I called early this week to order the book, and was told it was in yesterday. Went to get it, and it was the wrong book! The guy said that had been happening lately. I was hoping to have it for the trip. Oh well...it's not due until near the end of August.

Erin, that is a long time to wait for a book that has been out for some time now. Wow.
JB, I love mysteries, but more of ones from other era's of time...or at least some time before I was born or of the future. I think I'll wait to hear what those friends from here think about it.

By the way...I've been too busy with all the new stuff at Pottermore to even open up the book! Soon, though...soon!

I actually broke down and bought it yesterday. I left my house without my glasses so reading anything was pretty hard to do. Then when we were at the store, I happened to have to step about half way back between the aisles to read the names on all of the books... I started to walk away when I saw the name of this one. I had to do a double take shrugged and brought it home with me. 16 bucks.

I just found this whole group of threads and am excited-I want to come back and comment on some I missed. I can't stay because I have to walk the dog, then my sister and I are taking our "second mother" out to lunch, then have to work. But just to say I'm about forty pages in and loving this book. Mr Strike reminds me so far a little of Ron Weasley, no money, always having things go wrong and even says bloody (watch your language), Ron's favorite saying. Will be back to comment more later.

LOL! Hey! Fangsfan. Looks like you were caught by my filter. I set it up within the first couple of weeks of creating this site. Please don't change your post. I had to do a double take when I read your comment to make sense of what you said... then it hit me... so, if you wondered what happened... that was me waaaaaay back then. OH and I remember hearing Rupert say that that was one of the things he liked about playing Ron. That he liked being about to use profanity all the time. I got this book too... and i'm actually looking forward to reading it. It seems to be getting good reviews. From what I'm guessing, the first book she wrote was more of a shocker only because people were expecting her to write in the same exact style as she wrote before, not something new. Now people know to throw both of those styles out and expect to start fresh from the beginning, they can enjoy each new book from JKR as if it's own thing. No comparing. I think it's cool.

Finished the book and really enjoyed it. It's definitely in the who done it/mystery vein so I can see how you it might not be your thing if you don't like that genre. I loved the characters and I think she's left it open so she could do a sequel if she wanted to. I guessed some stuff and some stuff not!
