Just rereading some old posts…I hope you are all well! It feels like a whirlwind around here…so much happening!
Puffs the play went off really well. I do have some video, and if I can find time, will post some up on YouTube (I think I can set to private and invite people…? I’ll put up a few of the really good scenes.
The high school is now rehearsing for School of Rock. Aidan has 5 smaller parts (2 with a decent amount of lives), and understudy for Dewey Finn. He was saying that while he would have liked to get Dewey, it was nice to relax a bit, and not have to learn so many lines. Then, he found out that a local theater is doing Heathers teen edition, and he just HAD to try out for that…he hit JD…the male lead! So now he’s in rehearsals for 2 shows at once!
He has also made a decision that he wants to go to college and major in musical theater, minor in film/television. I think these are great choices for him. I took him on a trip to visit colleges, not to decide on specific colleges, but to see what they have to offer, and what he does/doesn’t like in a college. We went yo NYC, and saw 2 colleges there. Then we took a trip out to NJ to visit another, and then one more in CT on the way home. He liked one in NY, and thought he thought it would be a waste of time to visit @sone small college in NJ” (said with disdain). And now, he dreams of going to that college (Rider)😂
The process for musical theater acceptance is crazy. There are so many schools, but each is a small class, so you have to apply to 20+ schools. This summer, he will be putting together songs, monologues, a simple dance routine, and a wildcard video, recording them all to be sent for prescreens; getting his essays done, getting headshots, and researching schools he wants to apply to. Then, if he passes prescreens, he goes to an audition for each school (some are at unifieds…where multiple schools go to one place, and you spend the weekend going from one audition to another, some are live on campus, and some virtual). We sure will be busy!!!
Would love to hear from all of you!!!

Erin, that's great to hear, I had no idea how detailed that process was. Best of luck to Aidan during the application process, it all sounds very exciting and I hope he gets exactly when he wants!
I've been doing well and can't complain. It's hard to believe that spring is almost here and it seemed to turn up fast this year for some reason. I can't believe it's already April, and this year I was completely caught off-guard with all my vegetable seed planting. So this past week I've been in a scramble to prepare/set up everything. Luckily the weather has been nice so far, so I'm hoping for an early start to the growing season.
And great news as well, I've been finally able to coordinate a time to see Cursed Child with my friends. We're still deciding on an exact date but we are thinking some time in May. I've been talking about seeing it for literally years now, so it's great to see our plan finally coming together. I can't wait for it!
Fangsfan, Miss Charlotte and the rest of our Lovegood Lounge members, hope you all are doing well!

NZ - Oh, you will love cursed child! A friend of mine just saw it today, and was raving about it! I remember that despite my issues with the plot, I absolutely loved the play! I'm curious as to what was cut out from the original, when it was a longer, 2 part play. I doubt it will take much away from it. It was more the atmosphere and effects that were so magical, anyway. I'd love to see it again! I will work on getting some videos up for you guys, and I'll let you know when I have some up. Are any of you into Stranger Things? That is another favorite series of mine! They're doing a stage play in London...a prequel from what I understand. Aidan got a chance to send in videos with scripts from 2 scenes for the NY version (at least we're assuming it's the same one) because he fit the physical description of the character they were looking for. He had fun doing it, but needs to learn that sometimes you have to do MANY retakes before you get a good one, and he got frustrated and decided he was done. I thought one of the scenes, he did quite well (the first one we recorded). The second one I thought needed another take or two...but forcing it wasn't going to improve it, so we went with the best of what we had. We never heard back (we were told when callbacks would be), so I told him that he's now officially a professional...he got his first "No!" I hope to get on here a little more often...and hope to see some of you more often on here, too! Erin

Can't wait to see the videos Erin! Miss Charlotte, hope you are well and can peek in and update us on everything. Hoping everyone is enjoying the Spring and having beautiful weather

Hi all! Things have been so busy around here! How is everyone?
I tried to upload Puffs to YouTube, but I can’t upload videos longer than 10 minutes. I haven’t had a chance to break them up, but I will do that soon!
Update on Heathers: Does anyone remember the movie “Heathers”? It was a dark sort of comedy from the late 80s with Winona Ryder, Christian Slater and others. It wasn’t the best movie, but it was interesting. I had no idea that they had made int o a musical until a friend of Aidan’s mentioned that he wanted our high school to do it. The director nixed it because of content, it would never get approved by the school board. The privately run theater that Aidan goes to decided to do the teen version with their older teen group, and Aidan got the Christian Slater role..a true psycho, but he some really sweet and funny moments as well. I’m waiting to get the video, and will share those as well, in case anyone is interested. They did add in some of the content from the full broadway version, but even knowing that, I can see why it wouldn’t get approved at many high schools. The entire cast did a phenomenal job! I was so impressed with everyone!
We’re now starting to look into colleges for Adan to apply to in the fall. He would love to major in musical theater, and minor in film/television. So we’re working on college essays and prescreens this summer, so he can start submitting in Sept/Oct. He also needs to learn to drive…and get a summer job! Busy busy!
Keep in touch, everyone! Erin

Hi again! Life never seems to slow down! I still intend to upload Puffs for anyone who wants to see it, I just need to find the time!
In the meantime, if any of you are interested, someone else uploaded Heathers the Musical, where Aidan plays JD. It’s here if you’d like to see:
Hope to hear from you all soon!

Hi everyone! I finally got the Puffs videos uploaded into Dropbox, and you should be able to watch them from there. Aidan had so much fun as Wayne, and HP fans will really appreciate the humor! Enjoy! There are a couple of bloopers, but that’s okay… www.dropbox.com/sh/iq75mb5zr07bl7h/AACmjBYeFVPTI98A8HjoxseVa?dl=0I’ve had a lot of time on my hands, as a little over 2 weeks ago, I tore the MCL and ACL ligaments in my right knee. I’ve just begun driving short trips, but I’m still spending too much time on my butt! In October, once the MCL has hopefully healed, I’ll go in for the ACL surgery, and if the MCL hasn’t healed me, they will fix them both. Then I will need PT before I can drive again. I hate putting everyone out to do all the driving I usually do for grocery shopping and getting Aidan to all the different places he needs to go. At least I can take some of that back, and I’ll be able to drive to work once school starts…until surgery, anyway. I hope you all are doing better than that! And I hope you enjoy Puffs…it’s a really fun play! Erin

Hi All! I keep popping in to see if anyone has had a chance to post and update us on how they're doing. I'll update for now. I had surgery in October to repair my ACL, and just last week I started driving again...yay! James graduated college! He is now working with his school's career services to be ready to interview and present himself well. Between shows, Aidan has been auditioning for musical theater schools. He has to apply to each school and get accepted academically as well as pass a prescreen, and audition, and get accepted into the musical theater program. He has been completely accepted to 2 schools, accepted academically and into the acting program in another, been accepted academically and waiting on auditions or results at 4 more. He did not pass prescreens at 2 others, and there are a few more who have accepted him academically, but that he would not choose over one of the ones he is already completely accepted at, so he has declined to audition for those. We visited one of the ones he was completely accepted at, and he LOVED it there! A lot depends on scholarships (which he has auditioned for, as well as filling out many applications). This checks off ALL of his want boxes except for one...location. It's in Wisconsin. Travel is not really the factor here, but the fact that there is no one he knows close by. He wants somewhere between the Boston and NYC areas, as we are on one end, and my brother is at the other, so there would always be family close by. His heart is currently set on a school in NY, and that decision is supposed to come out soon...so keep fingers crossed, and send good vibes! In the meantime, he was in "The Play that Goes Wrong" in the fall, and had a great time playing a comedic role. He is currently in rehearsals for Newsies as Davey, and is really excited for this! That performance is in March, and the weekend before that, he is auditioning for a June performance of Into the Woods. Then, in July, we are taking what may well be our last family vacation (for a while, anyway...) to Ireland! We're currently figuring out where we want to go, and what we want to see. Whew! That was a lot! Hope you are all doing well...I'd love to hear from you! Erin PS I did not get Christmas cards out this year, so don't go thinking I forgot about you!

Hello fellow Loungers, Happy St Patrick's day! I hope you are all having fun. Erin glad you are healing, I can't believe your son has graduated! I feel like I've known your kids since they were little, even though we've never met in person. NZ, hope all is well with you too. I was able to find Miss Charlotte on Facebook and refriended her so I was happy about that. I am enjoying retirement, still working on projects to try and declutter my house and get it in better shape. It's slow, but making a little progress. My sheepdog puppy Bobby just turned a year but still very much in the puppy stage, I will be able to get more done once he starts calming down a little. My little church in my town closed which was a great sadness for me. But have recently started going to another Methodist church in a neighboring town with some friends from my previous church, a very good thing for me. Sending love to all, hoping to be able to check in here a little more often. I still miss Duddahs!
