OK..... Weird thing these magical creatures...
We have tons of squirrels that live on our property and the surrounding properties. Well, when we first moved in here a couple of years ago, my hubby had the fire department to bring a ladder so they could together hang up my daughter's tire swing. I was maybe two to three times higher than our house. So... yesterday the squirrel's got together and revolted. All of this time they have been trying to get the frayed end that ties the swing to the tire. They were trying to take off with it for nesting materials. So, they did this without being successful. So yesterday we looked out in the back yard only to see that the part that was tied to the tree limb has been chewed in two. The tire swing now lays on the ground. There was no knot up there to tempt them... just the rope thrown over the limb. Yep... they can be little meanies sometimes. But I still love them. Thank goodness my daughter thinks this is funny.

OH I still just love that clip. It does remind me of how Duddah's and I would be. ;D Thanks. I've saved the link for times I need a pick me up. ....... Oh how magical our magical creatures can be. Recently we had to take our Baby girl... (my daughter's youngest gray striped cat) in to have her surgery. It's been a week now and so tomorrow morning we will take out the stitch. First, it's been a while since we had Mattie fixed. My daughter never remembered that the doctor will shave the cat's fur where they need to do the cutting. She was just about to come unglued on the lady who brought her out from the back room as soon as she saw her Baby kitty had a belly shaved and also they did her neck where they put in the IV. LOL. I had to tell her that even humans have to be shaved before surgery for health reasons. They had to shave my belly before she could be born. (C-Section for both of my kids.) Her daddy's leg/ankle had to be shaved where they did surgery. That is just how things are. Still, Baby did look funny. The cat never acted like it ever bothered her. She did great. A bit woozy for the rest of the day, but before long she was pouncing on Mattie as if nothing ever happened to her. Well... one thing I miss. By the time we got her in to have the surgery, she had four regular boy cats hanging about in our back yard. I think they moved in. One in particular loved to take daily naps on the bean bag chair which was in the center of the trampoline. I do miss him. They all went away the very day she went in. It really does show the magic of pheromones and what they do to the male gender. WOW.

My magical Mattiecat.... She's so goofy.
Yesterday, she tried to get in between the shelves on my computer stand like she used to when she was a wee one. She's too fat to do that now, but still she tried.
Then it took me nearly two hours of looking all over my house for my mouse for my laptop... I found it, she took off with it and I found it underneath a table near my bed. She was throwing a fit this morning about about 5 am since I was not going to get up out of my sleep just to give her breakfast a couple of hours early.. goofy thing. LOL
Yeah.... my cat took off with my laptop mouse... What a thought? LOL!
be back later.... company is here.

Today because of various family issues I only had time for a short walk with Andy before work. Tonight I came home from work, went in the bathroom and heard a commotion. I came out and found a big teddy bear on the floor, a suitcase turned over, and my shredder knocked over too. Then he grabbed a roll of paper towels and started eating them, loves anything to do with paper. I guess even at 7 years old he still needs his exercise, no short walks tomorrow!

You know... I might just need to backread this thread again. I might need to know something that has been posted. See, yesterday I suddenly found myself with this little sniffing thing right beside me. She'll run and fall over, whine and bark. The cats don't like her but I know it will take time. Yes... time. She's adorable, but so different. She's not mine but I know I'll end up taking care of her like I do all of the animals that come into our family. I'm just scared, like my daughter is, that it's not permanent. Hubby likes to bring home pups and then be reminded of how they are not potty trained from birth. sighs.... I hope this works out. It's just not fair to the pup if it does not.

Hey... is it normal for puppies to cry out in their sleep? I've never had a cat meow in their sleep... I'm just learning what to think about this little gal.

I think the puppy could be dreaming and could just be stressed out from all the changes of a new environment. Also I don't know if she's in a crate at night? I know new puppies will cry sometimes in a crate until they get used to it? What kind of puppy is she? I'm so excited for you, I hope it works out so you can keep her. Puppies are so much work but I love them!!!!

My pups have all done that.
I call them Puppy Mares instead of nightmares.
Sometimes their little legs will be moving a million miles a minute as if they are running too!
My Vanderbilt used to growl in his sleep and then suddenly smile.. Yes he actually did smile... He was too smart for his own good too. Stunningly handsome and smart and he had a bad temper to boot but was an angel with anyone else other than me.. He would never show them his evil twin side. He would wait for them to leave and then out came Billikin *his nickname was Billy* or sometimes he was know as Buffalo Bill because he used to buffalo his puppies into thinking he was some tough meanie when deep down he loved them all dearly... He was one in a million and I had 4 of them at that time.. That dog stood out like a shiny new Penney and everyone wanted to be his best friend and he wanted them to be his. That is except me when he had to take a pill or get a bath.. The out came Devil Dog!

Yeah... I know this is puppy dreams... I just never knew they talked in their sleep. This was a surprise to me since I've never heard my cats to that in their dreams. Yes... cats too run in their sleep. funny since not only their little feet will run, but their whiskers will flicker quite fast. I say they are dreaming of running after those mice they only see in their dreams. ... We named the pup Daisy. Not sure why... still, she has yet to acknowledge that is her name. That really is how I name my pets.. I call it and they except it or reject it. It sometimes is a name that is made early on... or within a few days of getting the pet. She appears to be part Blue Tick Hound and Beagle. She's definitely a hunting dog. She was a dump over at my MIL's house. They had her about two weeks and she seems very healthy looking. Nice and round but not bloated.. happy and cheerful. She's smart too. She's been cleaned up... no fleas or ticks. She smells like a puppy still. About the size of our adult cats. She has not attacked them... and already is learning her boundaries. Only two accidents on the carpet... but that was our fault. We are learning to make sure she goes pee before we bring her in... and we complement her heavily so she knows we like it when she goes outside. As for sleeping in a crate... She's been sleeping on my MIL's porch and doing just fine. Now that we have a brand new deck out back of our house... and it's topped with a roof... she's been sleeping just fine out there at night without any fussing. We bring her in a lot during the day for limited periods at a time... just to make sure she does not get into the habit of leaving little surprises for us... I've never been able to house brake any dog in my life... knock on wood... I think this one will work. She's been wonderful so far. I'm just going to have to be retrained to watch out for clues to know her wishes. I'm so much of a cat minded person, never noticing when my cats need the litter box, that this will be something new for me. Really, she's my hubby's dog. I'm glad for that because he sits around our house so bored, I think this pup is the right thing for our family and especially will keep him busy inside the house and outside. She's fun... and we are beginning to feel the magic she has on our hearts.

Blue tick hound and beagle-sounds like a great combination and I can't wait to see the pictures. Before I got my Andy I got the book Puppies For Dummies. Even though I had several puppies before, my sheepdog Theo was such a holy terror I figured a few hints wouldn't be amiss. In spite of the somewhat insulting title, I found this book to be fantastic-I recommend it to anybody who is getting a puppy.

Thanks.... I"m very open for that. Really, I like that "for Dummies" series. So often you come across self help books that still are a bit hard to understand or they expect you should have some sort of basic knowledge or experience before you crack open their book. This series is a good one that gives you the basics. So they have one for puppy owners? I ought to check it out. For me, I'm totally lost. Honesty, we have been recently talking about getting a dog... but an old one. My hubby found one for free on Craig's List. He called and we were the one who they excepted out of all of the people who asked about it. There was an old lady who passed on leaving her old Yorkie very much scared and alone. The old lady's only family was a son who lived in a far away state and could not take the dog. The lady we talked to took it in only to find that it was terrified of her 4 year old child. It would not come out of the closet it took shelter in the whole time she had it. So, she put in an advertisement saying how she will choose from all those who calls. I don't mind and old dog that is already house broken. Yorke's are small and so I don't think my cats wold be intimidated by a small dog. The lady had scheduled a time for us to go pick it up on Easter Sunday. An emergency put her own mother in the hospital, so they had to cancel. Since that day, she has not returned our calls. Then here comes this pup, dropped off at my MIL's house. I have reservations about getting too attached to this one, knowing my hubby's track record. He tends to get a pet on spur of the moment then after a while getting rid of it because of not wanting to deal with it anymore... (within the past year, we did have a goldfish... and we no longer have the three parakeets. Last year he had another dog. And he still bounces back and forth between loving our three cats and wanting to get rid of them. ) I really only want inside pets since I can't get outside to love on them as I would like. (My extreme allergies of the things out in the yard will make this painful for me and it gets worse every year.) This is my hubby's Bluetick/beagle dog so he's got to get a feel for him all on his own. He wants to keep her outside and allow her to come in when he wants her to be. I personally let her in on my own in the mornings.I'm afraid I'm getting attatched to her... but I know that is to be expected. I have so much to learn as well... I'll check out this book. I wonder if they have this at our library? Thanks for the tip.

Our very magical creatures. ;D Yesterday was a big day. It was my son's 24th birthday. I baked him a cinnamon strudel bunt cake. He slept hard (from his usual medications) for the whole morning long. There were things I had to tend to for him to have a better afternoon. It was just the two of us. It turned out that his father and sister went to an early showing of The Avengers in Little Rock. We've been waiting for that to come out for ages. SO... that meant that it was just the two of us at home. I had him up in his wheelchair. I went ahead and gave him one of his presents to hold. He smiled the whole time. He seemed very happy. We watched a movie in the living room that I had never seen before, but LOVED as a kid to read the book... Because I'm such an old lady, it's been years since I read that book to remember really how it went.... It's called Where the Wild Things Are. I would not buy the movie... Anyway... I tried to come here and post a bit. I could get online with my regular PC... but my laptop that I wanted to use in the Living room would turn on... I could do anything except get online. My computer said that I needed to manually click the Internet button... What's and internet button? I did a lot of troubleshooting via my computer and could not make heads or tails of it. I did go check my router several times.. clicked different buttons on it... I even unplugged all of the cords going into it then replugged them back in... I turned the whole thing off, then waited and turned it back on.. all the while I kept running back and forth to my laptop and the router... again, I'd check the regular PC and it worked lickety split. No hesitation with the internet connection. Then i went back to my laptop and did a restore date just in case whatever thing I've clicked on might be able to reset so I could get online. I did this twice. OH MY!!!!! Then about five minutes after I just closed up this thing.. (my laptop,) my hubby and daughter comes walking through the door. HE has always had a magical touch whenever it comes to mechanical things. He could literally touch something that is not working with one finger (it could be a toaster... a microwave oven where everyone else could click the button time and time again with no results, all it takes is one try for him and it works like there was nothing ever wrong. Yep... as I expected... he knew right where my internet button was on my laptop. Turns out my cat, Baby, had been walking on my table earlier. She was messing around with my computer. I didn't think she could harm anything... but instead she turned off the button when I reached to get her off of it. Wow... that blew my plans during that time. Still, I think it's funny how she never walks on my laptop, she always walks behind it. Maybe the magic in her was saying that this time just hang out with my son.... after all it was his day.
