I deem Duddahs as the winner since he was the only person to enter last week's writing contest. It was a very well written story Duddahs and I doubt anyone could have done better.

Thank you so very much Rallem.. I am truly humbled... Now here we go for the next story. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` "Five sickle, just five sickles, that is all I need." Arthur mumbled to himself. As he dug his hand deeper into his robe pockets in search of a few small coins. His fingers instead found the seams of the inner lining of his robe. Nothing was there other than a few pieces of balled up lint and a stray throat lozenge. He continued walking towards the clanking golden gates of the elevators. Work, it was something that Arthur loved with a passion but despised all the same. Now these are the words to use in CAPITAL LETTERS ROUGH GIDDY FLABBERGASTED CANINE SUBTERRANEAN Good Luck everyone and have fun!

OH I get it now.... I feel so dense. I must have been half asleep when I first read the beginning rules of this contest... Great job Duddahs... I loved how you took the story.. When you mentioned fireworks, I too thought of the twins. Such good guys to think of, who brought happiness to all around them. Erin... I too look forward to reading anything you might write. Or anyone else for that matter.. Good luck to all!

"Five sickle, just five sickles, that is all I need." Arthur mumbled to himself.
“Weasley, you’re so pathetic,” spat Lucius Malfoy as he paused for effect, “What are you digging for five sickles?” The other witches and wizards in the elevator chuckled.
Arthur feared for a moment that perhaps he let his guard down for an instance and Lucius had read his mind, but then he remembered that the elevators down to the SUBTERRANEAN Ministry guarded that from happening. “No I was just looking for my lozenge,” spoke Arthur as he pulled a ball of lint from his pocket and tossed it in his mouth. The look of contempt on Malfoy’s face was soon replaced with nausea as Arthur swallowed the lint then pulled out the real lozenge. “I meant to do that.” The others in the elevator burst out laughing as the Weasley patron placed the lozenge in his mouth.
The look of contempt grew back on Lucius’s face, “Was that lint your daily supper and the lozenge your dessert?” The others in the elevator stopped laughing when Arthur raised his eyebrows. “You’re a disgrace the way you force your family to starve for your principals,” uttered Malfoy.
“Life is usually ROUGH when you work with principals Lucius, and sometimes one must forego certain luxuries to have them, but my family always eats well.”
Lucius bared his CANINES in an effort to intimidate Arthur Weasley.
Arthur shook his head and spoke, “I am sometimes FLABBERGASTED that you cannot understand that simple concept Lucius. You sell your principals to have the luxuries I choose not to covet, but someday you will learn that selling your principals will show everyone how cheap you really are.”
Lucius Malfoy’s face grew red with anger at the words his nemesis used against him.
“Lucius, the truth of the matter is I was looking for five sickles in my pocket just so I could throw them in the fountain as I passed by and wish you and your family a healthy and safe holiday.”
As the gates to the elevators clanked open Lucius’s face changed from anger to disbelief and then awe. “Thank you Arthur, I hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas too.” The two wizards nodded to each other as Arthur walked away GIDDY at this outcome. As Arthur neared the fountain he happened to touch a pocket in his vest he forgotten and found five sickles. Arthur threw them in the fountain.

The story I wrote above came out really quickly, but I feel it may be a bit too wordy even though it is less than 500 words. I might try to re-edit the story to make it even better. Well that's assuming it is any good at all.

I had to cut out about 80 words to make my part under 500....but here it is!

"Five sickle, just five sickles, that is all I need." Arthur mumbled to himself.
Yesterday had been a ROUGH day in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office, and he hoped today would be better. When he arrived in his tiny office, he searched his desk drawers, hoping to find some knuts or a sickle. He wanted to buy Molly some flowers to cheer her up after the row he had last night with Percy. That boy just couldn’t see reason…or how the ministry was using him to spy on the family. No matter. It looked like Percy wouldn’t be around much, anyway. He slammed the drawer after having no luck. As he glanced toward his work pile, Perkins entered the room, surprisingly quick for an old man with lumbago.
“Arthur, I’m glad you’re here.” Perkins huffed, out of breath. “Practical joke on muggles gone wrong in Wiltshire…someone set a magical fire in their fireplace…and it won’t go out!”
Arthur had a nasty feeling that this was more sinister than simple muggle-baiting…he was guessing that the Malfoy’s were behind this. Arthur sighed as he left with Perkins…this wasn’t going to be an easy day after all.
When they apperated to the house, the muggles who opened the door assumed they were from the fire brigade, and showed them in. Perkins put out the fire easily enough, but Arthur was FLABBERGASTED to see a thin trail of ashes leading across the floor behind some plants. Arthur knew that they had mere moments to locate the Ashwinder eggs before they would ignite. The muggles waited outside while they poked through the plants. They easily found the red-hot eggs nestled in dirt, and Arthur used a freezing charm before collecting them and allowing the muggles back inside.
Their work done, Arthur asked Perkins to accompany him to the Malfoy mansion. He knew they would have a hard time proving it, but he wanted them to know he was on to them. He knew they had dark artifacts hidden in secret rooms in their SUBTERRANEAN basement, but had only managed to find a few minor ones during raids.
As they approached the formidable gates, the wrought-iron changed shape, until great jaws were snapping at them with CANINE ferocity. They tried to turn away, but the gates kept stretching to meet them. Arthur anticipated the bites any second, but as none came, they heard a malicious laugh and turned to see Lucius smirking at them as the gates returned to their usual guard.
“Come to pay us a visit, Arthur? Begging for some money, perhaps?”
Arthur’s anger overcame him, and he charged the gates. Lucius, knowing he was safe behind the bars which could block magic, stood his ground. But Arthur aimed well, and his fist connected with Lucius’ nose, knocking him unconscious. He smiled at Perkins’s surprised face, and they both started laughing uncontrollably. As they walked away, Arthur spotted a shiny silver coin on the path. He felt GIDDY as he picked it up, and marveled at what a turn of events the day had brought.

I really liked your story rin68nyr. It had a good pace. Mine was the span of the elevator ride and yours had the elevator ride as just an incident. Well done.

I can not tell you how enjoyable it has been to read some good, clean Harry Potter stories.. Honestly, with the garbage that is put up on other sites with content that is not advisable for younger readers, this Ole Bird is so thrilled, yep thrilled to his talons over these stories!

It's a real pleasure to be able to right these stories once again and have them be read. This was one of the most popular features on the other site I belong to but after book 7 came out the houses stopped competing and this contest was dropped with the rest.

I'm not huge on fanfic, but have read some that I really like (because it sticks to Canon, and is written for the same audience as the real books). I am not at all interested in "adult" versions. I'm afraid it would somehow taint the whole thing for me!

I don't think anyone here is interested in "Adult" versions of Harry Potter, and personally I would be suspect of anyone who was since Harry Potter was originally a childrens story. Sure the story morphed into a young adults story meerly by the length of the series, but even that is a far cry from an "Adult" story. Personally I like canon, but I do not hold myself to it, since before book seven came out I started writing my own version of a book seven and I got laots of it wrong. Many of the things I got wrong I did on purpose, and some of them I am still convinced J.K. Rowling got it wrong, jk almost Anyways I prefer my version of things and sometimes still elude to them.

Yeah ... I know what you mean... We all had our own ideas as to what we thought would surely be part of JKR's version. Still, many of us had many parts the same as she put it. I think the only one of my own ideas that I hold to, even if JKR said in an interview a huge note about Dumbledore that she on purpose did NOT add to the original books... Well... I still see things from my own perspective... Even some day.. I will NOT give up hope that someday I WILL write my own fanfic of Dumbledore's life as a young man... And it was somewhat different than how JKR said it was in her interview. It's not me being against any prejudicial issues.. because I REFUSE for any debates of any sort to take place on this site... It's just how I imagined Dumbledore's life went when I really put my mind on him in a psychological depth of what I imagined his youth and early adulthood to the then present day went. Someday I'll get around to writing it... I was just thinking about that the other day. I guess I miss pondering my thoughts on him to such a degree. I just love him to death. OK... I think I"m talking in circles... got to go. Oh and have fun writing... IT's so much fun!

The points of interest I refuse to let go of are:
1 Snape was not in love with Lily, and the two were just friends until he said that unfortunate word out of frustration, and in fact Severus was in love with Narcissa. The two could not wed though since he was considered a non pure-blood.
2 Dumbledore is not dead! There simply is too much evidence pointing to this fact, and the one piece of evidence people point to showing that he is dead is not clear or concise. In my story Dumbledore showed up after the final battle as a toddler.
3 Snape wears bunny slippers underneath his magical robes.
4 The six horcruxes for Lord Voldemort are (1) Tom Riddle's Diary, (2) Marvolo Gaunt's Ring, (3) Slytherin’s Locket, (4)Helga Hufflepuff's Cup, (5) The Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw, and (6)the trophy to Tom Riddle in the Trophy Room of Hogwarts. I refuse to accept that Voldemort made a horcrux by accident, and that he was desperate enough to make a mortal creature a horcrux as well.
5 The only Weasley to be permanently harmed in the making of this story was Bill Weasley. Bill became part werewolf and with his new found powers along with his ability to maintain his conscience defeated Fenrir Greyback with the help of Remus Lupin. Bill and Remus were also able to shed light on the werewolf community showing that the majority of werewolves did not support Greyback as everyone thought, and that in fact they were people brought over by Fenrir against their wills and were forced to do his bidding. Of course there were those who fell in love with being a werewolf and doing bad things to others. When Bill and Remus took the leadership role of the werewolf community they either killed most of them in combat and the others they sent into a magical exile.
6 Snape built his own Army of secret followers out of Peter Pettigrew, Narcissa Malfoy, and Draco Malfoy, and they were instrumental in the down fall of Lord Voldemort.
Points of interest I got right are:
1 Snape was on the side of Harry Potter all along out of guilt for causing the death of his parents.
2 Hermione and Ron would Wed, and Harry and Ginny would too.
3 Bill and Fleur wed at the Burrow and the Death Eaters attacked there & then.
4 The final battle happened on Hogwarts Grounds. I only had this half right, since I had the final battle between select members of the Death Eaters lead by Voldemort himself against Harry and the true members of Dumbledore’s Army. Snape was on scene to betray the Dark Lord and turn the tide of battle to the DA.
As you can see I got more wrong than I did right let alone the entire Deathly Hallows bent on this story. I don’t remember having an answer to the Deathly Hallows J.K. Rowling came up with.
