I have a fake stuffed Harry Potter doll made sometime before book 4 came out and Harry Potter was the phenomenon it became. The chain store I bought it from was selling the dolls cheap to clear them. The doll looks like Harry in a Muppet sort of way in a wizards robe with a lightning bolt on his chest. The doll is carrying a wand. The doll is called wizard boy.

Hey Rallem, That must have been a great find for a true potter fanatic like some of are.. The only stuffed animal type that I have is this Dragon (Norbert) sitting on top of a crate that says Set All Your Wishes Free.
Many many moons ago, way back in the late 1990's when J.J. was really heavily into Harry Potter, I bought him the Pillows, Pillow covers, sheets, bed spread and the curtains too! They are packed away safe and sound now. His room still has a few pieces of the memorabilia but now at the quarter century mark of his life and in Med School, he seems to have other things going on.. There are bunches of Ski Tags from his many trips down the slopes from all over the world. Pictures of him and my Dad with all of the cars that my dad has collected or still owns over the years.. Now there seems to be a large collection of Medical references building up in the corner of the room too.

I thought you used to have little stuffed animals you used during your tots days... Teaching on the ice. I seem to recall a castle maze you would draw on the ice and they had to do certain figures to get to the stuffed animal waiting for them. You once posted on a thread over at the WB about it in better words than I just did.

I seem to recall a castle maze you would draw on the ice and they had to do certain figures to get to the stuffed animal waiting for them. You once posted on a thread over at the WB about it in better words than I just did. Ah, yes Miss Charlotte, you do have a very good memory.. That is one of my trademark ways of teaching the Learn to Skate Tots and Moms program. If you remember, about a year ago, I had decided to cut back on teaching the very little ones due both to financial cut backs at one rink and my health causing me concern at the other Ice Box. Well, I gave a basket full of toys to the Rinks to use in their LTS program and I am very proud to say, though they do not draw on the ice the way I did, they do use the stuffed animals as well as the Soap Bubble wands that I used.. I had several of those large bubble wands, some that make bubbles that are 3 feet across and several others that can make hundreds of bubbles with one pass of the wand.... The 2 and 3 year olds absolutely love racing to chase them down before they touch the ice. Once in a blue moon one of those large bubbles would settle on the ice surface and not pop for a very long period of time.. We would count to see how long it would take to go... Good Job though Miss Charlotte and thanks so much for bringing back to mind that wonderful memory of the little ones... I do miss them so. The youngest I teach now is 6 1/2 and her cousin who is 9. The rest of my students are in the early to mid teens, a few high school aged and several Adults. We will see how long I last on the Ice all together though.. Seems retirement is just a knock on the door away.

Soap bubble wands? I bought a magic wand a few years back with a holder which makes the wand levitate. I would maybe like to buy another wand in the future. the wand I bought has a natural blondish finish and I would like a darker wand I think. I started makeing my own wand as well a few years back out of maple. My Sears grinder died on me though so it never got done. Perhaps I should get myself a proper drummel set and finish the job.

I was talking with my neighbor who is a big Potter fan. She actually has the same name as a major character but I won't say who so as not to break rules. She said the Bertie Bott's beans you buy-the bad flavors actually really taste yucky. I never knew that, just figured they would have the funny names but they'd make them all taste good. She said they taste yucky but it's fun trying them!

Interesting story Fangsfan. I always though the bad ones would still taste good.
Since this is my first time posting here, I'd thought I'd post a few of my collectibles of Harry Potter that I have:
-Harry Potter Book Series, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages - Collector's Edition of Tales of Beetle the Bard. The book is brown and has a silver skull in the middle of the cover, with silver metal pieces on the corners. It also has a special case that looks like a big book. - Collection Prints of the images in Tales of Beetle the Bard, a few of them with JRK's signature printed on them. - Special Editions of the films on DVD - Wizarding Chess set - 3 Harry Potter Coins
Now those coins, I wanted to ask you guys a question on them. Does anyone else have these coins? They are a bit bigger than a quarter and are silver. They each have the Harry Potter Logo with Golden Snitch on side. The first one has an entrance sign to Diagon Alley on it, the second one had Draco Malfoy on it, and the last one has a unicorn on it.
They look exactly like coins, but replace the pictures of people and animals with the things listed above.

I haven't seen those coins. They sound neat! I found this set on e-bay, and would love to have it. They are a mini set of the 7 books. They have the little dust jackets which are complete with the pictures and words from the real ones, and (blank) pages inside. The bookends are cat shaped. Love how they put the dime to show the size comparison. i55.TP .com/kamqfa.jpg[/img] I would love to have them, but just can't see spending the $30 on something like that when we have bills to pay! ...plus that fact that I just bought that hardcover set (which I can justify since I will acutally USE them! OK, I have officially had my interest peeked. I really would like to own that miniature set of books. Do they have text inside or just plain blank pages? Does it say one way or the other?

Ok Erin and everyone else I need some advice about that great looking mine set of HP Books.
Now I am have a dilemma..
I went to go and bid on the set and then after reading about the items, I realized that they are not by Scholastic or any of the recognized trademark owners such as the WB Bloomsbury etc of the series.
See, I am not sure that if I bid on this item and it turns out to be a copyright infringed item if Ebay could potentially go after my sellers account with ebay. We sell thousands of dollars normally each month on ebay and we just opened an ebay store in addition to our long established Internet Antiques Shop on Trocadero and Just Glass.coms respectively.
So, what do you folks think, since it appears that the cover art has been copied and altered in size but probably being sold without Scholastic s knowledge, should I buy or pass?
I will go with what ever the consensus here is. Maybe I am being just a bit gun shy re; copyright infringements but then again, I am the other half of one of the country;s biggest contract attorneys. I know what she would say if I asked her so, this is between us. Not a word to Jenn.

Honestly, I would buy that tiny set in a second. It's really right up my alley on things I have always loved my whole life long... the teeny tiny things. That set is just adorable. Duddah... The only advice I would tell you is to follow what you feel is right. I personally would not think there is anything wrong with owning this set. So MY own gut feeling would not feel compromised by me doing so. BUT if you are one who feels like things like this is wrong, then you go ahead and purchase this set. At first you will love them, but then later on you won't really get any true enjoyment out of owning it, knowing in the back of your mind that this is wrong. See, I for one don't agree with some of these limits on the copywrite laws. For instance, it's against the law for any of us to even write any fanfiction just because we are using the characters that JKR thought up. Yep, the WB almost was in trouble at one time for allowing a fanfiction section. JKR see's this as an infringement on her rights to OWN her characters. (I personally believe she killed off so many of her characters needlessly, to keep some other person from being able to add onto her work at some point in the future... even after she dies where she won't be alive to object.) Anyway, I don't remember if this went to court, but eventually all was reluctantly dropped, allowing the WB to keep that section. I think that was when the WB added that ANYTHING WE post there is from that day forward theirs, since the WB has some legal rights to theHarry Potter name etc. Yep! ANYTHING we have ever posted there, now belongs to them... not us. It's even against the law for us to paint pictures of these characters. Remember LilyHBP? I really feel bad for her and how her deep love for the Harry Potter series, then to be told her actions of painting Snape and Lily are illegal. I love her dearly, and feel so badly that she was told she's breaking law. It ate her up inside. The only way around it was to paint the picture but not call it by the characters name. Good grief. As if we don't know who these characters are when we see the artwork. I know for one, I'd allow her to have her own art thread here if she wanted... but I believe since she paints at DivianArt website, they have something similar... the copywrites to what all are posted there.... or something like that. Still, I think she should be allowed to post her artwork ANYWHERE she likes. Oh if I could get Lilyhbp and my other friend Memnosyne to post their work here.... I'd think it would be a true honor. Memn actually once won a contest over at the Leaky. First place and I believe she had title artist of the month. She's superb. To me, they both are. But just in THIS case, I would try to put myself in their shoes.. the people who own the rights to the book cover art. I would see it as a form of flattery to have these made into miniatures. Then if it's second hand, I think there is another line to think about... I mean, how many times have I gone into a second hand book store OR yard sale, OR flea market and found a copy of one of the used HP books for sale? Many times, I can tell you that. Still, by reselling those copy writed books, are THEY breaking the law? I say go with your own sense of morality. How do you think you will feel about yourself later if you go ahead and buy a set like this? Another question? Are they selling this set in bulk? In mass production trying to make a buck? Or is this a one time deal?
