What if Dobby hadn't been there at Malfoy Manor? At what point in time NZ? At what time are you referring to?

What if Snape was an unregistered animagus and was the fox Bellatrix killed in the beginning of HBP? Dumbledore would have lost his most valuable ally. But what would have happened to Bellatrix for killing one of LV's most trusted followers?

Maybe they would have decided to try it eventually, although I doubt that they would think of the place...
What if the flying car didn't work when Fred, George, and Ron came to rescue Harry?

Now I mean this totally and state it LOUD AND CLEAR... oh and I've said this several times over at the WB as well...
What IF.... JKR had been watching OUR POSTS... OUR THREADS over at the WB's book series boards back when she was still writing the books? I mean this, there were things we posted over there that I had not seen on other Harry Potter sites even being discussed and turned out to be in the book. Then after a while we... well some of us became a bit too cocky and started fussing too loudly about JKR and some of her other ideas. Sometimes I think I should have been gagged for being too outspoken over there... more times than not. Then I noticed the WB seemed to not be on the favorites list when things were being done. Maybe I'm just too big headed tp even consider she might have been one of our silent lurkers, but I really do think there was a time things were too in sync then suddenly after we got to mouthy I noticed a change.
Oh goodness... I've got ten minutes to be across town. I'll try to elaborate more later.

Miss Charlotte I've wondered that too-if she ever read them. I did read once where she said she went into a Harry Potter chat room (anonymously) and they were rude and said she obviously didn't know much about Harry Potter! I do think the WB and this site have more actual discussion about the books then any of the other HP sites I've looked in on. I never felt you were too outspoken though, I just thought you said what ou didn't like or would change as well as what you loved. That's one thing I enjoy, is being able to be honest if you don't like something without having everyone get angry-I find even in my all time favorite books there's usually something I'd like to change. That's not to say I'm right about it, but I think all readers bring their own experiences and opinions to the books-so everyone is going to have different likes and dislikes.

Yeah... thanks.
Along those lines, I'll say that in the past over at the WB I had been outspoken against this or that... too many times to be honest. But the one I do hold on to is how JKR did NOT put in the book series that Albus was gay but openly said she thought it was obvious. I think Sirius Black seemed more gay than Albus did. Now I'm not against gay people.. so this is NOT what I'm on about. To me, instead of stating this info in an interview why not have him state it in the books? I to this day will read the whole series and see Grindelwauld as being nothing more than a serious friend the way that she REALLY has the friendship for Sirius and James. It's like she has these two couples reversed and I'm left scratching my head.
SO to keep along with the lines of this thread... WHat IF... Sirius's obsession with James Potter was more to it than meets the eye? Much deeper than just a "friend?" OR was that another relationship that was supposed to be obvious and no one has yet to bring it up to her in an interview for her to confirm to being a no brainer? ;D
You know.... I"m being sneaky here.... I think I'm gonna bring this one up over at the WB's sister thread... just to see the Sirius Black followers comment. You know... give em a little poke! ;D

Well, I have to say that I was not too surprised when JKR outed Dumbledore. Initially, I remember how I believed that McGonagall and Dumbledore might have had a thing going, then later when she continued to describe his attire and mannerism, he became quickly and apparent as being gay to me.
Sirius, I have always felt was also gay. His love for James is obvious, his passion for him never left him even after James was killed by Voldemort. Even if they never acted upon this, it is there on the pages for one and all to read. It is part of life. Some fall in love with someone who will never be theirs but in their own mind. It just is life and much of the Harry Potter books is about just life, with all its warts and triumphs and all.
Now let us not get onto poor Professor Sprout.. She does love her jeans and the indigo girls too!

What if Snape married Lily instead of James?

uh nz..... What a thought... Snape marrying James. Honestly.... I am so surprised that you asked this, because in one of my comments about the film, I address this very question. My daughter does not ask too many questions about the people until she sees the films. Well, this time, I had to fill in some background on Snape and Lily that she did nto know. She asked me if Snape did not mess up at school and chose the right... if he and Lily did end up getting married would he have been a nicer person? She wondered if he would have been a nicer person out of all of that background I filled in from my knowledge in the books and what she saw up on the screen. WOW. I honestly believe he might have been. I don't think he would have been a Deatheater if she took him back... if she forgave him and not given up hope for him. Still, the question is, did she love Snape? No... I don't think she loved him in that sort of way.. best friends yes... still, your question is not if Lily loved Snape, but what if she married him. I do think he would have been better for it. She seemed like she had a type of goodness within her that rubbed off on some people. I think I agree with Dumbledore... Snape was very brave and so I think if he was sorted into Gryffindor he would never have been so influenced by the older gang of slytherins... Mulciber etc. If he was in Gryffindor, he would have not been so easily swayed to the bad side, and with Lily towards the good. Really, I think he truly walked the line and that might have been why Lily held out hope for him for so long. You will see the post soon that I have already typed up, but really most of it is already said here and more really. good question nz.
