Very interesting. I never knew the meanings of either Privet or Whinging, whinging always made me think of whizzing around for some reason, totally different from what it really is. Little Whinging always reminded me of the names of little towns in my old Agatha Christie books, like Little Paddocks I remember was one of them. I always loved those kinds of names.

Really, it seems familiar to me from an Agatha Christie story. I thought it was just me, but then again, I watch/read a lot of Agatha. LOL! I knew what whinging meant, but it actually took me years to hear it put in a sentence so that I could figure that out. I watch too much British television. LOL! I always wondered about the "Privet" because over here we say Private. I wondered is she did a play on the spelling. I knew Petunia always wanted to be private and we use privacy fences and hedges. I never knew that what we call just a hedge, would be called a Privet. Ok... not sure if that made any sense, but I hope so.

Privet is a hedge, as in a Privet surrounding ones house, Miss Charlotte.
So, Privet Drive would be individual plots of land with a hedge around it.

Yep. I learned something new from reading this. Which is good because I always love to learn something new.

Duddahs loves Hydrangea bushes and he was tilled that this particular bush appeared in the scene where Harry was listening for any news about the Wizarding world outside the living room window during the heat wave.

I love them too, especially the blue ones.

I do too. Just this spring I was trying to find the side of the house you are supposed to plant them on. I don't think I get any sun on that side of the house. I love the blue ones best too.
Duddahs, I too loved that part in the books where it's THOSE bushes that Harry was laying under the window by, just being sneaky and listening to the TV news. Hey, I don't blame him either.
