Here we go again. Yep, remember back in the old days when we would get online and see tons of those threads where people asked questions like,
"Who is your favorite Harry Potter character and why?"
or "Which is your favorite HP book?"
or "What is your favorite HP movie?"
Well, I always thought those sort of questions deserved a section all to it's self. So, for here, I decided to make it a thread of it's own.
Now, I do want to make it known that I don't have to be the only one to post the questions I want... HOPE that each of us will ask questions whenever you like.
We can answer any of them at any point in time. Then of course they could be the easy ones, like the ones I just mentioned or we could make them more intricate. I'll take the first go and hope we all will enjoy this thread and getting to know each other better as fans of Harry's world.
~ At what point in time did you realize that you were hooked on the world of Harry Potter?

The Goblet of Fire was just released and there was much media hype about it, (both good and bad) and I stopped by the local book store one day to look for more books. I saw a collection of the first four books in hard cover so I decided to buy my nephew and niece the set to read since they were both entering the age where they could read. I took the sealed set home with me, and was thinking about some of the bad press I had heard over the series so I thought it would be irresponsible as an uncle to send something which might be related to the devil, so I decided to open the set and read them for myself. I read the first book and thought it was done. I started reading the second book and really liked it. Somewhere in the first reading of book two I knew that I was hooked. I never sent that set to my nephew and niece. I went back to the local book store and bought a second sealed set for the children.

I realized I was hooked on Harry Potter way back in 1999, when I first sat down and began to read it with my son and he got hooked, I got hooked and the rest is history!

Well, I liked the books from the very beginning, and when I read book 3 it seemed like a turning point for me-so much back story starting to be revealed and more emphasis on some of the adult characters which I liked. But I think I really became obsessed when I read book 4. I had read a review where they raved about it and thought it was the best one yet. When I read it I felt the same way, I just fell in love with the story. This was the first time I really started thinking about the next book and saying "I can't wait for the next one to come out!" Books 4 and 5 are still my favorites of the whole series.

I knew of the series because a lot of my students liked it, but I thought of it as a children's series, and figured that at some point I would read them, just so I could be more relatable to them. Then I saw the first movie on DVD at my neighbors, and thought it was really good. Later that year, my brother came up with his partner and his neice and nephew, who wanted to go see POA in the theater. So we all went, and I absolutely LOVED the movie! It was at that point that I began reading the series...and was totally hooked!

I would have to say that Neville is most likely my favorite student other than the Golden Trio.
Neville has lived in the shadows and dealt with such heartbreak in such a brave way that I see him as a true hero as well.
His true passion and caring shines time and again though he is very selfless and demure in ways. His qualities are such that he would finally be able to show his true leadership abilities by the end of the series.

I knew I had read a question somewhere about favorite students and then couldn't find it anywhere. I was beginning to think I imagined it and now here it is!! I love everything Duddahs says about Neville and he's a favorite of mine too. For my absolute favorite of the non trio students I think I'd have to pick the twins, Fred and George. Number one because they always make me laugh and I think laughter is one of the best things in the world. And you never knew what they were going to do next. Here's another thing that I love about them. They could have been in with the most popular clicques-they were good looking, popular with the girls, good at sports, bright and creative. They could have become snobs but they weren't-they were friends with they people they liked best, not the "right sorts of people" as Draco would say. I think that made them very special.

I actually have a very soft place in my heart for Cho Chang too. I think that the WB did her a huge disservice when they blamed her instead or her friend for telling Umbridge where the DA meetings were being held.

I'd have to say it's a tie between the Weasley Twins and Neville. Both are great characters and very supportive of Harry, right until the end. It was really nice how JKR incorporated Neville into the storyline, instead of having him as just another character.

I like so many of them...if I HAVE to pick...um....I think Luna. She always puts the truth right out there. And I love her for that scene that (had better be!) in DH2, where HRH couldn't get their patronuses going, and she encouraged them...I forget the exact line at the moment...but she's just so loyal to them.

Oh I do! I missed this question somehow. I love the idea of expecto patronum and would love to see what my patronus would be. And since that last quiz from Fawkes, I found out there were a lot of spells I didn't even know about. But I always say my favorite for myself would be lumos. It's so simple but I love the idea of always being able to have light, no matter where you are.

This would be perfect. Really, right now, I'm not sure if I could narrow one down. I'll have to think more and post my own answer soon.

Petrificus Totalus!
Could you imagine your angry parent or partner being hit with that one just as they were to begin yelling at you for something that was not your fault?

Petrificus Totalus! Could you imagine your angry parent or partner being hit with that one just as they were to begin yelling at you for something that was not your fault? I think if I were to do this, then I'd have to tuck tail and run outta there and not come back for a LONG time. The fear of their wrath of what I'd done once they come around, no matter if I were innocent of what they charged me with or not, this would be more than enough to get me into more trouble than the original crime. UNLESS......... Unless I were to get Hermione to also perform the memory charm to go along with my freezing charm. MMMMM now THAT would make a perfect pair of spells.
