This is the One Million for the Deathly Hallows Winter Post Spree "Speed" thread. For more about it, here is my original post about the post spree"

Ok here we go...

Welcome one, welcome all to the 2013 One Million for the Deathly Hallows Winter Post Spree, which will be taking place from December 11th to the 18th. The rules are simple, get as many posts as we possibly can within this week. This time 'round though, we have some new features to our post spree. Firstly, being winter, the unofficial theme for this post spree is "winter in the Harry Potter world, or even winter in general". Please do not let this theme limit you however, if a discussion seems to be straying away from the topic, just go with it. I don't want this theme to hinder any discussions at all.

Speaking of discussions, we will be having two threads set up for the posting spree, the "discussion" thread and another "speed" thread. In the "speed" thread, which will be a new thread made, you can post quick posts about anything, whether it be certain questions that I, or anyone else, wants to talk about, or even just a friendly post towards the count. These are just posts without much discussion.

The main One Million thread will be the "discussion" thread. Here we can talk about topics more in depth and, well, basically have a discussion about said topics, much like what we already anyways.

One important thing I want to stress is that this is all unofficial. I certainly won't be mad if no one follows the rules. We'll just go with it and see how it goes

Ok, so my first question to you all is:

What is your favourite part about Winter in the Wizarding World?

It can be scenes, ideas, traditions, or anything.

My favourite is one scene in particular:

It's from PS/SS (I think) and it's the first snowfall of Hogwarts, specifically when Hagrid is seen dragging the large Christmas tree through the courtyard and into the school. I just love that scene and it puts me in the Christmas mood every time I watch it.

Hermione's blue fire-a way to stay warm so you can enjoy the out of doors.

Weasley sweaters knitted by Molly herself, I have always wanted one and still do.

I loved the idea of the Hogwarts ghosts flying around singing carols, I think this was a scene from the first movie.

The ice sculptures-I think this was at Beuxbatons not Hogwarts, but I like that FLeur was able to come and visit and share this custom with them.

The fact that they had snowball fights-a tradition that Muggles and wizards can both enjoy.

In keeping with the previous post, there's a scene where Ron yells out the window that he's a prefect and to stop throwing snowballs, then gets hit by a snowball which turns out to be thrown by Fred and George. It always makes me smile.

Going to Hogsmeade, especially to see the decorated shops. It's fun any time of year but I'd love to go in winter.

Lupin's chocolate that makes you feel warm outside, the cold winter weather is a good excuse to eat more of it.

As soon as I signed off last night I thought of this. Anybody who lives in an area with snow knows how beautiful it is in the woods after a snowfall. Imagine being able to walk through the Forbidden Forest after a frest snowfall, how I would love that.

I love how Hogsmeade looks in the winter with the snowy rooftops and all. It's magical on it's own level. It looks exactly like a Christmas card, as JKR says.

I don't know if any of you have noticed this, but apparently it is always snowing in Hogsmeade. In all of the scenes we see of it in the films, Hogsmeade is always depicted as snow-covered, even when there's no snow at Hogwarts.

I know exactly what you mean Fangsfan. Sometimes you get those snowfalls where the snow just seems to stick to the trees. It looks so nice on normal trees, so I can only imagine what it would look like on the trees in the Forbidden Forest
