[The Quidditch Post]

Those of you who posted on the WB site may remember the Quidditch Training board. It was a small board, made up of a close group of people, of which I was apart of. On the board, we would set up our own Quidditch teams, hold practices and tryouts, and even play against each other in an RP format. It was great fun and some of my fondest memories were made on that board.

Amongst the various team and match threads was a thread called The Quidditch Post. It was basically a Quidditch newspaper that wrote about the current events of the board, in a quasi-fan fic like form. It was created by a person called Qs (Quidditchstar123), who remains to this day a good friend of mine. Qs would write the current events of the QP (as it was known) and he would have various other members contribute different parts to the paper (reporters, as they were known). At some point, I joined the team and wrote the current events when Qs could not.

When the boards announced that they were closing, I quickly backed up all of the various issues that The Quidditch Post posted over the years in a large document. I've only recently discovered this document and thought it would be a great idea to post them, an issue at a time.

Slowly, the various issues will collectively tell the history of the Quiddich Training board, for the interested individual.

Issue #1

Currently Happening:

The Ravenclaw Dolphins are taking on the Gryffindor House in a match. The score is 10-10. So far the teams skills are tied, but the Ravenclaw Dolphins' seeker Finn had a little accident which injured him. Will this jepordise the team? We'll have to wait and see what happens later on. To watch the game click here


Also Happening:

Manimagus, Seeker of the Fireballs, has resigned. Sources say that Manimagus resigned because captain of the Fireballs, Cjerebek, apperantly never told him when he was needed. What will happen to the Fireballs, now since they are without a seeker. Sources also say that Manimagus has agreed to be a reserve seeker for the Fireballs next game and then he will leave.

THE QUIDDITCH POST
Issue #2

Currently Happening:

In the Dolphins vs. Gryffindor match, Dolphina scored for the Dolphins and Qs scored for Gryffindor. Also Danny scored for the Dolphins, but the Gryffindors told them it was a foul. The score is rumoured to be 30 – 20, but we will be unsure until the referee (WbHostWtchRowena) tells them at the end of the game. Finn, the seeker for the Dolphins, has not been focused on the snitch and fell off his broom but luckily he used the Accio charm and got back onto his broom before he hit the ground. Rumours and sources say that Finn, is used to it after what happened to him last match.


Broom of the Day:

Today's Broom of the day is the Nimbus 1000. When the Nimbus 1000 came out, it was unlike any racing broom ever made. It was able to go up to 100 miles per hour, yet it was able to turn on a dime. At the time, all of the professional Quidditch players had one, and the Nimbus performed excellent nevertheless. But, eventually, the Firebolt would come and take it's place as top broom of the world.


Team of the Day:

Today's Team of the day is the Wigtown Wanderers. Founded in 1422 by the children of a butcher named Walter Parkin, the Wigtown Wonderers, at the time, rarely lost a match. Through the years, at least one descendant of Walter Parkin has been on the team. Their robes are blood-red, and had a silver meat cleaver on the back. One on the Wigtown Wonderers most famous fan is Kennilworthey Whisp.


Move of the Day:

Today's move of the day is the Double Eight Loop. This move, performed by Keepers usually during a penalty, requires the Keeper to fly around all 3 hoops at a high speed.


Quidditch Book of the Day:

Today's Quidditch Book of the Day is "The Wonder of Wigtown Wanderers" by Kennilworthy Whisp, and avid fan of the Wigtown Wanderers

THE QUIDDITCH POST
Issue #3

Currently Happening:
In the Ravenclaw Dolphins vs. Gryffindor Team match, the score is now 40-30 to Gryffindor. Qs scored both goals for the team. Nz, co-captain and keeper for Gryffindor narrowly dodged a stray bludger by performing the ‘Sloth Grip Roll.’ Qs tackled Faith by a vertical tackle. But when Qs attempted to pass the quaffle to Phoenix, Danny intercepted it and gave it to Faith. When Faith attempted to pass the quaffle to Dolphina, Qs kicked it through the hoops and scored. Gryffindor looks like they could win this, but with Ravenclaws strong offence, who knows what will happen?


Also Happening:
In recent news, it looks like the Ice Dragons might be taking on the Kenmare Kestrels. This game is sure to be an interesting one filled with skills and a mutual love for the game. "I don't think Quidditch gets any better than this. A classic game between England and Ireland. You better get your tickets early, 'cause this is going to be a sell-out for sure" Kennilworthy Whisp says. Sources say that in a couple of weeks, we might see a game thread up.


Broom of the Day:
Today's broom of the day is the Moontrimmer. Made in 1901 by Gladys Boothby, the Moontrimmer represented a leap in broom construction. The Moontrimmer's sole advantage was that it was able to achieve greater heights than any other broom at the time. The the Moontrimmer's glory was short lived, due to the fact the Gladys Boothby couldn't make enough brooms to suply the demand.


Team of the Day:
Today's team of the day is Puddlemroe United. Founded in 1163, Puddlemore united is to date the oldest Quidditch team in the League. They have won twenty-two League Cups, and 2 European Cups. It's anthems: "Beat Those Bludgers Back", and "Chuck that Quaffle Here" were recently recorded by Celestina Warbeck to raise funds for St. Mungo's. Puddlemore United players were navy blue robes with two crossed golden bulrushes on the back.


Move of the Day:
Today's Move of the day is the Hawkshead Attacking Formation. This is when three Chasers, line up horizontaly, and the one in the center is slightly ahead. This move is attempted in order to push opposing Chasers to the side.


Quiddicth Object of the Day:
Today's Quidditch Object of the day is a Beaters' Bat. This object is used by Beaters to knock Bludgers around.


Quidditch Book of the Day:
Today's Quidditch Book of the Day is "Quidditch Through The Ages" by Kennilworthy Whisp.


International Quidditch Player of the Day:
Today's International Player of the Day is Barry Ryan, keeper for the Irish National Team. He Made a spectacular save against Poland's top Chaser, Ladislaw in 1995.


Trend of the Day:
The trend of the day is a light blue robe with beater written on the back.

THE QUIDDITCH POST
Special Issue #1

The Gryffindors Have Won it!!!
In the fiery Dolphins vs. Gryffindor Team match, the match has been won by Gryffindor. The Snitch has been caught by Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, Louise (weirdsister1). As we interviewed Louise right after the game, she described how she caught the Snitch. "As I was metres away, I seen a Bludger hit me right in my shoulder. I felt pain, but the adrenaline drowned it out. At that moment I felt the little metal ball in my hand. I quickly closed it, and next this I know, everyone is patting me on the back and congratulating me." After that, Louise was sent to the Hospital Wing.

This game was very exciting to watch. It was a battle between the wits of Ravenclaw, and the braveness of Gryffindor. Though both teams were equally skilled, Gryffindor was always one step ahead. With the amazing skill of teamwork between the Gryffindor Chasers pushing Gryffindor ahead, this game looked as though it was "in the bag" for Gryffindor. But, the Ravenclaws fought back using agility and a better strategy. Until the end, Ravenclaw had almost tied the game. But, it was all over when Louise caught the Snitch. Though the score is unofficially 250-60. We will have to wait until referee Rowena gives us the final stats.

Overall this game has been one of the best I have ever seen. One filled with passion and fufilment. Therefore I would like to congratulate each and every member that participated in that game by presenting each member with a "Excellence of Quidditch" Medal. Farewell to you guys, and congratulations to Gryffindor!

Some commentary on this issue/match.

This was the first match we organized on the Quidditch board that featured our new "Board Rules" that allowed us to actually RP a Quidditch match as if it were an actual game. It was also refereed by none other than WbHostWtchRowena. This was the last match she would referee and she too was excited about the new Board Rules. The Quidditch board at this time was also packed with many new teams, as you shall see in later issues.
