You know... it's funny how so much happens all at once for the trio... then there are long periods where they are just sitting there waiting or trying to connect the dots to know what to do next.. When it happens, it happens.

1998 - just after their escape from Gringott's. The trio apperate to Hogsmeade in hopes of getting into Hogwarts. They are immediately greeted by a caterwauling charm, alerting the death eaters to a disturbance, which they assume is Harry. When dementors close in, Harry is forced to chase them off with his patronus. A voice calls them in to safety, and Aberforth Dumbledore argues with the death eaters, convincing them that it was his own patronus they saw.
In conversation with Aberforth, the trio learn the true story of Ariana's death.

1998 - same day...after Neville shows up, the trio follow him down a passageway that leads them to the room of requirement. They learn that Neville has got the hang of making the room all it needs to be for those who need to be hidden from the school staff. The Carrows, a brother/sister team, have taken to punishing students severely, even having students practice the cruciatus curse on others. Neville and the others bear marks of punishment.
Harry asks to be taken to the Ravencclaw common room, so he can see what the diadem looks like. Ginny makes sure it is Luna who takes him up there, and not Cho.

It definately feels like last year to me. That was the year I gave birth. Now it's today and she's all grown up... well, almost. Where did the time go?
Sometimes with this timeline I have a hard time picturing the people who plays the main characters... what would they look like THIS year 2012? It's just wierd.

Last week of July, 1991 - Harry begins getting letters, but is unable to read any, since Uncle Vernon keeps preventing him from seeing them. Lots of owls are always nearby as well. Harry is surprised to be given Dudley's second bedroom, but would rather see one of his letters. Uncle Vernon goes slightly insane, packing the family and Harry into the car, and driving every which way to get away from the letters. Finally, they arrive at a hut on a rock surrounded by churning water, and Harry attempts to sleep on the hard dirt floor, with a thin blanket that doesn't do much good against the cold howling wind from the storm outside.

July 31, 1991 - at midnight, just as Harry's birthday arrives, a giant bangs down the door of hut on the rock, and informs Harry that he is a wizard. After a bit more sleep, Hagrid takes Harry to diagon alley, where everyone seems to know who he is. He gets all his supplies for school, and his first real birthday present...a beautiful snowy owl. Hagrid also gives him a train ticket to get to school...which departs from platform 9 3/4.

August 1, 1992 - the day after Dobby visits Harry to warn him not to come to Hogwarts, and Harry gets blamed for using magic to levitate the dessert Aunt Petunia had made for the Mason's visit (losing Vernon his client in the process), Uncle Vernon puts bars on Harry's window.

Beginning of August, 1995 - before Harry's 5th year. A confusing day for Harry. First, there's nothing on the news, and no real news from his friends. Then, a loud popping sound like someone apperating or disapperating. Then dementors show up in Little Whinging, attacking Harry and his cousin, Dudley. His old cat-lady neighbor knows he is a wizard, and is keeping an eye on him for Dumbledore. Next, Harry is expelled from Hogwarts for using magic (to repel the dementors), and then that decision is taken back, and Harry is called to a hearing at the Ministry of Magic. After that, his Aunt Petunia lets it slip that she knows a bit about the wizarding world. Sirius sends an owl (one of several who have shown up that night), and Harry feels like he's being reprimanded. Finally, his Aunt receives a howler from a mystery person, and his aunt says he must stay with them, even though a minute before, he was getting kicked out. Harry goes to bed not knowing what the heck is going on, and feeling that those who know are keeping him in the dark.

Beginning of August, 1992 - Fred, George and Ron arrive at Harry's barred window, in an enchanted Ford Anglia. They tear the bars off, help Harry break in to the cupboard under the stairs to get his books, and gather his things. They nearly forget Hedwig, who lets out a loud squawk, waking up Uncle Vernon, who tries to stop Harry from leaving.
They arrive at the Burrow, but not without Molly Weasley catching the boys coming in. She is livid with her own sons, but happy that Harry is safe. Arthur Weasley is fascinated that the boys flew in his car, and Harry is fascinated with all the magic in the home. Ginny is speechless around Harry.
