I believe it would have been a far less fun place to learn at. The fact that there are so many secrets that Hogwarts itself holds makes so much difference to me that I can hardly say. Having attended what is considered a somewhat Historic University myself and having dormed my freshman year in a room where George Washington himself slept and gave a famous speech on our front porch of that very same building gives one so much inner pride that can not be replaced.

What if the Dursley's actually loved Harry like a son of their own? I still see the rest of the story staying the same.... no different except the Dursley's would have been more like Hermione's parents in how much they were involved in her life.

This is one that has been pondered by many for years. Personally, I would have the worry that Harry might not have had the personal drive to destroy Voldemort nor would he have been so readily available to become instant friends with Ron instead of Draco and thus making a life's mistake that might not have been realized until it was too late. |

I wonder if her parents being dentists, they would have been able to pull those big teeth and put some kind of false ones in? Or would they have a spell on them so this would be impossible? |

What if Sirius had killed Scabbers without explaining anything to Harry and the others? And would the body of the rat transform back to Peter after his death?

I believe that it was explained that once a Witch or Wizard died, their magic would die with them. So that would mean that Scabbers would indeed have turned back into the form of Peter Pettigrew.

Really I do to an extent believe the same as Duddahs... But there are times when the magic stays even after death has occured. Magical objects etc... some spells do stop at death... most in fact from what I think. Think Dumbledore's enchantments over the school stopped and needed to be reestablished. I would think a person in their animagus form too would turn back into their natural human form. Then there are some magic spells... enchantments that will say in place only because they are created that way. Think of the magic in wands.. Would they all stop working as a conduate once Ollivander dies? I don't think so. He really didn't make them magical. Then there are the founders magical objects that they made have special powers. They are supposed to be still endowd with those powers. Then the cursed items in Borgin and Burkes shop. I think they too would be still magical if the one who gave them those powers were dead. Oh and Moody's spell he left for Snape at Grimmuald place. We know Moody was dead when the trio showed up there and met their greeter.
Really... this was something that has always intrigued me... why some things would change back while others would not. I only wondered if they were not as strong a spell, enchantment etc. Or if it was the amount of power the creator had in them that made the difference? But then who could really compete with Dumbledore? This subject has always caused me to really think hard just to try to make sense of it all... yes I know this is a made up world.. but in this case, I think JKR really has a meaning behind it that she has put thought and reason behind this issue.

What if the polyjuice potion never reverted back? That there ended up being seven Harry's for quite some time before someone figured out how to fix them back?
