blerrrgh, the one thing i hate about fall is the winter to follow. days are shorter, temps are colder and as i live in a rain forest, it's the rainy season and it goes for months!! summertime is my favourite season. today, went for a walk, then a friend came over to jam and visit i will be off soon, going to curl up with a pillow and a blanket and watch a DVD. i will have an early night, i want to get an early start on working on songs and a few other things before i have to work. hope you lot had a good weekend!!

There is a rain forest up there? I thought those were only in South America? Wow... It's always good to learn new things each day. ;D Honestly... I LOVE the rain.. I seriously thought about moving from central Arkansas all the way up to Seattle Washington, just for the rain. Hubby learned something the other day... Don't mow your lawn first thing in the morning after a long wet spell.. The grass was still very wet when he chopped it down. Then later that day, out came the scorching hot sun... burnt up our lawn to a crisp. Now we have a brown yard. Well... it will be back next spring. I am SOOO ready for autumn to get here to stay. Our temps are supposed to be going back up this weekend, when I thought we were finally finished with summer. Here is something else new to learn... I found this post on another thread... and thought it interesting what I learned about those lurking guests.... Wow, 15 other guests here when I came on-hi everybody! Buckbeak, good one, I never thought of him. And the bowtruckle too. These quizzes are challenging because they make me remember stuff I ahd forgotten-a good memory jogger. OH Fangsfan... and to anyone else who might wonder. Whenever you see the numbers of people who are lurking but not signed in... Often it's not real people. Ok that didn't come out right. ;D It's something called "Googlebots." As you might notice, there at the bottom of the site is a Google search link. Well.. I'm guessing they have some sort of deal with the Proboard sites.. because they have an internet program installed on Proboard sites where they send out "bots" that pick up on certain words WE each use, when we post. This helps them to determine the types of advertisements to put up top of the site.. to make it more geared to the likes of each sites members. I remember once talking a lot about seafood and even about Red Lobster.. then for a couple of weeks we kept seeing lots of Red Lobster ads up top. Yep... they picked up on our conversation. I wonder if the reason I keep seeing a lot of college adds... is because we keep talking about schools teachers and classes? So we might have had some nonmembers lurking along with some GoogleBots looking over our site as well... Food for thought up here at the Head Table.

Wow Miss Charlotte that is so interesting,, I had no idea about that. But you know we talk a lot about pets and when I was on last night there was an advertisement about dogs on there that I noticed! Thanks for telling about this, I never in a million years would have thought of that. I haven't been able to be on much today because we are trying to sell my Aunt's house and I was waiting for a phone call from the real estate agency. My internet is dial up so it ties up my phone if I'm on. Just stealing a few minutes before work to peek in an wish everyone a great day.

It's always good to learn new things each day. ;D nope, the BC coastline area is rain forest. just not tropical trees and plants, but it's the warmest area in canada for winter and there's a lot of rain for several months. fangsfan, good luck with the house eeww, i use to have dialup, it was brutal. i have high speed now and would NEVER go back...but i need high speed for work, anyway! hope you're having a good day, too! a good day to everyone!

Hi everyone, Thank you JB for the wellwishes. Hopefully the closing will be today and will go well. This is a crazy week for me as I'm also trying to get ready for a trip-my sister and I leave tomorrow to go to Connecticut and visit our aunt, uncle and cousins. So I haven't been able to be here as much as I'd like. Wishing everyone a great day, it looks sunny and nice today, so hope yours is the same. ff

Yep the sun was out at my house.. nice and hot. (I mean that litterally back in the 90's again. ugh! I was sweating just sitting on my front porch.) SO... Fangsfan.. I do wish you a very happy trip. I know what it's like not being able to see family for so long then suddenly getting the chance to. Yesterday was my mom's birthday.. but I didn't get to talk to her until today.. I'd say we spent about two and a half hours just talking... Next best thing to a hug.. GO hug that aunt of your Fangsfan... they are the best.

Hi all! Just got back from a busy weekend trip for my cousin's wedding! Lake Placid (NY) is just beautiful...and though I used to go there all the time, it's been a while!
I think some of the extra "Guests" on here may also be when we first go to the site, before we log in...it may count us as a "guest" before we sign in...

Erin You are absolutely correct Erin,,, that is one of the things.. Also when we are not signed in and move from topic to topic and your computer refreshes, it also counts as an additional guest.. Could also be tracking spyware that gets onto a computer too via cookies logging on when you go to a site to try to spy on your viewing habits.

Glad that you are back Erin and that you had a wonderful time. Be safe FF. Hey JB i hope you have a good and safe trip, fangsfan!! maybe i'll go home for christmas, i'll have to see how things shape up...and if i EVER hear from my mum!! I"m with you on that one.. I"m even thinking about going to visit my mother this christmas.. Not sure if I can but I still love the idea that it's now a possibility. Really.. as for the guests numbers.. I know they are googlebots. I know they come around to find out what we are talking about so they know what advertisments to put up here... Then the guests are all of us before we sign in.. as well as right after we sign off. Then of course the true lurkers. I know there is a way to make the googlebots to not show up and to have things set to show the true lurkers only.. but really.. why? Sometimes I find it's entertaining to see what shows up there that we made happen.

video.the-leaky-cauldron.org/video/1633Try this link to the Leaky Cauldron. It has not only the hour long interview on Oprah... but clips they decided to leave out of the actual Oprah show.. but they put it up on Oprah's site. But what I find interesting.. once I looked up this link over there.. I found more things I have not seen yet. Thanks for asking.. Now I have to go check this other stuff out soon.. OH and while over there I found more Movie Posters for the DH film.. Woo Hoo!

Hey.. no problem.. really.. is seems that several members of this site seem to be regulars at reading things over at the Leaky.. so that's a good place to keep up with what's what I guess. I too hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Here the weather is simply beautiful! A couple of days ago.. they had a promotion over at my daughter's school... fund raiser for something.. and if any student sold 15 different items they got to ride in a real balloon. Yep.. it was perfect for that day's event. Of course I was down there with my camera. She's now experienced something her mother has always wanted to. It was so fun.

Did you get to do it, too, Miss C.? As a "chaperone?" That would be so neat! I would love to do that, but don't know who I'd do it with....My hubby has a fear of heights, my older son has a fear of new things like that, and my youngest also seems to be developing a fear of heights...what's a girl to do?!! LOL
