1. Immense in size, with walls of gold, a good 20 minute walk to me with a lantern aloft I am told. It sounds like the huge stadium with gold walls where the held the Quidditch World Cup. I had forgotten all about this, had to look it up. Congratulations Fangsfan1, you are correct. It is the Stadium at the Quidditch World Cup.

2. Purple and gilded my appointments shall be. Now if you get a nosebleed, do not go round blaming me.
Yes I too had to look this one up. I"m in serious need to reread the books. I love the color purple and most of the time when it comes to Harry Potter I have two things come to mind.. One is definitely Albus Dumbledore.. the other far from it is Uncle Vernon.
BUT I did look it up and found how it's all throughout the World cup.
The answer to this riddle has to be the 20 some odd stadium seats up in the top box. They stood in two rows. Then the nosebleed comment has to do with it being so high.

Knight Bus? That is a good one.. The only thing that was stuck in my mind for this one was nosebleed nougat like you said. If one of us is correct, this means a new set of riddle for the weekend. Cool!

I just figured out this could be Tom Riddle Sr. He was handsome but could be very rude. And when he found out Merope had bewitched him he did abandon two people-Merope and baby Tom.

For some reason I get the feeling of the Orphanage where Tom Riddle grew up. So the person would be a young Tom Riddle.
