I'm a few episodes into season 1 now and I am enjoying it so far. I really like this storyline and I've always liked the Medieval/Middle Ages time period in history. Looks like I'll be watching a few more now!

Hope you're still enjoying it. I just started on my fourth rereading on the books! I don't know if I've mentioned it before but for anyone really interested there's a great website called Westeros.org that has all kinds of discussions of the books and lots on the show too. I think are friend Phoenix who used to post here and on WB may be a member as well.

Yes, still enjoying it Fangsfan, i'm halfway through the fourth season. The books sounds like a fun read. I bet there's loads of stuff in the books that isn't in the tv series (sort've like HP)

I think the first season was the worst for that... Erin

I guess HBO definitely put their spin on it then. What I like about the series too is that the author of the books (George R. R. Martin?) is still writing the series. So even though the books might foreshadow some stuff, the bigger picture is still up to him!

I remember when they weren't going to have Kreacher in the films and JKR had to tell them he was important to the end story. I have mentioned the Westeros.org website-there's a thread out now asking if people have ever been as enthusiastic over any other books as they are over Game of Thrones. Many, many people are mentioning the HP books.

In the middle of watching the recent season on Netflix DVD's.
They are really milking this one by putting only 2 episodes on each disk. A real pain under Duddahs tail feathers.

OH Duddahs! Just over a month ago, my hubby and daughter went to visit his sister in Utah for a week. During that week I decided to brave HBO's version of this show. So, I rented LAST season and had it done in one weekend. (well, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) WOW! I couldn't stop. I just clicked for the next episode to show until I had no more left. I think they had a free preview weekend where I got to see THIS season's first episode. So, for me, I'm pretty much going to be a year behind the next time I can catch up. Two a pop would be hard to wait, just until the next shipment. Yes, still enjoying it Fangsfan, i'm halfway through the fourth season. The books sounds like a fun read. I bet there's loads of stuff in the books that isn't in the tv series (sort've like HP) Yes, and HBO embellished all the rated X stuff like crazy!!! Some scenes are totally made up! I think the first season was the worst for that... Erin Well, this is good to know Erin. Thanks. I also wondered about this especially when I watched HOW they killed off that guy in the arena fight last season. I had my hands in front of my face the whole time and didn't peek once. Later, I saw a special cast show, where they spotlighted and interviewed several of the cast members who was killed off. They mentioned something during that interview that his had to be the most horrible death so far for the show. I wondered since he didn't see it coming if it was more HBO than the author.

It's been a couple of years since I last read it, but I think the basic details of that fight were the same...

Duddahs watched the episode with the hand to hand battle which would determine the dwarfs life or death.
Is this the scene the two of you have been discussing? If so, it was GROSS!

I watched another DVD last weekend and I was thinking that so many people were being killed off etc that it must be close to the final episode of the season.
Sure enough Netflix sent something different so I checked the Que and it was the last for the year.
Way to go cliff hangers!

Sighs.
Yep.
Does anyone know how many episodes have been shown this season so far? I watched the first episode... Maybe two. Can't recall. ANyway, we messed up our DISH network and went to cable. Didn't have DISH of two weeks before we went back to them yesterday. They have a deal that HBO is now 10 a month forever, so we got it. So, I"m about to jump in with episode 51 being the next one to watch. (Friday nights) How many have I missed so far?

Oh I did, and with a very rare sleepless night, the day before yesterday I started a marathon. I thought I'd only watch about two before my family came home, but ended up watching the whole season.
HEY.... AM I THE LAST PERSON HERE WHO KEEPS UP WITH THIS SHOW? I really want to comment on what I see, but don't want to post any spoilers for anyone who might be catching up behind me.
I know I have seen all of the shows, but read little of the books so I know the rest of you know more than I do... or at least I think so.
.... spoiler warning below!
OK.... I will say that years ago, I realized this show kills off many of their main people so this leaves us with a huge surprise we don't really see happening until we see it. I hated this in the beginning. It made me mad, which is good because every good story is supposed to evoke a strong emotional response. Saying that, I decided a couple of seasons back that there are TWO people above all other characters I thought would be great to fight together at the end of the series. The Dragon Girl (I can't spell her name) and Jon Snow. My theory was that together they could be a proper foe for the Whitewalkers. Then during this season, I thought I was seeing this being even more stronger thing to happen. She could use her dragons to breathe fire onto the sand to make dragon glass. I saw the two as being polar opposites "fire and ice" and since they are located in opposite ends of the map, they would meet later in the series as the winter spreads over the lands.
I really can't stand the guy Sansa is married to. He really turns my stomach. Sadly, I have a hard time deciding who was worse, that guy or The Lannister's oldest son.
Have I missed something? I can't recall what's happened to our Tonks? Was she killed or taken prisoner way back when?
I am glad to see the Dragon girl and her newest friend, Tyrion. I think he'll be great with her. He'll take care of things perfectly while she's away. Really, I think he could ground her. I also like the idea that in a way she's going back to her roots. Yes, unintentionally, but none the less, I think it will turn out good for her. To me, it seems as if she's been stuck in that kingdom that she forgot that she's on a trek to Kings Landing. I can't wait for her to resume her journey.

Miss C. I have read the books, but from this point on, anything goes....they're beginning to go beyond the books he has written so far, and they are changing things up...which I think works for the screen. In the books, Sansa stayed at her Aunts place...and that's where we left her at the end of book 5. In the books, it was Jayne Pool, a friend of the Stark girl's, who is forced to pretend she is Arya, and marry Bolton. Jon Snow's fate in the books was much the same, but there was doubt as to whether he was dead...and don't forget, the Red Lady is there...she can bring him back to life... Also what you don't know."in the books, Katelyn .stark is not dead...she is much changed....but not dead. I think she is truly gone on the show, though. Erin
