Well... obviously there is a strong theme of quills... We have named several.. But I am wondering if we might be putting the answers into the wrong question?

Still... This one sticks out from the crowd... A quill has no gender but the giver does.

This sounds like the Triwizard Tournament's contestants... The Durmstrang and the Beaubaton students... then the near would be Hogwarts contestants.

Is it possible this is the Goblet of Fire itself? It wasn't used for a long time because of deaths in the tournament-and the one too many could be Harry-the extra champion in the tournament.
