OK.... something levitated.... something alive and a set of three. There is a connection to either Christmas and the Great Hall... something that is up at night and not many even know they exhist...
All I can think of is Dobby... I don't know how the levitation fits in there... but there are only three house elves that we know the names to. They come out and clean only at night... Not all students know about them. THen Dobby does sneak up on Harry one Christmas and scare the beegeebeez outta him. So.... could it possibly be Dobby?

I am so sorry to say that your answer is incorrect. But Fawkes is so impressed that you take the time to explain your answers. It is something Fawkes so looks forward to.. Not too many things make me as happy as reading the reasoning behind the answer. You see, Professor Flitwick is very familiar with we three. There are other things that he places here and there but we all know it is our beauty that makes the students and staff stare.

Really, I do it because I know my mind does not think in the normal patterns most people's do. I'm always afraid that if I don't explain, then if I"m wrong, it might sound like I"m throwing darts.... and that is not what I want. I"ll still have to ponder some more... For some reason I want to say the trio... but I need to try again later once my brain starts working again. Fairy lights? Be back if someone else does not figure it out first... And by all means... don't wait on me if someone has it.

Just look at those Fairy Lights upon the Tree, now you should see me, and me!

;D It looks like I"m going to have to dig out the books since I hardly remember more about the tree than him putting ornaments and lights upon it.

The three living ones you can see might be the three remaining Marauders Lupin, Pettigrew, and Black, but the rest of the riddle wouldn't make any sense unless the wigardium Leviosa refers to the act of silencing the whomping Willow

For you see, the Fairy's used as lights was oh so very right. But you see it was Fleur who spoke next of we who decorated the Palace of Beauxbaton own Christmas Tree. Then there are those who give a little hoot. Even a little one can be found on one of our very own Common Rooms to boot! So you will see, the Three we be are all some sort of decoration on a Wizarding Christmas Tree.

I am a little perplexed at this one. I was reading about the Hogwarts celebrations and it said there were actual faries used in the trees, but I doubt wingardium leviosa would be needed for them. That spell lead me to think of the magical stones, but those were not alive and they were in the suits of armor not on the trees. I just cannot figure this riddle out.

I know this is a toughie, I'm still trying to find the answer. I loved Flitwick putting the live fairies on the tree but haven't been able to find where there were only three of them. Then Fawkes last clues sound like owls-still trying to remember or find out if owls were on the trees somewhere? And then Fleur is mentioned-I think I remember her talking about ice sculptures but can't remember if something was in threes? Back to the drawing board!

I declare that I WILL be the one to figure this one out today... now watch me wear egg on my face... But anyway at least a good attempt. I"m awake today, but have erronds to run this morning. THis thread will most definately be on my posting sprees today. But i do know what you guys are saying... off the top of my head, I only recall him using the levatition spell on the ornaments.. but we might be missing other years where other Christmas trees were decorated. I thought the fairy lights were more prominent in my mind during the yule ball bushes outside.. but still, wondered if they were on the Christmas trees. I do see some digging by at least me or even some others here. Good luck... I see this one answered today. See you guys soon.

Well I see, I see. We still have found just one of the Three. Maybe if some of us read Goblet of Fire Chapter 23 there the others might be found to be.
The spell Wingardium Leviosa was used, but out Tiny Professor and he is the one who taught it to us and to our brains it be fused. So the hint in itself does not mean to be that he used this spell on all of us three. Just the point to be of who he was he!
Now there were other things that are decorated with these other than those original Sorcerers Stone 12 Christmas Trees. It seems to me that that is the sticking point that has brought many to their knees.
Now remember the common thread between the answers to these many clues. There is one more prominent and that is not a ruse.

Ok, I'm starting to get an inkling-the live fairies must be part of the answer but there are two other parts that go with them?

Ok, I'm starting to get an inkling-the live fairies must be part of the answer but there are two other parts that go with them? You are correct in this thought. Now go to that chapter and see what living creatures the characters to the chapter brought.

2. We are among the Three living ones you will see. With Wingardium Leviosa we are placed as gently as can be. We be lore to some and nocturnal company to others but we shall all be there while you wait for Santa under the covers. OK.... without looking at the book.. I have an idea... the Weasley twins topped a tree with a gnomb dressed in a tutu.. could this possibly be one of thelast two living things upon a wizards tree? I'll have to look up that Goblet of Fire reference and see what Fleur's comment. Be back in a bit. .... (edit) BACK and boy was it a bit! ;D "... a garden gnome that had bitten Fred on the ankle as hr pulled up carrots for Christmas dinner. Stupefied, painted gold, stuffed into a miniature tutu and with small wings glued to it's back, it glowered down at them all, the ugliest angel Harry had ever seen, with a large bald head like a potato and rather hairy feet." i53.TP .com/2d6w0th.jpg[/img] ".... choirs of wood nymphs, 'oo serenade us as we eat." Yeah I had to look it up and I had to remember that it was not necessarily something that went on the tree.. BUT instead was something alive used to decorate during the Christmas Holiday. So... to be more complete... 1. the Fairies 2. Garden gnome 3. Wood nymphs

The Ball of the Yule did play a big part, and I know that it will come to you all now since you are all so very smart. For it was said "Everlasting icicles had been attached to the banisters of the marble staircase; the usual twelve Christmas trees in the Great Hall were bedecked with everything from luminous holly berries to real,." Ones of THESE! Oh how shiny my kin can be.
