Ok I must admit that The King And I was my FAVORITE play out of the many I've seen. Why? Call me a fan of Royalty, if you must.
I saw this at a dinner theater in Southern California, and then again at a local Theater where I live now.
The one at the dinner theater was much more elaborate so I'll talk of that one here. We were served our dinner right before the show, so that our waiters could enjoy the show as well and so that they didn't pop in and out in front of the audience. I'll never forget the costumes...they were so similar to the ones in the movie. And the songs!!! "Getting To Know You" I was familiar with, since I'd heard it as a child. "Hello Young Lovers" soon became another song favorite of mine. The one thing this production left out was the part where the siamese performed "Uncle Tom's Cabin" play, but that was ok, since the stage was too small to have that. All in all, I loved the play. Yes, I have the book and the other movie dvd's of it. But those don't compare to the beautiful production of a live action play.

Have you seen the movie Anna and the King... starring Jodie Foster? I have not seen the old film the King and I since I was a kid that I hardly remember it. But several years ago I did see Anna and the King. It was pretty good. IT's another take on the original but no singing. Glad you enjoyed yourself going to this play. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

Warner brothers cartoons did a movie a few years back called Anna and The king" and it was a children's version, and it had songs in it. I think I'll rent that too. Oh I enjoyed myself. I could kick myself now, for not keeping the playbill. I wish I still had that!!
