You didn't give anything I'm worried about here..whew *wipes forehead* but this is mainly a note for those who might say a bit too much later. *wink* You guys have fun! Grandpalovegood. ))

Hi everyone, I am Duddahs the Great Barn Owl aka Fawkes... I have been a long time member of the WB HP.com site and was part of one of the most prolific Magical Trading Card collecting teams of all time.
We are known as the Magical Consortium over on the MTC Board... I also post as Fawkes on the other parts of the site and have been one of the Moderators for Professor Malachi's Office for some time now.
I am one of the Two Administrators, alongside Grandpalovegood here in the Lovegood Lounge and if you are in need of any assistance, please do not hesitate to PM me. I will be sure to get the answer to you asap if possible.
For Duddahs himself, well he is just a bit over the Half Century mark and has a wonderful son who I nicknamed Dudespup. I have a wonderful other half and she is very busy being one of the top corporate attorneys in the nation.
Duddahs has retired from his main profession several years ago but still teaches privately as a Skating Instructor. Hence why he is so often in the Ice Box! Duddahs takes his Laptop with him everywhere and checks in as often as possible.
So glad to meet all of you and Duddahs looks forward to many years of Good, Clean, Harry Pottering Fun!

Hello everyone. It's so nice to have this Head Table to come to-thanks Erin! I live in a small town in Maine with my sheepdog Andy and my kneazle Duke-I'll talk more about them in the animal thread I'm sure. I am a huge animal lover. I had my mom here with me and took care of her until she passed away about three years ago. My sister comes home to visit almost every weekend-we have fun! I guess reading is my favorite thing in the world to do. I got the first HP book as a gift after it was out in paperbook. Started reading them and really became hooked when I read the third book. I'm also a huge fan of roots music-Americana/bluegrass/roots rock, etc. My sister and I are hoping to attend a music festival in Texas this coming March. We are having an official heat wave in Maine right now-three days in a row over 90. So guess I'll hang out here for a bit and cool off!

Yeah I was watching the weather channel today and they said that your region of the US has been having a 20 degree higher temperatures than you normally do. Finally for us, we have been below the triple digits all week.. AND now my air conditioner seems to be on the fritz again. I do hope everyone is taking precautions up there.. I saw how Duddah has stated he's prepaired for the storm as best as he can. You all will be in my thoughts until this all blows over... Uh.. I can't believe I said that! NO PUN INTENDED. ;D Well... maybe so. Just please keep cool and safe.

Well the forecasters are saying the storm is going to hit the coast of North Carolina any moment now.
It will come up the East Coast and slam into Long Island which is just across from us.. We can actually go a few blocks and stand on the beach and see the buildings on Long Island itself, it really is that close.
Then it is going to head up North and slam into Cape Cod where Erin is and then head out to the open ocean.. Fangsfan, you still have to keep your eye out as they said it could still be lingering around enough to brush along the Maine Coast line..
The good thing is that it will bring down these temps we have been having...
You see, the South is use to the heat, the Northeast not so. All you have to do is watch the U.S. Open Tennis on TV and you will see and hear how sweltering it is in Flushing New York... That is on the weather we are having since it is so close to us. We are considered a BURB of New York City...
We all have to send a little thought out to Professor Malachi too. Her area is pretty low lying and right on the path of the storm too. The town over from her had their major shopping mall flooded out completely a few years ago and they just this year had it re-open. The owner spent a fortune to get it opened again and now here they are once again in the way.. That is what we get for living in this wonderful section of the world... It is but a tiny price to pay to live in such a magnificent place.

Actually, I'm not on Cape Cod... At this point, it's supposed to be a category 1 by the time it gets here. We should be just fine! But don't worry if you don't hear from me. I'll try to post real quick on Sat...but we have a busy weekend ahead!

Thanks for the heads up Erin. I can tell this particular storm is pretty serious, because our Canadian news stations are talking a lot about it.

That is it. THAT IS IT!!! All of you!.... My neighbor has a fireplace.. They are nice people.. I don't think they would mind if you used the floo to hang out here safe and sound for a little while. Right now we have a cool temp of 78 degrees and this is cool.. even for 9:30 at night.

For us we just have a cool night. It's 70 degrees and hubby and I just finished opening up all of the windows. I miss the crickets we used to have from out in the country.. but we have the dogs and in the distance we might hear a car or two as they drive down the road.
YEP.. NZ even though I don't think you are in Earl's path.. everyone from here would be welcome.. I think it would be fun.. a campout at my house... at least until Earl blows past.
As for those quidditch fans... they remind me of Star Trek fans.. We used to name the particular local chapter from our world wide fan club, by the name of ships.. It was cool.. then we would have annual meetings.. monthly with our own ship. Than other ships from the state we would gather for conventions. Normally we'd have to stay in a hotel when one of the other ships had a convention that we would have to travel to their location.. Really.. this was a few surrounding states.
SO I wonder if this group of Quidditch players really do play? I've seen on the net all sort of ways muggles transformed the way they play it from the books to muggle style. I think it would be fun to attend one of these from a viewer's stand point.

Oh, they definitely play! They have the hoops set up on either end of the field. They have the players for each position. The beaters throw balls at the other players...the chasers try to score...the keeper tries to keep them out of the goals. The seeker must stay in bounds...and everyone MUST keep a broom between their legs. There is a person who is the snitch...I believe they have a cloth hanging out of a pocket or something...the snitch can run ANYWHERE they want to...on or off the field..they must make an appearance every so often. I saw a show on this a while back...but didn't realize they had made it serious competition!
