What if when the trio was in the forest, they summoned Kreacher and all three stood with their wands at the ready to stun Yaxley if he tagged along? They could wipe Yaxley's memory, leave him in the woods and move on. At the very least they would have put a major deatheater out of commission for a while and they would have Kreacher to help them.

What If"
When Harry was in the Chamber in PS/SS and was confronted by Quirrell and Voldemort had Harry not reached out to touch them?

What If, Albus Dumbledore had not agreed to be killed by Snape? Who do you believe would have killed him or do you think he would have defeated all those that came to the Astronomy tower?

what i was thinking about the last time I saw DH2... What if Draco never did disarm Dumbledore? That would have an entierly different meaning for ALL of the DH book.
harry's escape from the dursleys'
snape being killed by voldemort. would that have been seen as necessary?
then if harry did survive from the beginning of the book to the end... would he have defeated harry in the woods? or at the castle?
SO much more to think about.

What if Harry did not have a piece of Voldemort's soul in him when he was sorted-would the Sorting Hat still consider putting him in Slytherin?

I'd think since the school is magical, that it would magically grow another room to fit them all in.
My daughter wants me to add this one here...
What if...
Voldemort and Bellatrix had kids?

That could actually make a book 8-if Bella had given birth before she died and hidden the child somewhere. Then when the child grew up, he/she would follow in LV's footsteps and it would start all over again.

Wow... Did I miss this post or what? ;D Well, I have to say that I was not too surprised when JKR outed Dumbledore. Initially, I remember how I believed that McGonagall and Dumbledore might have had a thing going, then later when she continued to describe his attire and mannerism, he became quickly and apparent as being gay to me. See for me, I never once got the gay wind from her description of him. I know there are lots of men who have finesse. Magic flows from him so freely that it comes easy for him. After all he's a very powerful wizard for his time. I always thought magic was easy for him... little effort. Like my little brother never needed to study.. not one bit because his brains saw all that he was taught and then a few steps beyond what the teacher had not gotten to. It came natural to him. I saw that it was the same for Dumbledore. Then for the grace.. I can think of many men who are lovers of women who are full of grace in their movemoent, so from that part of his description... I never got the idea that he was gay. I was definately one who was in shock over this detail. I think because I have all of this back story that I wanted to fill in some day when I WILL get to my fanfic about his life's story. After I read the last book I was so shocked again that I was very close on how I had things figured out in my head.. EXCEPT the woman I had in MY mind... the woman in his life... the woman who I saw in my mind had died and he never got over to the day he died was not his sister, but his one true love. Something like Snape's love for Lily... but of course I didn't see Albus being dumped for making a bad choice in life. I certainly never thought he'd have dabbled in the dark arts... and so I was shocked that te reason he was alone was over the loss of his true love... Grindelwauld.. I had was the loss of the woman I had in mind for him. I hope I didn't lose anyone. I often talk in circles. I'm with you there one hundred percent! He was head over heals obsessed in love with James. This was no "just friends" from Sirius' side of things. I mean, would James have pined away in prison for about thirteen years if he thought that he was to blame for Sirius being killed? Nope. I don't think he would even if it was Lily who died and if he survived. I just don't think James had that in him... but really who's to say? JKR never really let us know much about him after he grew up and stopped being such a pain. Sirius was just way out there. Very extremely obvious as far as I'm concerned. Ya lost me duddahs.

What IF, Harry had not been good at flying a broom after-all? It would be interesting to see how he handled the first task of the triwizard without his flying skills-wonder what the fake Madeye would come up with?

What if Draco died in the fire-what would Harry have said when Narcissa checked to see if he was dead and asked if Draco was still alive? Would he tell the truth?
And to take it further-what if he did tell the truth and whispered that Draco had died-would Narcissa have still lied to LV and said Harry was dead?

What if Filch actually had learned how to perform magic from his correspondence courses? This was something I thought might actually happen. Remember when JKR said someone in book 7 would do magic late in life-I was fascinated by that idea. I figured it might be Filch and he would learn from the Kwikspell and do magic. And then I kept wondering whether he would use it to help the good side or the bad side.
