Hello, all!! It's been ages since I posted, I lost the link. I found out about our Dudduhs on Facebook on the 22nd from a friend of his. I was shocked and heartbroken (still am) and had a good cry. Our Dudduhs was such a sweet person and friendly, he will be missed!!

Ok...here is what o have come up with 1) we can order a hydrangea plant for $74.99, plus delivery fee, and divide the amount amongst us. 2) we can donate to the charity from the obituary, for the 1961 memorial fund which awards skating and academic scholarships for skaters with national/I ternational potential. It also honors skaters who were lost to the 1961 plane crash, in which the US figure skating world team lost their lives (and it just so happens that the school I work in is named after a mother and 2 daughters who were. Killed). In this scenario, we would each give what we wished, and that would be combined down into one donation from all of us. We could do that one of 2 ways. Pool the money, and donate the amount, and send a card, or each of us donate what we wish online, and send a card from all of us. What do you all think? Erin I think the hydrangea plant and card would be best, in my opinion, some more personal. I am okay with either though |

I am fine with either as well. I do like the idea of it coming from us a group rather than individually-because this group meant so much to Duddahs and he was so active. If we are voting I guess I'd vote for the charity because it seems to be what he and his family wanted. But really I love both ideas.
So glad we are doing this and that I can be a part of it.

Hydrangea or charity is fine with me...I'd like to hear from others.
I also want to say that if anyone is hesitant because they are tight on money right now, please do not worry. Whatever we do, send what you can, send it at a later date, or just PM me to let me know. No matter what, the card will say it's from this group, with our names on it. Duddahs would have done it this way, and I will, too.

Hi guys! We've got one vote for Hydrangia, and one for the memorial fund...any other votes?
Either one is fine with me...I can easily set either up. But if I don't get a consensus, I'm going to go with the memorial fund, set a date that you can each donate an amount you decide on to the fund, and then send a card from all of us letting them know that we did that as a group.
Please let me know your preference!

Whew.... I thought I was too late. I'm like everyone else, either is fine with me. However, I like the idea of the Hydreanga bush. Every time I see any of those blue bundles of bluming flowering bushes, I can't help but smile and think of him no matter where I am. He's like that too. He loves to make people smile. I also loved his posts whenever he'd let us get a peek into how his gardens are doing. I can picture him now, out back of Pond House, with CJ running around also with his bushes of Hydrangeas nearby.

How about this.... everyone who wants to, will make a donation of an amount they choose (no need to disclose), by July 31-Harry's birthday, to the memorial fund: www.usfigureskating.org/support/donate/memorial-fundBy that date, I will have bought a card, and we'll have decided what to write (I'll put it on here for everyone to see/suggest edits/approve), and I will send the card out, explaining who we are, and that we each made a donation. I have Duddahs snail mail...is that where I send it? I guess I would, and would address it to "the family of Joseph Sorrentino" Does this sound good? Erin P.S. Miss C., I JUST read your post. I like the idea of a hydrangea too, but with all of us spread out, in different countries, I thought this would be easiest. Everyone can just donate right from home, instead of sending $$ to me. I'm happy to go with the hydrangea, but we'd need to get going on that real quick, and things are slow, here 🙂. If this just doesn't sit right with anyone, we can change it. I just feel like the memorial fund is most feasible as a group. |

My only request is that people let me know once they've donated, so I know we're ready to send the card. If everyone is ready before the end of the month, I'll send it out earlier.

I could not find any sympathy cards with an owl, and the blank ones were a bit too cutesy for a sympathy card picture. Hi all!
We have Aidan's dance recital (outdoors...hope it's not TOO hot) on Friday, but now, we also have my brother in law and his wife coming up for a funeral for a friend of theirs, and getting the card out on Friday may not be feasible. I'll send it out on Monday, August 3.

Erin, that is a lovely card! I think what you have written is great, do you think we should add something about how long we knew Duddahs? I remember one summer dinner party he had out back. It was to celebrate right after Duddahs just finished his back yard deck being rebuilt. We were talking as the food was cooking. I felt as though I could smell it all through the computer. You know how he could describe things so you could envision/smell them so clearly. NZ I noticed how you are using your Million for Deathly Hallows thread for posting thoughts/memories, that's cool. I'll probably post my memories or stories of him on this thread and repost quotes of his on your count thread. This is just ME. I'm not meaning for everyone. Is that alright?
