That is so funny, that reminds me of our black cat we used to have named Velvet. People kept telling me they had left messages on my answering machine but I wasn't getting them. I finally realized Velvet was walking on the machine and turning the volume way down. I would see the flashes and think they were just hangups when there was no sound and delete them.

;D I just told my daughter your story and mine that I posted before yours... She said, "Isn't it funny how cats can be little boogers sometimes?"

LOL They sure can! Our Winky likes to lie across the top of the computer chair when I'm sitting in it...she's like a warm little pillow there!

LOL... That sounds like Mattie and 'Mione. They both like to wait until I get up from my computer chair, then they will quickly get comfy in it... (not at the same time. I think Mione might have taught Mattie to do this...) Then whenever I turn around to sit down, they would look up at me as if to say... "What?"
I'll betcha dog owners go through this magical telepathy as well.

Gave C.J. his summer clip job...
He was not happy one iota while it was happening, he shivered all night after that but now he is so happy he can not stop rubbing his face on things and rolling around on his back to pet himself..
His father had this habit of going into the kitchen getting a long drink of cold water and then running into the living room rubbing his face on both sides against the perimeter of the carpet in the center of the room..
Well, C.J. finally tried this last night.. Ran in with a huge smile on his face after drinking some water. Promptly pushed his face against the edge of the carpet and then began to run around the perimiter like a snow plow with his head down and at full speed when suddenly he lost control. His rear end went up into the air and he did a somersault and landed with a huge thud on his back!
He just looked up at me with a shocked look on his face and began to pant with a huge open mouth and his tongue handing out sideways....
Dozie Dog!

That is where Hermione lays each time I am sitting on the couch... She can see my whole world's point of view from there. Funny, I can lean back and her fur is so warm. Then whenever I am eating, I don't give my cats table food, but they want it... they think staring at it will help them get it. Then every once in a long while, if I"m holding something edible in my hand and I am about to take a bite... but distracted by something on TV... or a conversation I'm having, I'll notice this white little paw slowly reaching out from over my left shoulder. I'll turn my head and her eyes get big like she knows she's been caught. LOL. Goofy cat.

I've had a great time today watching the hummingbirds come to my feeder. And then my favorite birds, Baltimore Orioles, like the hummingbird food too and they've been coming. I was interested because there seems to be several different kinds of hummingbirds-the ruby throated ones, little green ones and brown and white ones. So I decided to google it and was amazed to find-there are something like 300 hummingbird varieties!!

Oh this is so funny. Today while I was out, I had to go to the store to pick up a couple of things. One of them was that stuff to feed them. My daughter hung the feeder out there and filled it with water only. I told her it's supposed to be sugar water.
Really, I don't know why I bought anything. Since we moved into town, we have never had any luck seeing even one. But several miles outside of town, where we used to live out in the country, we had tons. Just like you said... some with green throats... some without. I remember about three or four different patterned ones. It was fun to watch them fight over the feeders too. They would chase each other off quite a way before they would return and take a sip. Next, they'd sit not too far away just to keep an eye on the feeder in case the other guy came back. They really get victious too. LOL.

Hey miss C. I don't know if you have any already, but brightly colored trumpet-shaped flowers attract them if they're nearby enough to spot them! My parents have lots of flowers all around their house, and this one vine with those flowers has grown to reach the deck, and flows over the railing onto it. They get so many hummingbirds every year, with no special feeder for them! We haven't seen a whole lot of them here...but I did NOT inherit my Dad's green thumb. But we do put regular feeders out, and enjoy lots of other birds. I have so many pictures from over the years! Beautiful!

We used to have lots of flowers. A beautiful rose garden out back too. Hubby during the divorce got rid of it all. So sad too. All of the flower beds are bare but for the decorative grass and shamrocks. Which reminds me, I do have a window box and some empty pots to fill come payday. There is no way I'm going to let him touch those. I guess I know what to fill them with.... something to attract humming birds and butterflies.

I use the sugar and water for mine, I make my own. I've always loved hummingbirds and several years ago decided I'd try getting a feeder. I figured it might be a few weeks before I saw any but was very surprised to find that they started coming within about 15 minutes of my putting it out! I've been putting out my feeders ever since. I didn't realize Baltimore Orioles liked that kind of food too until they started coming to my feeders, it was when I had gotten a bigger one that they can perch on. I've always heard of those butterfly gardens but never seen one in action, I bet it's beautiful to watch them.

YOu know... with all that has been going on here lately, I completely forgotten about setting this out. I think this will be on my to do list today.
Thanks guys...
OH and Erin... I"m also glad that I reread your comment right now.. today I need to go to the store. I think I'll try to bring some cheer and bring home some of those flowers. They have hanging pots that are so beautiful. I've had them before and the humming birds just loved them where we lived at that time.

My hummingbirds are still coming like crazy, even in the rain. Sometimes they come by twos and threes and chase each other around, they're fun to watch. And they like the homemade food, I tried buying it once but they seem to like the homemade much better. I saw a mother duck and 7 babies on one of my walks this week, hoping to see more wildlife this summer.

I can't believe it. Your Dobby nearly looks identicle to my old cat Boots. Just the head is different and Boots had no tail really to speak of. I"m glad you posted this... it is so cool. .... My daughter did say about a week ago, that she saw a hummingbird stop by ours out front. Where I'm sitting now, I can see the one hanging out back of the house in our young Mamosa tree. No takers yet for that one. I tried that hanging plant with the purple flowers out front. The weather is so dry here, I'm having a hard time keeping it alive. I water it daily, but it's not looking so well. .... I have so much to post on this thread... but I'll have to comment at a later time.

Can mosquitos be considered magical creatures? My uncle who is visiting and I went into a bog yesterday to do some bird watching. We saw lots of birds and it was a beautiful area. This was way out in the woods and the bugs were some of the worsr I ever saw-huge mosquitos that swarmed around us. Maybe someone did an engorgement charm on them.

We have these things that resemble giant mosquitos here during the summer. They don't bite. They are often called May Flies or Mosquito Hawks. They are known to actually eat mosquitos from what I"m told. Although, I've never seen one do it. Every now and then, on a boring summer eve, I like to catch one and let it go in my house, just to give my cats some entertainment. This also entertains us just to watch our cats try to climb the walls trying to catch them.

I've always heard of May flies but never knew what they were before. My cat is the same way if there's a bug flying around, goes crazy trying to catch it.
