Yep... I wonder if it's a marathon today. I've watched two with the Darlin family and now another one is on... I"m not an Aunt Bea fan so I"m glad dinner is done and I can slip in here.

I watched a couple too. There was a commercial saying it's the 50th anniversary of the show and they're going to be having episodes all week. Yay!

Hey... that sounds good to me. I just love it when Andy gets Barney all riled up. He picks on him so good. ;D

All the ones from the first five years with Barney in it I have seen many times, although I still sometimes come across one of the color ones I haven't seen. I love to watch Andy-the actor's face when Don Knotts as Barney is getting riled up. I really think he's trying hard not to crack up on screen. And I once read where Floyd the barber had such a deadpan delivery that the cracked all the others up. They said there was one scene between Floyd, Andy and Barney. They had to do it over and over because Don Knotts and Andy Griffith kept bursting out laughing. Miss C-thank you for starting this thread!!!!!

Oh I used to watch the Carol Burnett show... some of the best episodes were when they could NOT keep a straight face. We all just cracked up laughing.. Those were the days. ;D
So it was only five years they made the AG show with Barney? When he left the show, it just was not the same.

Yes I agree, those Barney years were the best. My whole family loved Carol Burnett and we watched it every week. I remember when they used to crack up, especially when Tim Conway would always make Harvey Korman laugh so hard. I always get the biggest kick out of things like that.

Favorite AGS quote for the day: "Rule number one, obey all rules!"
Said by Barney Fife-but can't you just imagine Umbridge saying that to her students?

My favorite quote from Barney.. "Nip it in the bud!"
Here I have caught myself saying this several times over the last couple of weeks.. each time I wonder why I'm doing this suddenly? LOL
But you are right.. that does sound like something Umbridge would say. LOL!

I had forgotten that movie but I remember I did see it a long time ago-and I did like it too. Don Knotts was in one of my favorite movies Pleasantville-I think it was one of the last things he did. And I remember there was a reunion movie on tv where most of them came back, And Barney ended up marrying Thelma Lou-the way life should be! I have to go so I can walk my own Andy-back later.

They DID get married?! Woo Hoo! Go Barney! I think he was a fool to ever let her leave in the first place.
And I did forget that Don Knotts played in Pleasantville... with a very young Spiderman.

i actually saw no time for sergeants some years ago, it played on tv and i recorded it. it's truly a classic and very funny! i recorded it on DVD and left the tape (along with others) with my friends back home. i was so glad to find it again, and this version had scenes that didn't show on tv!!

I went to the Fryeburg Fair today, a big agricultural fair in my state that we try to attend every year. One of the first booths we went into had all kinds of metal signs. And the first signs we came to had all kinds of picture of "Fearless Fife." Made me think of this thread.

"Lots of times that's how a fella gets to be a hero, by being scared enough to do something brave." A great quote from today's AG episode that reminded me of HP!

Fangsfan... I've had you in my thoughts a lot this past week. I know how big of a fan you are of this show. Remember, Lincoln, Blinkin and Nodd? The birds Opie knocked out of the tree and felt bad about it... he then took care of them. Well, Last year a tiny bird (we think it was a finch) made a nest in our front porch light fixture that is attatched on the ceiling of our porch... (opposed to beside the door on the wall.) It made a nest there and had two babies. It was sad though, because the babies fell out of the nest and didn't make it. This year we noticed how protective the mama bird was over her babies. Then over the past two weeks she seemed to be working overtime bringing bugs, worms and food to her nest all day long. A couple of days ago, we found out that it was the mama and daddy bird doing the feeding over five babies. They would fuss at my cats through the window.... even taunt them by landing upon the screen where the cats can't get to them. Anyway, a couple of days ago, the babies started leaving the next. My hubby and daughter were outside when this happened. Those babies were huge! They really could not fly too well... then ended up going all over the front yard where they could get hurt. They caught each one then helped them to find cover in a nearby bush. Mama and daddy birds were no where around. We have not seen nor heard from them since. I wonder how many they will have next year? So... if we had Lincoln, Blinkin and a Nodd... I wonder what the other two were called? Too bad Opie is not around to give us a hint.

That is a great story Miss C! Yes I remember that episode well, it's called Opie The Birdman and was voted #1 of all time by the Andy Griffith Rerun watchers club. My favorite is still The Three Convicts (with Reta Shaw from South Paris, Maine as Big Maude!) but I love this episode as well.

My favorites have the Darling in them. I think that is there name.
Funny, because there is an sn over at the WB who likes to call herself Katie Darling. I think of two things whenever I see her post.... One l have a copy of Darby O'gill and the Little People. Sean Connery's character likes to refer to the girl as "Katie Darling." Next I think of the Darling family and how they liked to sit around with Andy and sing songs for fun. LOVE IT!

Andy Griffith quote of the day:
"Among people who love each other, like we do, nothing can be best for us, unless it's best for you." Andy to Aunt Bea.
