What if Horace Slughorn had not given information to Tom Riddle, do you believe that Tom would have just found another way to secure the information he sought re: Horcrux?

You know, I wondered about this years ago, when I first finished that book. I think he already had the information about the Horcrux, and even the details on which he could make one. I think he was only fishing around to see if Slughorn's ever heard of anyone making more than one. Or what Slughorn thought if it were possible to make many. Still... if Voldemort didn't procure his info from Slughorn... I wonder too if he would have gone ahead and attempted it on his own anyway. We know at that time he already had killed Myrtle and his uncle Morfin... hmm? Or I think he did. I still think he would have gone ahead and tried making the second tear in his soul anyway, with or without Slughorn's opinion/information. I see Voldemort as being someone who would not have stayed his hand for long. ..... Recently, in conversation, I was comparing Voldemort with another bad guy in another universe... yep, I always keep to my Potter roots. JKR was adamant in interviews saying the whole thing with Voldemort that truly brought him down was love. He never knew it. He never had it. He never understood it... not real love, so he underestimated it. This was what made his particular character have a HUGE weakness. Other bad guys in other universe stories often do have that to fall back on... either it be a parent or two... perhaps a sibling that will never give up on that near lost soul. I remember many years ago, one of my first "what if" posts, I wrote "what if Voldemort had a twin?" So, this time I'll just say a brother or sister to grow up with his whole life and not a twin. Say... and older brother. Not someone younger, because then he could dominate over that sibling like many older children tend to do in many families in the world. Someone he could look up to. Someone who he could start his life out with, who could looking after him from the very beginning. I mean, I was watching the news the other day and there was a family of three children looking to be adopted because they lost their parents... So many siblings are kept together in orphanages if possible... why not wonder what this would have been like, or if it would have made a difference in Tom Riddle's life if he had an older sibling looking out after him from the get go?

Oh Miss Charlotte, what a horrific thought of the poor sibling that Voldemort may have bestowed his hideousness upon...
Shudders...
Looses a feather...
Shudders again.

Oh Miss Charlotte, what a horrific thought of the poor sibling that Voldemort may have bestowed his hideousness upon... Shudders... Looses a feather... Shudders again. Really? I think most of Voldemort's evilness was genetic. It certainly was not something learned. None of the other orphans turned out like him. Then look at how JKR created his own muggle father not to mention all of his mother's side of the family. He didn't know them at all, still magnified all that they believed or stood for to a maximum level. So with that thought... if he had a biological sibling, would they have bonded or would they have clashed one with the other? We know Tom Riddle killed all of his relatives because they turned their backs on him... so to speak. But with a sibling sleeping by his side from day one... what would that do to change how HE turned out?

What if Snape had not been able to find Harry in the Forest Dean.. How else do you believe he would have gotten the sword to Harry and how do you believe Ron would have redeemed himself?

Yeah, I always thought it was a stretch but a good one to have him use the portrait like that as a spy.
What if.... Filch always had magic?

It is very possible that Filch did actually have magic but was never capable of tapping into it in the way that Neville believed he was not magical for a long period of time.. Then he turned out to be full of it!

Neville's problem was that he had no confidence in himself to pull off any magic. I think he was scared to in fact. Don't know for certain.

What if the snow and weather was so severe that the students who normally go home during the Christmas vacation were weathered in?

Would that be possible to be weathered in like that? Hmm? I had in my mind that the students could all line up by a Ministry approved and opened fireplace to floo home for Christmas. However, we know from the Dursley's that flooing in with a blocked fireplace can be a problem in it's self. I have a fake fireplace and never lived in a home with a real one. Can a fireplace be frozen over, or blocked with too much snow to where the weather makes it unpassible? I too, could see walking to Hogsmeade for the parents to go pick up their children by apparating there then back home with their kids, could still be a problem if the snow's too deep that the kids can't get to the town from school. I guess they would stay at school during that time.

What if,
What if the Yule Ball fell every year, do you believe the Weasley's would have purchased Ron a new Dress Robe?

Duddahs I just came home to the end of a Hallmark Christmas movie where a whole town chips in to help a family in need. So of course when I read your post I pictured the twins,Harry,Hermione, Bill, and all the rest chipping in to get Ron new robes!

Funny, because I always felt bad for Ron having to wear that. I always imagined if I were another staff member there, I would pull him aside and ask if he wanted any last minute help. I mean, I know how to sew and would know how to take off some of those ruffles in an instant if I had a wand. LOL.

What if Cedric Diggory had not asked Cho Chang to the Yule Ball?
Do you believe things would have turned out differently?

What if....
Right now, I have the Hobbit movie so strongly in my mind. I LOVED Smaug even in the book. He's the coolest dragon ever. I was telling someone the other day how when I watched the movie I got the distinct impression how he seems so full of himself. I loved how this dragon can talk and is very very intelligent. So, this brings me back to my roots... What if the dragons in the Harry Potter universe were just as brilliant as Smaug? I wish they could talk that would have been more challenging for the Triward tournament task.

I love that thought-it would be wonderful if she survived and could grow old living with Harry and Ginny.

What if Neville's parent had regained their wits about them once Voldemort was finally destroyed once and for all?

This is one of my fondest hopes. And I think with all the brilliant healers at St Mungo's they should eventually have been able to come up with a cure for this as well.

What if Merope had named Tom Gault instead of Riddle? Do you believe he would have still have grown up with the same identity crisis?
