Now that Duddahs has watched the entire Merlin series, he decided to watch Downton Abbey from the beginning since he has not seen any episodes before.
Duddahs Dad loves the series so I decided to get it on Netflix.
Just finished the second disk and am up to episode 5 of year one.
HOOKED!
Does anyone else here watch Downton Abbey?

YAY! Thanks Duddahs for starting this one. Yes... I watch it. Thank goodness I discovered this not too far in. I loved the movie Gosford Park from years back. Michael Gambon and the girl who plays Harry's mom in the HP series is in it. When I saw the topic of Downton Abbey.... and I was doing research on how things work with rich families with a full maid, butlers service staff who live with and take care of that rich family. You know me when I write. I hope to get the tone of things right to be believable. Maggie Smith... My goodness, who can not help but love everything she plays in? Downton Abbey was a hard one to find just to watch. I rented season three at our local movie rental house and could not stop watching until there were no discs left. (watching the seasons out of order like this, I was surprised to see one of my favorite people from Game of Thrones is on this show. Such a different character for her too. LOL.) They still don't have any other seasons for rent. I looked everywhere on TV. (We have DISH network, so I can simply type in the name of the show and hit search... or topic search. Nothing came up.) It took me a while to find it online, just to know if it were another HBO series or if it was something I would find on my local channels. YAY! PBS. But the movie site that I hang out at says, it won't be out here for the newest season until January. Due to the fact it's a European TV show.... just like Merlin was, we have to wait until they get to show the whole season there first before we get it here in the United States. So... I found the first two seasons for sale at Walmart. Due to the fact I need to make my money stretch as far as I can... I could only get the first season. I did it again. I stuck it in a few weeks ago and got hooked. Watched it nonstop until I ran out of discs. It took me until yesterday to find season two anywhere. They were sold out for the longest time. I have it still in the wrapper and look forward to my next marathon.

Duddahs is fully involved in Downton Abbey already.
The disc's that come in from Netflix have between 2 and 3 episodes only on each one.
This is driving ole Duddahs nutters!

Yes I agree. Now that I have seen them all... but I've seen them out of order, it's to where I'm scratching my head trying to remember where things are supposed to pick up. LOL.
I can't wait to see them when they come out on tv and watch them the right way for a change. LOL.

Season 3 episodes 4,5,6,7 down, just episode 8 and the Christmas Special left and then Duddahs gets to start the series fresh come January with Season 4 on PBS!!!!
Guess Duddahs might start Game of Thrones since everyone else seems to enjoy it.. Hope it is not a foo, foo, gushing about the guys type of show though... Jenn likes the eye candy, Duddahs finds it boring and insulting.. One of the reasons Duddahs does not understand Under the Dome the way his Jenn seems to enjoy it.. Watches it just so Jenn will feel appreciated and have something to share with Duddahs. YUCK! POO! YUCK! All that yucky stuff. Sorry, little boys don't fully grow out of it I guess.

It took me a while to find it in my satelite search of channel listings. Turned out it's not to be found by the show's name but as "Masterpiece Classic." Who'd have thought to search THAT word to find a totally different name? I guess that is a PBS issue I'm going to have to get used to. I found that they also have 'Sherlock' listed as "Materpiece Mystery" What's up with that channel? I only found 'Sherlock' in time to get to watch three episodes before they stopped showing it. OK.... sorry for the rant for a minute there... I wonder if I was the only one who got to see the whole series of 'Downton Abbey?' I loved this season. I have so many questions as to what happened and hope we get to see the answers soon. We here in the US won't get to see the next season until next January. Why do we have to wait so long to get to see them? Good grief! I never thought I would say that it sucks to be living in America. LOL! I'm ready to move to London and be where I seem to find my heart these days. UGH! However... about this show, I'm so glad that Anna did fess up to her hubby as to what happened to her.. I just hope that he didn't do what we think he did. I don't want him to go back to prison or have to leave the show. :'(I think they are such a lovely couple. Another question I have... I wonder what happened to the ladies maid who left the show for this whole season? You know that nasty piece of work of a woman. I wonder if since I watched my Downton Abbey marathon out of order if I forgotten what was going on with her? I have THIS season recorded on DVR, so I might just rewatch each episode, in hopes that I might have missed that being addressed at the beginning. Then I can't wait to find out what happened to that girl's lover who left town for this whole season. Not a word and they have not revealed much on his whereabouts. I'll bet he'll turn up now that she found a home for her baby. Sorry for the spoiler, if you didn't know. And I just wish I could go give that girl, who cooks with Mrs. Patmoore, a huge hug. I hope she finds love soon. I could see the two of us being good friends if I lived in that era. I'm still interested in finding out what that guy has on that lady who sews. He's pulling her strings trying to get her to find out any juicy details/gossip. He knows no one will let him in on anything. Still, what is her secret? So far... my favorite characters are: Anna and her hubby. I love Mrs Hughes too. She makes me smile so much when she's on. I love how she handles things in the house. I don't care all that much for anybody upstairs... sad too. WAIT! I DO love Maggie Smith's character and the love/hate friendship she has going with that lady who's son died at the end of the last season. Those two ladies crack me up. ... (I just hate it when names don't come to me so easily. Maybe I'll remember their names and edit this post to put them in soon.) edited: What's up with me today? I never use the word 'hate' this often in one day.

Duddahs was watching Masterpiece Theater the a few days ago when a commercial for Father Downling Mysteries came on..
Is it Duddahs or did everyone else already know that Arthur Weasley is Father Dowling?
Is the show any good?

No I didn't know he was in it. Really, I've heard of the name before somewhere I just didn't know where. Seems like so long ago. Here we are getting Masterpiece Classic, showing something called... Mr. Selfridge.... or something like that. I tried to watch an episode and had a hard time keeping interest. Masterpiece Mystery was showing Sherlock. It has been a few months since they've shown anymore episodes... they had something else on in it's place. I'm getting the feeling that I'm going to have to purchase Sherlock after all... I was eyeballing it at the bookstore during our outing yesterday afternoon. I just looked up on our PBS channel to see if I could find the show you mentioned... I guess it's different per state we live in what sorts of shows we get to watch. Phooey. Still, I'll have to keep an eye out for it in case we get it later on. You know how I love mysteries! Thanks for the heads up.

Now if someone could put some tape over Lady Mary's mouth for a minute she might actually be able to truly fall in love with someone.
She is going to get herself and her maid in a whole heap of trouble!
By the way, Mr. Mosley is a HOOT!

I know it. I was saying out loud to the TV the other night, the rate she's going she's going to get herself into trouble. She's playing with fire too. I really feel for poor Anna. Still, my favorite character is Lady Grantham. I think I remembered her name correctly. (Maggie Smith's character) LOL! She cracks me up!
