looks... same for the goats. But the horses always listened to me. OK... Last night, I was nearly asleep watching his show. They were down in Mexico chasing some "legendary spirit creature". OK This is where it gets Soooo funny. It turned out to be an Ocelot. A beautiful little creature. Yep, I sit up straight in my chair and rub my eyes . There was ME many years ago! This time I'm being chased around by the Turtleman. I know I had NOT fallen asleep. OK.... lets back up a moment. Only some of you heard this... and only part of this story. I'm sure you have noticed by now my new avatar. Actually, it's my original Miss Charlotte Avatar. See, Miss Charlotte was originally a roleplay character. I created her to play over at another site. (The Alan Rickman Forum RIP ) Miss Charlotte was a familiar who watched over and protected another character a Mrs. Caroline Brandon. Mrs. Brandon was a made up rp character married to Charles Brandon. Alan Rickman played Charles Brandon in Sense and Sensability, but in this rp version he was also in the Harry Potter world a very upstanding wizard. He was a good friend to the Malfoys, but also a good man. He was also going up for Minister for Magic, against Fudge, since Fudge will no doubt will be down in polls, due to the fact he can no longer deny that Lord Voldemort was back. This story was taking place in between books five and six... book six was yet to be released. Anyway, my character basically, watched over Mrs. Brandon quietly from a distance, often napping in a tree outside her balcony, also going in at night to the kitchen for a bite of raw fresh meat before making my rounds to make sure all was well in the house for her mistress safety. I hated speaking characters.... so this was a perfect one for me. *snickers* Still.... seeing that ocelot on TV last night..... and looking at my dreadful hair on my avatar lately has been bugging me so much ..... it inspired me to go dig out my OLD original image of Miss Charlotte. I've often posted over at the WB of her walking around in her cat form... but no one ever really knew what she looked like until now. So, maybe it's time I post with this for a while.... after all... she is ME as MY magical creature. ps.... and I will state that I am full aware that JKR came out and told the world that there are certain things that she absolutely does NOT have part of her harry potter world.... and one of them are "familiars." That made me sad to hear, because I already had made Miss Charlotte part of our roleplay before she came out with that bit of news. I say... Oh well.

OK.... I don't know HOW to say this. I feel as though people would think I'm telling lies. I know if my daughter was telling me this I'd look at her sideways thinking... yeah right. I know I would not believe this unless I saw it myself. Because there is no way possible for anyone to do this. It's not scientifically possible. Loki cat is defies science, that's all. The only way to describe this, is to say you watch this on TV... then you rewind the visual and watch it backwards. I literally watched her with my own eyes jump from the floor, jump UPwards backwards booty first and land on the arm of my chair. She then looked over her shoulder back at me. I know I'm in new medications, but this is NOT possible. This was NOT on TV but happened right next to me. I grabbed her and squished her good looking around knowing that I was the only one who saw her. I felt like muggle who saw something magical and knew that there was no way on earth anyone could believe me. People would think I'm nuts. I mean, why would I make up something so stupid? It makes no sense for her to do something like this. My medications I don't think are that strong. I'm not hallucinating because I DID grab her and she really was backward toward me. OK..... Maybe I'm just experiencing a Twilight Zone moment?

My cat Duke has always loved Christmas. I usually start to get mailorders coming in this time of year and we've started a tradition. I take a big box and put it down by my coffee table and he hangs out in it for the season. This year it has put the devil into him-he's been racing around at night the way cats do. Then one of the flaps fell down and he feels like he's in a little cave-he loves it!

Well Andy the sheepdog is getting more squeakers for Christmas as usual. He never gets tired of them. So far he will be getting an owl, a grunting penguin, and a grunting frog. He gets so excited on Christmas day that he can't open all his presents at once-he gets just exhausted. So we have to save some for another day.

Instead of the Super Bowl, I watch the Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet channel-will have to tape it this year as I'm working. This year one of the puppies is going to be an Old English sheepdog-can't wait to see!

Just finished watching my tape of the Puppy Bowl. Ginger the OES got into trouble with the referee-for biting his pants bottoms and for digging in the water bowl like it was dirt. But she did also score a touch down so not too shabby.

One of the most exciting parts of the holiday gifting is to see the four legged family members playing with their new toys... I remember my mom telling me that she had wrapped up a stuffed animal to send to my son for Christmas. Her dog sat watching all the while. She had gone on to wrap other gifts then noticed the dog was gone. She didn't think anything more of it. Then when she went to put all of the gifts into a box to mail to us that the one for my son was missing. Then she got to thinking.... she has tons of stuffed animals she buys for her dog. They kept them all in a basket in the living room and another in her bedroom. (of course they are safe ones for pets to have.) Well... there was her dog all happy that she had unwrapped the gift and was having so much fun playing with the new stuffed animal that she ended up buying something else for my son. Got to love dogs. OH... another story was how she'd buy those rawhide sticks and she would wrap them up and put them under the tree... it just about drove the dog crazy to be told that she could not open it yet. It knew just what one was hers. She could smell it. LOL. Mom decided to not put those gifts down until the day of the gift opening.
